Charm Conan. Check. Wink at 50 Cent. Check. Embarrass Andy Richter for not paying his parking tickets 15 years ago. Check. Jane Lynch simply nailed her guest performance on The Tonight Show last night. Let’s hope Lorne Michaels took notice, because she’d kill as host of Saturday Night Live.

Jane Lynch would be BRILLIANT as the host of SNL! Certainly better than anyone they’ve had this season. It would be perfect if Jane could host and then the cast of Glee could be the musical guest. I think my little theatre-geek heart would explode with happiness
great idea!
+1 on this awesome idea. I don’t have a little theatre-geek running around inside of me, but I know a damn good idea when I see one.
awesome
Perfect suggestion- that would be a dream show.
That would be event television!
This would be the best episode in recent memory. Jane could handle any skit thrown her way–just look at the range of characters she’s played in Christopher Guest movies alone.
Too bad NBC wouldn’t have them on there because it would be promoting Glee
Your love of anything ‘Glee’ is pretty lame. Leave it alone. Go away
I hate Glee too, but love Jane Lynch all the same. The show is annoying but anything that puts Lynch’s name out there for SNL is a win in the end.
Oh, but not quite as lame as your “reasoning,” Peter. If you’re speaking about the writer’s love of “Glee,” I don’t even see a mention about that. Plus, Jane Lynch was brilliantly comedic before “Glee,” i.e. “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” “40-Year-Old Virgin,” etc. Or maybe I should write that in terms of something you’ll understand: You lame, go away.
I agree, enough with the Glee. Jane Lynch has already established herself as a great comedic actress in A Mighty Wind and Best in Show, as well as countless other appearences in movies and TV.
Jane Lynch was brilliant before the atrocity of ‘Glee’ was consistently crammed down the throats of the public by EW. She’s the only watchable piece of the show, but you’d do better to just rewatch ‘Best In Show’.
I love her. She is perfect in Glee. And she would be perfect on SNL. Every skit would be a killer. Hey Lorne, take notice!!!
She would be great on SNL, assuming the writing doesn’t let her down. Here’s hoping!
Ha ha, she could read the phone book (à la Tallulah Bankhead), and it would still probably be funny.
Thank you Randy Jackson
Ooh, I like the idea in the first comment (Jane Lynch + Glee as the musical act). That would be a great show, for sure.
I fear they may bypass her as host because she’d out-perform almost their entire cast.
If they wouldn’t let the cast of Glee ride on a freakin’ float in the Macy’s parade, what makes you think they would let them be on SNL?
Al, yer a voice of sanity in a land of Glee.
Actually, if they used Lynch and Co. on an episode of SNL, the ratings would probably shoot sky-high, and for a show that has not done so well this season, that’s important. Not necessarily the case with the Macy’s parade, which tons of people are going to watch no matter what.
I love Glee, but Al is right on the money. NBC might give Jane a chance at host, but they would NEVER let the kids be the musical guest.
I got confused at first, haven’t seen the tonite show in years and forgot the Leno isn’t on there. We don’t get NBC anymore(no loss) since tv went digital, so I really have little idea who’s doing what on that channel.
Here’s an update for you. Paar is not the host anymore. They’ve got this kid game show host Johhny Carson as his replacement. He is absolutely AWFUL!!! I predict he’ll be gone in less than a year.
Oh, and some of the shows are in “color” now. Can you imagine! Maybe we will put a man on the moon someday!
hilarious!
LMFAO
Love Jane Lynch and Glee. Haven’t watched SNL in a long time, but would if Jane were on!
I loved her in The Fugitive.
Jane Lynch would be AWESOME as host of SNL…I really think they need to start getting hosts with proven comedic chops – people who do comedy for a living and can improvise and roll with it. No more dramatic actors or popstars – leave it to the professionals so says I.
They should get Catherine O’Hara to host. Her voice ALONE stole “Where The Wild Things Are”.
I love Jane but her lack of eye contact with Conan as she was answering his questions (she kept looking off to her right and not at 50 Cent but over him) made me uncomfortable. Still, she rocks everything she’s in (I’m a HUGE fan of Best in Show and A Mighty Wind especially).
Unfortunately she doesn’t fit the women-under-30 mold SNL seems to be stuck with.
What?!?!
You want Jane Lynch to host SNL?
A funny host that can do comedic timing?
That is just crazy talk.
i think there’s no question when it comes to emmy time…she will be on the short list!
