The new trailer for Nine is all Kate Hudson most of the time. Yes, we get shots of Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, and Fergie’s breasts, but it’s Hudson’s “Cinema Italiano” production number that’s the focus. Which makes me wonder if Hudson herself is supposed to be a draw, or if the filmmakers just wanted us to see a sparkly set and costume and her song was an eye-catcher? I’m going with the latter. Hudson doesn’t have the best track record and needs Nine to get her back on track. At the very least, it gives her something worthwhile to talk about when she tapes her Inside the Actors Studio tonight in New York. Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days weren’t going to fill an hour.
Check out the trailer, after the jump, and let us know: Are you rooting for a Hudson comeback? Or are you perfectly content to only see her at Yankees games?

This trailer isn’t as good as the first one, but I’m still intrigued.
I have to admit that when I heard Kate Hudson had been cast in Nine, I was a bit bemused given her recent outings in cinema-land are strewn with failed rom-coms. But this trailer does a good job of putting that to rest. Yes, I agree that her number was probably chosen because Cinema Italiano has the flash and uptempo beat (and squee for all the shots of DDL…yum)but given the dreck Kate Hudson has been in for years, this could be a turning point back in the direction she promised in Almost Famous.
I can’t wait to see it!
Kate Hudson is one of my favorite actresses. Almost Famous is my favorite movie. I know she is capable of performing that well again. She has just made a series of escalating bad decisions over the years. This movie looks interesting, but I’m not sure this will be her comeback. This was a strange trailer and I am definitely not a fan of this song. Personally, I have a problem with anything that has that many guidos in it. Just saying. I hope the other songs are better, otherwise I probabaly will be skipping this movie.
“That many guidos”?…what is a guido? Are you that bigoted and ignorant that you cannot help but make these remarks? If it makes you “feel better” about yourself then go ahead, but all it shows how insecure you really are! Have a nice day!
Um. Pretty sure that she was objecting to the number of times that the WORD “guido” was used, like some people can’t listen to rap music that drops the n-bomb every 3 seconds. Calm!
Um, Guido is the name of the Daniel Day Lewis character who she was OBVIOUSLY talking about in the song. How is THAT offensive?
I would have never admitted it before seeing the trailers – but Fergie seems to be inspired casting.
In a word, NO.
Kate sounds good. But the first trailer was much better and more exciting.
Her singing and dancing kill! This is a new side to Kate Hudson that we haven’t seen before. I can’t wait to see Nine although I normally don’t like musicals. The cast is amazing.
i think this trailer is the best one yet, i wanted see it already now i cant wait yo see it.plus this songs some up one part of the movie while still being up beat engough that you will remember it
Really? She’s going to be on ITAS? Hmm, oookay. Given the recent guest stars I’m not surprised per se, but her va-jay-jay is more famous and world renowned than her acting career. One decent performance in almost 15 years does not amount to a solid career, and unless she is giving advice on what not to do then she certainly shouldn’t be giving advice to others.
The movie looks interesting, but the song is not good. Sigh.
Um, not really. Nothing against Hudson. But with a cast like this, she is low on my list of draws if I see the movie.
Well, they built up this role for her. The role is pretty much just part of the ensemble in the stage version. And this song certainly isn’t in the original’s score.
While I will see Nine, I hate Kate Hudson (mostly for destroying Owen Wilson) and wish nothing but the worst for her.
The only one who “destroyed” Owen Wilson was Owen Wilson. It’s called mental illness and drug addiction and the ensuing downward spiral particularly when the two are combined. I seem to recall her trying to help him not once, not twice, but three times.
Kate Hudson is the next Renee Z. It’s just that she’s run up her time early. Both did a musical and then that was it. Was Fergie suppose to be looking sexy?
More than a Kate Hudson comeback- …I want a Goldie Hawn comeback!
