Last night on Curb Your Enthusiasm, we got to catch up with the Seinfeld gang 11 years after they were rotting in prison and wow, it was so good to see them.
In the show-within-a-show plot, Larry David staged a Seinfeld reunion only because he wanted to win back his ex-wife Cheryl by giving her a part in the show. (Got that?) The Curb plot, which unfolded as rehearsals for this reunion show, was classical twisty Seinfeld: Elaine had a baby courtesy of Jerry’s donated sperm. George got rich inventing an iToilet app for the iPhone, but lost all his money to Bernie Madoff. To add insult to injury, George’s ex-wife, Amanda (played by Cheryl Hines), still had her hefty divorce settlement, so naturally he wants to win her back. Oh, and Newman was there, too (still a postman). So was George’s mom (still hysterically shrill). Next week’s Curb finale promises even more details on the characters. Did you watch Curb last night? I didn’t mind the series finale (though LOL that keep mention on Curb that they screwed it up). This is as satisfying as it’s going to get, the stories are Seinfeldian enough, right down to Kramer yelling at Jerry’s roomie that he wasn’t the dead guy and realizing he was being recorded before he said something derogatory. I thought the little girl story was a big ick but it’s perfect for Curb–pointing out how inappropriately people allow their kids to communicate with adults on a level that they shouldn’t. I find myself agreeing with Larry more often than not! Love the actress who played the mom–she was good in something else, just can’t remember what.

she was also George’s super efficient assistant, whom he gave a raise to while having sex…at first I wasnt sure if she was supposed to be the same character in the reunion
Yeah, in real life Larry and Jerry like the ending. Their “Curb Your Enthusiasm” persona hate it though, in response to much of the world hating it. That’s funny.
Very funny and very Seinfeld-ian. Loved it!
The past two weeks have been among the best episodes of Curb ever. My favourite parts were Jerry’s reaction to Larry telling him about the girl’s rash and Larry scampering away as Michael Richards started talking to Mrs. Duberstein. Oh, and the callback to Groat’s Disease from an earlier season.

I thought overall it was a good episode. I didn’t like the bit with the little girl though–at least they didn’t make her say the “p” word. The actress who played her mother is Vicki Lewis–she was in a couple of Seinfeld episodes–and a TV series that ran for a year or so–can’t remember the name of it.
News Radio. And it lasted much more than a year.
Word, News Radio was classic. 5 Seasons, including that last one with Lovitz.
Yeah – Vicki Lewis was also in Pushing Tin – the female air traffic controller. Great actress.
I haven’t been real impressed with this season of Curb, but last night’s episode was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on TV. Michael Richards, yelling at the black people, the rash, and the getting to see a bit of another Seinfeld episode were all classic!
Yada yada yada – the SEINFELD reunion storyline was fine but JB Smoove stole the show!

I love how they addressed the Michael Richards incident. The table read was so great, I found myself cracking up at the lines. Plus Larry’s face when he was getting the texts messages and the little girl hugged him.
“It was three years ago, I screwed up, I’m sorry!” SO hilarious.
I kept waiting for it cause there is no way they could not address it. As he came out yelling at Leon and all the camera phones went up, I lost it. Nice.
was good to see how the story continues, wish they would actually make the real reunion episode for the dvd or as a surprise airing on NBC
I enjoy the Larry/Jerry exchanges the most. “You don’t loan Jason anything that can be inserted.”
So right. Larry and Jerry together are great. Their chemistry is perfect.
That’s right! The mom of the texting girl was George’s secretary Ada, who he had sex with and he got her a raise that was more than he made! I loved the part when Michael Richards opens the door, sees the black guy and says “please don’t kill me, I made a mistake, it was three years ago for God’s sake!”
That was a shock and then a laugh!
Don’t know who she was but she was NOT Ada, George’s secretary.
Yes, she was. The woman who played the mom of the “p*ssy girl”, Vicki Lewis played George’s secratery, who he slept with and then gave a raise to.
She did play an employee that George had s3x with – don’t remember if she was a secretary. She was also on NewsRadio and has performed on Broadway (Damn Yankees, et. al.)
BRILLIANT writing! It was a treat to watch the cast together again. I was completely shocked at the little girl “p” issue which means I will never forget this episode. The Richards storyline was clever as well. Hopefully it will help his road to redemption. I started laughing when I saw Larry’s face as George was playing with the pen and kept laughing until the Doctor’s visit!
Genius episode, love the chemistry between Jerry and Larry. The table read really made me miss Seinfeld. It was so spot on.
I LOL. I don’t usually do that. I knew that Larry was going to freak out about Jason and the pen. I found it odd that the mother would tell Larry that her daughter had a rash on her p-. I was waiting for some sort of reveal that she wasn’t talking about the girl’s v-.
It was a good episode and it was great to see the “Seinfeld” crew get back into character. However, there were two bits that were out of place. First off, most women would cever blurt out “My daughter has a rash on her..,” especially to a man. That was forced. Also out of place was the really dirty joke Bob Einstein told to Jerry. I’m guessing Larry David threw these two things in to say, “Hey, this is “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” not ‘Seinfeld.’” While I get that, I thought both moments knocked the show down a notch (especially the woman talking about her daughter’s rash–that would NEVER happen).
i agree the mother talking about the rash on her daughter’s p***y would never happen. But a lot of things that happen in Curb would never happen! It was still very funny! Especially when Larry asked her about it later in front of Jerry, the look on Jerry’s face was hilarious!
It was over the top, but sort of another way of showing that this mom had no sense of privacy or what would be appropriate.
I’ve been laughing at Marty Funkhauser’s joke all day. That was hands down the funniest scene. But the rest was also excellent. Every seen where someone reacted to the P-word. My god. Hilarious.
I forgot about that part! Marty/ Bob Einstein is so funny. That joke was hysterical.
i cannot wait for next sunday. thank you larry david. also, it is clear where the character george kostanza gets all of his motivation (clearly larry david). the reunion has been great so far.

This episode was AMAZING!!! Best Curb episode of all time! The reunion was so surreal…loved every second of it!!
‘No, I don’t watch Witches of Waverly Place. I’M AN ADULT!!!!!’ I think I laughed till I ‘Lizzed.’ And Leon dressing as a Jewish white man ‘I couldn’t even multiply’ and looking like a follower of Farrakhan..Genius!
I always thought that the Seinfeld characters would have gotten an appeal and then suspended sentance.
So, the ‘reunion’ tid-bits make sense.
No real point in piling on, but I can’t help myself.

- As much as we could ever hope for even from a “real” Seinfeld reunion. This was maybe even better.
It is rare that something like this that was so hyped actually lives up to expectations, but this actually exceeded them.
I am a huge fan of Curb and LOVING this season and the reunion arc. With every season of Curb, there are some funny episodes and some that fall a bit flat. Not this season…really hitting its stride. Not everyone gets this show, though. I’ve tried to get some friends to watch and they just don’t know what to think. It’s just genius. Larry David for President!!!!

A comment above reminded me of the “NO I DON’T WATCH “WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE.” I’M AN ADULT!!!!!!!!!!!!” I laughed so hard for so long.
Why in the world wouldn’t there be a “Seinfeld” movie in the works? This is a no brainer, so many people miss the show, it would gross a billion dollars in the first week alone.
Larry David is so twisted. His humor is so refreshing – it’s totally out of line and shocking but he’s so nonchalant about it… Marty and Leon stole the show!
You gave this Seinfeld arc a grade of A, but I have been underwhelmed. It is just not that funny. It is so over the top that the laughs just do not come.

Anyone notice the nods to Seinfeld in actual Curb plots this season too? The “take the pen” dialogue between Jason Alexander and Larry for example. There have been a few others this season too.
I thought the joke about the rash on the girl’s p- was *hilarious*. Not much on comedy shows makes me laugh out loud and that totally did. I love the irreverence of it and the fact that the joke was essentially “can you believe she just said that?” And then Larry deciding if the mother said it, it must be okay to say (thus getting him in hot water) – a typical canny and hilarious Larry David observation on our social foibles. I also loved Jerry’s take on Funkhauser’s joke: “I didn’t expect it to be so repulsive.” I’m loving these shows.
It was funny. I thought the episode with the Black Swan was funnier, as was crazy Funkhauser sister, and Car Felitio.
The Funkhauser joke made me laugh so hard I cried. And I loved how Larry expected Jerry to go along with the “unwritten rule” but he just wouldn’t go for it. Oh, and I think Jerry said it was revolting, not repulsive. In any event, hilarious.
