I started watching NCIS and Bones on my own after seeing it with my parents. But Mythbusters, Iron Chef America, and 60 Minutes remain shows I only watch with them.
I’m back living at my mom’s and most of the time we share the same taste: How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Cougar Town, Glee, Top Chef, Community, Parks & Rec, The Office, Project Runway, Amazing Race, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Lawrence Welk reruns on PBS (don’t judge).
But if I’m home, I am subject to some shows I wouldn’t watch on my own such as Biggest Loser, Suze Orman, most everything on the Food Network, and various shows on HGTV (though I do love House Hunters and Property Virgins).
Wow, I’d fit right in at your house Annie!
The Girls Next Door
LOL!
Pretty much anything on CBS.
I watch a lot of stuff on HGTV with my mom. Mainly House Hunters. She loves it. I never watch it on my own though, only when I’m with her.
America’s Funniest Home Videos and The Amazing Race are the only shows I can watch with my mother. I don’t like Antiques Roadshow and she doesn’t like The Office and Family Guy.
We watch the Food Network, especially Paula Deen and anything with Bobby Flay. But, we also have our “family” movies–Steel Magnolias is a favorite, as well as Father of the Bride.
Parents like the procedural shows, game shows, awards shows, and with my mother if on I enjoy watching Young and Restless.
When I’m home with my mom (or grandmother) it’s Andy Griffith. My mom also likes decorating shows or Law and Order. When I go to my dad’s and my step-mom isn’t watching (!), we end up watching trashy television like Real Housewives or VH1 shows I never normally watch.
My parents watch a lot of HGTV, DIY and Food Network. I like those channels in small doses, but not all day long.
Watching Gossip Girl is family bonding time for me, my mom, and my sisters. It may be a little unorthodox, but mutual hatred of Vanessa can be great tool to bring people together.
Personally, i prefer Supernatural, but what can you do?
Big Love, mostly because the parents have HBO & I don’t, so when I come in town to visit we have a Big Love marathon of the episodes I’ve missed.

Anna – jinx! The Food Network is indeed the only network my Mom watches, too, so that. With my Dad I watch Law & Order.
Same! My dad rarely watches tv, so it’s special when I watch certain things with him. Sometimes, we watch Law and Order, Two and a Half Men, Jeopardy, Friends, Flight of the Conchords, and hunting shows. Only on occasion, though.
I started watching Bones and House because my family loves them, now I’m obssesed. I only watch Two and a Half Men with my parents.
