Amy Adams 'Leap Year' trailer: More than just another witless rom-com? Or...not?

Okay, full disclosure: I loathe movies in which seemingly smart, talented women consider snagging a man (a barftastic expression in and of itself) to be Read the full post.

I don’t care what you all say, i love rom coms! and Amy Adams! And Mathew Good! Sorry, but my day to day sucks, and movies like this just cheer me up!

Amy Adams is great but I LOVE Mathew Goode!

Okay, I love Amy Adams and would watch her in anyything but I will wait for Netflix. I am a rom-com fan from way back. I love the 30′s, 40′s and beyond but rom-coms have lost it. Give me a smart one like “When Harry Met Sally” or even a cheesey but sweet one like “While You Were Sleeping” over what they are giving us lately.

I read the script, and it’s very in keeping with the rom-com mentioned above, cliche wise…however, I still thought it was pretty fun, and I love the leads. Also, it read better than Made of Honor and 27 dresses, and most bridezilla movies of late. (I don’t know how much the script has changed though)

Looks a lot like French Kiss (w/ Meg Ryan)…anyone else agree?

ALL ROM COMS ARE AWFUL. Amy Adams is horrible. It’s not cute when 40 year old women still try to act like innocent teens! Legaly Blonde syndrome.

Avoid this film. It’s offensive to me as an Irishman because it gives such an inaccurate portrait of my country. It’s as if it was set in a fictional Ireland of the 1930′s rather than an Ireland that is among the wealthiest most advanced industrial societies in the world. I simply don’t recognise my own country in the trailer,it’s as if everything of the last 60 years has been airbrushed out of the picture.Anyone who has ever been to Ireland will agree. If you want a good Irish rom-com check out “About Adam”.

Anyone ever seen *I Know Where I’m Going!*? Because it is this exact same movie. Girl goes to propose in Scotland, gets stranded by some mishaps, falls for some other dude…

The article was very well written…it’s so refreshing when someone is capable of injecting humour in something as common as this. Thanks!

what is the name of the song played during the credits at the end of the movie?

Have you seen it or just speculating? I just saw this film tonight. It was pretty good. It certainly wasn’t “The Proposal”, that’s for sure (that one made me sort of gag, and the love scenes, even with Sandra Bullock weren’t even good. Leap Year had tender and funny love scenes and yeah, there was that inevitable falls-on her-face-and-misses-the-train-too-many-times comedic aspect for Amy Adams (she got pretty tortured in this film) but watching her with Matthew Goode was worth all the pitfalls, and the dorky, elitist jerk she chases all over Ireland to try and marry. See it before you say anymore and get back to me. Slainte!
