Our Must pick belongs in the background of a 'Grey's Anatomy' scene. What are you loving this week?

I was introduced to Snow Patrol through Grey’s Anatomy (I sit at my computer during my favorite TV shows Googling lyrics because I can’t wait until the next day for the song list to post), and have since downloaded most of the songs on their greatest hits collection, which released this week.¬†There are tons of gems on the Scottish/Irish rocker’s 30-track,¬†two-CD complication, Up to Now, including three new songs. For anyone who likes to spend their days believing their life is a scene from a movie or television show (the world is so much more fun that way), it is a definite MUST.

But enough about that. What are YOU Musting over in the world of TV/music/books/movies/online? Submit your suggestions by Thursday at noon ET. Remember to tell us why you think your pick is awesome and to leave us your e-mail address (in case we put your pick in the magazine!).

I’m pretty sure I heard the entire internet explode yesterday when that new Lady Gaga video was posted to YouTube.

I don’t have any picks this week, but I do have a question: Out of all the readers’ responses, how do you choose the ones to feature in the magazine and on the readers picks list, like the one here?: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20209564_20209587_20298826,00.html (Aim and Ignite is an awesome album by the way, even in the fall.)

I like the new Switchfoot cd a lot. It’s been three years. It’s about time.

Am I the only person for whom Snow Patrol was ruined by being in every sappy/crappy tv drama, trailer, and movie?

I don’t mean this from a music snob perspective. i think it is great that more people love Snow Patrol. But Snow Patrol became so overplayed and used as an instant way to give brevity to some pretty bad cheesy stuff (what was that horrendous Kevin Costner/Ashton Kutcher movie?). I broke up with Grey’s Anatomy a long time ago and do not want to associate Snow Patrol with the insane over-emoting that occurs there.

How lovely a song is Somewhere a Clock is Ticking? So lovely.

TV shows seem to be doing that to a lot of artists lately. Once a song gets airplay because of one show (usually Grey’s Anatomy), you hear it everywhere after that. The same thing happened to KT Tunstall and The Fray.

It could be worse. They could be in Twilight.

      • ernie

While Twilight is lame, it doesn’t seem to hurt the bands to be in Twilight soundtracks.

I like Grey’s Anatomy, mostly bc of the music. It shows you good stuff. But I agree, KT Tunstall was ruined by tv/movies

Right? Death Cab, you’re breaking my heart!

Watching this makes me want to go and rent the first two seasons again. Man, it was such a great show back then.

    • Krista

same.. this is one of those songs that I will forever associate with Grey’s Anatomy (the other being the Fray’s How to Save a life). this reminds me of how GREAT the first two seasons were and it makes me sad that the show will never be that good again

Up on DVD. It’s my new favorite Pixar movie, and it melts my heart.
Also, The Killers Live from the Royal Albert Hall CD/DVD. I’ve never had the opportunity to see The Killers live, but this is almost as good, if not just a little bit better.

I found one of my favorite records for 2009 (A Brief History of Love by The Big Pink) from its use in the trailer for Skins on BBC America. The song that was used was “Dominos” by UK duo The Big Pink. I love its blend of Britpop with loud shoegazey guitars and synths. The lyric of “These girls fall like dominos, dominos, dominos” will stick in your head…So dreamy

I listen to a British radio station at work, totally agree with that line sticking in your head. Good tune too!

Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” video has to without a doubt be on the must list this week. Everyone has been talking about it. The storyline is great, her style flawless:the shoes are crazy, not to mention those eyes:creepy!Awesome dance moves with a great throwback to Thriller. Best video of the year, period.

  • Rahul

‘(500) Days of Summer’ on DVD. Fantastic. The best romance since ‘Before Sunset’.

  • Krista

Glee soundtrack is on my Must list this week (even though it came out last week). The songs are great and it just makes me feel good!!

  • Annie

Lie To Me on FOX. It is getting so great this season. Tim Roth and Kelli Williams are excellent.

    • ernie

      I agree.

  • Sina

I know this will not get mentioned but Jonathan Jackson on General Hospital. His scenes with Tony Geary were magically. So were hei scenes with Rebecca Herbst. Also Bonnie on Vampire Daires. I am really getting into her character. She is getting more interesting. Also the Daytime Confidential PodCasts on daytimeconfidential.com. They are so funny.

Thanks for deleting my comment, Sandra, when I was the first one to leave one.

  • Broadway Baby

Nick Offerman on Parks and Recreation. He’s (expletive)Ron Swanson.

  • Elizabeth

Allison Brie – Hostess with the Mostess – as Trudy on “Mad Men” and Annie on “Community”. I instantly liked her on Community, but during the last two eps of Mad Men, I began to like Trudy. I know that hack of a guide to television gave her a shout out this week, but she deserves a spot on the must list, or at the very least the bullseye. COME ON!!
–and I agree with TV/Movies ruining music. Seriously, can we have an intervention with ABC/ESPN and remove their copy of the new Muse CD?
