When I was (confession) watching The City last night, I saw this promo for Jersey Shore, coming to MTV on Dec. 3. Should be just the thing to chase away the winter blues and pretend you’re drinking a Long Island Iced Tea in a horrible nightclub with sweaty meatheads.
In my own very brief visits to the Jersey Shore (Manasquan, Wildwood) I witnessed some hair-gelled, Red-Bull-and-vodka-slamming guys, but nothing near the level of idiocy seen in this teaser. MTV is promising a whole summer-share house full of the “hottest, tannest, craziest guidos.” Fists are pumping on the dancefloor and fists are flying as couples get into punchups.
Looks like deliciously trashy fun, right? Or are there any Jerseyites who want to defend their honor against these clichés?

I AM from Jersey, but there is nothing I can do to defend this. I mean, really, MTV, who is in charge of your programming that you thought THIS was a good idea? Why can’t everyone just leave NJ alone?!?!?!?!?!?
THANK U! born & raised in NJ & this show is PATHETICALLY WRONG!
I know. I gave up caring about the guidos. They’re unstoppable at this point.
And let the Jersey stereotypes continue. Honestly, people need to realize there’s much more to Jersey than the crappy area around Newark and the guido infested north Jersey shore. I swear people, it’s nice here. Seriously…
Please…make it all stop. Could someone arrest the program director for Mtv, Mtv2, and VH1 and have them sent to Gitmo for crimes against the American people?
its people like these clowns who make people think we all act like this – i doubt theyre even from jersey
they may be from north jersey. or new york. but these aren’t real jersey shore people. they are bennys and shoobies
There not there from New york! I live at the jersey shore and those are the “benny’s” we make fun of. I think i should grab a video camera and fallow my friends around for a summer…that would really be the “jersey shore”
Insulting. I have grown up at the Jersey Shore, neither myself nor ANY of my friends act like this. However, these dummies come down and pour their money into our area which is fine with me! Who cares what people think, I know we don’t act this way so that’s all that matters. My only objection is that MTV should broadcast how much they trash our beaches – it’s a crime. Their steroids, hairspray and fist pumping? I’ll laugh just like I do when they are here. And laugh harder when they get themselves arrested for being ridiculous. Ha!
Are these people really from Jersey or are they from Staten Island? I have lived in Jersey all my life and people like those depicted above are few and far between. They probably hang out in Seaside Heights. I will gladly stay in my beautiful South Jersey with the wonderful farms, pine barrens, and fresh air.
You’re right! Most guidos are from Staten Island or Brooklyn, listen to the New York accents in the videos (not pronouncing the “R”, saying “AKS” instead of “ASK” etc).
North Jersey has wonderful farms, fresh air and forests too, and people there tend to be more sophisticated than in South Jersey.
Plus you have you’re own version of the guidos there from Philadelphia, and also other Pensylvania geeks.
Can they legally still call themselves mtv? moron tv, mini brains tv, more drucken-sociopaths tv……
I second the South Jersey awesomeness. And I completely reject this show. That is not the real Jersey.
I am soooo tired of THESE dummies being the ones that represent NJ. My friends and I do not act like that. When we see people who act like those 4 people, we laugh at them. trashy is right.
Wow…..this is kinda like the Real World. Might as well call it Real World: The Jersey Shore. Lol
I have never seen anyone like these people here in South Jersey. Hold that thought – they are usually the shoobies that come to the shore.
this is exactly what new jersey is like.
If you were from NJ then you’d know that this represents only a very small part of NJ.
new jersey is nothing like this. the people that they show on these commericials are bennys and shoobies. they come from north jersey and new york. they arent real jersey shore people.
Im from new jersey and I love the idea behind this show…everyone whos acutally from the state knows the guidos at places like seaside are hysterical and we make fun of them as much as people who arent from new jersey. Nobody thinks everybody that is from new jersey acts like this so theres no reason to get all offended by it.
Jersey Guidos are the joke of the state. I live at Jersey shore and these morons show up each year dumpping money into the area. Bennies like this are actually fun to watch because they are such a joke. Any true new jerseyan knows that guidos are merely a deterrent to having more people live here.
Yeah, there are people from Jersey like this but it’s not ALL people from Jersey. Most of us are pretty normal and generally grossed out by the freakish excess on shows like this and Real Housewives of NJ. It’s funny to me because I know better but i’m horrified that people from other parts of the country think this represents my state.
I just want to say that I won a dance competition in the Jersey Shore in 2005, and these “guidos” are real people too with real feelings. Stop trashing them please. There are many decks to build and walls to paint…someone has to do it.
MTV continues its march into irrelevancy. Do teens even watch this stuff anymore?
I was born and raised in Jersey and this is exactly why I can no longer enjoy the jersey shore. BENNY’s GO HOME!!!
I have to totally agree woth the comments below. I have lived in Jersey my whole life, the last 9 years down the Shore. I have never met anyone like the people in this show. They are probably all bennies from North Jersey and New York.
This is like a joke, I’m a local to the Jersey Shore. I live by the Bay, 10 minutes from Seaside and these guys make me sick. If your gonna name a show “Jersey Shore” don’t make it about a bunch of spoiled Benny’s from North Jersey
guidos are not from new jersey, the guidos that come to the jersey shore in the summer are bennies from north jersey, new york, and pennsylvania. This show is basically about the tourists that some to the jersey shore in the summer..why is that interesting? I find them annoying.
everything about this promo is true.
its not true. televison is giving new jersey such a bad name. real housewives of new jersey, true life i live in the jersey shore, and now this. they are only showing the trashy people of new jersey. this show is only exploiting people from north jersey and new york, these are not real jersey shore people
Yea, we do intend to defend our name. These people are known as Bennies, people who don’t live at the Jersey shore and intend to make our place, our beach, a stereotypical load of crap. Find the group on Facebook : Protest MTV’s Jersey Shore!
Forgot to had he was also a heroin addict for a short while, probably still is since that is a hard habit to break. Although, he doctor shops now, a quick search of his medical records will prove this.
North Jersey and South Jersey need to be 2 different states. They are night and day. North Jersey is scum and thats what this is.
Anyone remember the slogan “South Jersey-The Secret State”? These guys are the reason why!
The a-hole who added the words “dirty” and “needle ridden” to the review is probably an ignorent New Yorker who has never been to the Jersey Shore. New Jersey’s beaches are the cleanest in the nation, and have the strictest water standard laws in the country. Look it up if you’re not too intellectually challenged. To believe a worn out stereotype that was never true in the first place is asinine! If you love dirty beaches, try New York, I hear that there’s more rats and garbage than sand!
First off, it’s Jerseyan not Jerseyite, Pulitzer. Second, most of these meatheads are from Staten Island, home of one of the biggest garabage dumps in the world, which explains the need for the hair spray (got to hold it in place somehow before it falls out). Third, as long as these walking abortions keep dumping money into NJ, so be it. Finally, MTV – can you please go into oblivion finally? No one cares.
While one could make a strong argument for this trailer as representative of certain elements of Jerz such as Wildwood and Seaside, try Friday happy hour at the Stone Harbor Yacht Club or the annual Cottagers Club party in Cape May. There are so many wannabe blueblood stuck-ups and social-climbing snobs at those events (also plenty of hot Main Line moms) that Lilly and Vineyard Vines will haunt your dreams for weeks.
While hair gel and Kangol may rule parts of the Jersey shore, docksiders and pearl earrings also have their place at the table.
i live in north jersey and umm no its acutally not scum so all of you who dont live in nj and dont live in north jersey stop saying things. u dont know what your talking about. GROW UP YOU DONT LIVE HERE.. get over yourselfs
I live 2 miles away from where this is filmed and I can tell you NO ONE in this area is even slightly like this. Seaside Heights .. where this was filmed is boardwalk resort area where these NEW YORKERS .. YES, NEW YORKERS come down to party/hang out/act like idiots. I saw this being filmed during the summer and while many many people in Seaside look like this 99% are normal families everday familes driving mini vans with their kids or normal couples having a good time having a few drinks. The show is promoting a stero type for ratings. The rear problem is almost 99.9% of these people are New Yorkers .. NOT from New Jersey. The show should be funny though!
