MTV's 'Jersey Shore' -- let the fist pumping commence

When I was (confession) watching The City last night, I saw this promo for Jersey Shore, coming to MTV on Dec. 3. Should be just the thing to chase away the winter blues and pretend you’re drinking a Long Island Iced Tea in a horrible nightclub with sweaty meatheads.

In my own very brief visits to the Jersey Shore (Manasquan, Wildwood) I witnessed some hair-gelled, Red-Bull-and-vodka-slamming guys, but nothing near the level of idiocy seen in this teaser. MTV is promising a whole summer-share house full of the “hottest, tannest, craziest guidos.” Fists are pumping on the dancefloor and fists are flying as couples get into punchups.

Looks like deliciously trashy fun, right? Or are there any Jerseyites who want to defend their honor against these clichés?

I AM from Jersey, but there is nothing I can do to defend this. I mean, really, MTV, who is in charge of your programming that you thought THIS was a good idea? Why can’t everyone just leave NJ alone?!?!?!?!?!?

    • Tara Rysak

THANK U! born & raised in NJ & this show is PATHETICALLY WRONG!

      • Caestus

I know. I gave up caring about the guidos. They’re unstoppable at this point.

  • Chris

And let the Jersey stereotypes continue. Honestly, people need to realize there’s much more to Jersey than the crappy area around Newark and the guido infested north Jersey shore. I swear people, it’s nice here. Seriously…

    • italiaboy

exactly nicer than most of the country everytime i go to the beech its perfect the sand is cleaner than anyother beech in the country and nobody acts that way exept hollywood and this is far from that

  • darclyte

Please…make it all stop. Could someone arrest the program director for Mtv, Mtv2, and VH1 and have them sent to Gitmo for crimes against the American people?

  • andrew

its people like these clowns who make people think we all act like this – i doubt theyre even from jersey

    • Kim T

they may be from north jersey. or new york. but these aren’t real jersey shore people. they are bennys and shoobies

      • chris higgins

haha did you really just say shoobies?

    • Mary Ellen Mathis

There not there from New york! I live at the jersey shore and those are the “benny’s” we make fun of. I think i should grab a video camera and fallow my friends around for a summer…that would really be the “jersey shore”

      • Joe

You should probably learn how to spell first.

  • PrincessoftheBeach

Insulting. I have grown up at the Jersey Shore, neither myself nor ANY of my friends act like this. However, these dummies come down and pour their money into our area which is fine with me! Who cares what people think, I know we don’t act this way so that’s all that matters. My only objection is that MTV should broadcast how much they trash our beaches – it’s a crime. Their steroids, hairspray and fist pumping? I’ll laugh just like I do when they are here. And laugh harder when they get themselves arrested for being ridiculous. Ha!

  • Mavis

Are these people really from Jersey or are they from Staten Island? I have lived in Jersey all my life and people like those depicted above are few and far between. They probably hang out in Seaside Heights. I will gladly stay in my beautiful South Jersey with the wonderful farms, pine barrens, and fresh air.

    • BOB

You’re right! Most guidos are from Staten Island or Brooklyn, listen to the New York accents in the videos (not pronouncing the “R”, saying “AKS” instead of “ASK” etc).

    • don

North Jersey has wonderful farms, fresh air and forests too, and people there tend to be more sophisticated than in South Jersey.
Plus you have you’re own version of the guidos there from Philadelphia, and also other Pensylvania geeks.

      • Mel

I agree – people from Northern NJ are plenty sophisticated…I find it pretty comical actually that residents from the southern half of the state talk-down the Northern half when anyone and everyone knows that the cost of living, housing and income levels in general up north are significantly higher than in the south…but i guess that makes us “white crash”, uneducated “losers”, right?

      • maria

white crash?? no, the term is “trash”… and the closer you go to NY, the more rude the people you meet, so please do not think that North Jersey is in any way better then Central or South Jersey.

  • mike

Can they legally still call themselves mtv? moron tv, mini brains tv, more drucken-sociopaths tv……

  • S

I second the South Jersey awesomeness. And I completely reject this show. That is not the real Jersey.

  • Genevieve

I am soooo tired of THESE dummies being the ones that represent NJ. My friends and I do not act like that. When we see people who act like those 4 people, we laugh at them. trashy is right.

  • harharharsdays

Wow…..this is kinda like the Real World. Might as well call it Real World: The Jersey Shore. Lol

  • Jen

I have never seen anyone like these people here in South Jersey. Hold that thought – they are usually the shoobies that come to the shore.

  • C

this is exactly what new jersey is like.

    • BOB

If you were from NJ then you’d know that this represents only a very small part of NJ.

    • Kim T

new jersey is nothing like this. the people that they show on these commericials are bennys and shoobies. they come from north jersey and new york. they arent real jersey shore people.

      • k

wellll isn’t north jersey still part of jersey. just a thought

    • il0veNJ

Uh your retarted these people are from NEW YORK. ANd jersey don’t like you anyway so stay the hell out!

  • jeremy

Im from new jersey and I love the idea behind this show…everyone whos acutally from the state knows the guidos at places like seaside are hysterical and we make fun of them as much as people who arent from new jersey. Nobody thinks everybody that is from new jersey acts like this so theres no reason to get all offended by it.

    • Abby

I completely agree! It is a reality tv show, not a documentary.

  • Joeda

Jersey Guidos are the joke of the state. I live at Jersey shore and these morons show up each year dumpping money into the area. Bennies like this are actually fun to watch because they are such a joke. Any true new jerseyan knows that guidos are merely a deterrent to having more people live here.

  • Kaia

Yeah, there are people from Jersey like this but it’s not ALL people from Jersey. Most of us are pretty normal and generally grossed out by the freakish excess on shows like this and Real Housewives of NJ. It’s funny to me because I know better but i’m horrified that people from other parts of the country think this represents my state.

    • stephanie

LOL they are the same jerk offs that think all us Texans ride horses around town.

      • Melinda

        Ha ha ha!
