'Dollhouse' canceled: Are we peeved or pleased by this development?

It seems that, sometimes, no matter how smart, how full of ideas, how fun a thing may be, it will still outlive it’s usefulness to Read the full post.

It’s about time. I, for one, can’t believe they kept this crap and canceled Sarah Conner Chronicles.

I’m sorry but it’s about time. The show was weak and the acting of Eliza Dushku was a joke. I really wanted to get into the show but could not for the life of me do that. I’m up to date with all the episodes so far so I’m not judging it after watching just a few.

I loved Buffy and Firefly, but the only good episodes of Dollhouse were the ones where Eliza Dushku played a supporting role. She’s a bad actress, and acts the exact same way no matter what role she plays – which doesn’t fit when you’re playing someone who is supposed to adopt a number of different personalities. The other actors on the show were fantastic, and I’ll watch their careers closely. I agree that Eliza Dushku find a cop show and call it a day. Joss should go back to the drawing board.

    Pleased! :)

It was getting better, true, but it was never my favorite Whedon show. It didn’t have the humor or sly wit of his other shows. And how could we fall in love with a main character who changed who she was every week? Plus the idea of a Dollhouse was just icky and seemed like a show about high-priced hookers. Not gonna attract many viewers with that premise.

Hopefully Joss will focus on bringing back Firefly on SyFy or a sequel to Serenity!

Dont care. I really WANTED to like the show, I really did, and gave it far more of a chance then I do most shows. I simply never cared. As the show progressed, you realized Eliza’s character’s “real” personality was that of an obnoxious whiny loudmouth. Combine that with the fact that the guy playing the FBI agent continues to be one of the most humorless bores in acting history. He was just as boring on this as he was on Galactica. The best scene in the series was Patton Oswalt exposing that character for the powerless bullying A-hole he really was, basically laughing in his face. That was awesome, but its tough to follow a series when you arent rooting for Eliza to break free or the FBI D-bag to expose the Dollhouse.

I thought the pilot was really Odd and was surprised to see it lasted as long as it did!

  • Hork

The show was doomed from the start; I can’t believe it ever got renewed. The fact that it’s premise requires actors with unlimited range, and it cast an actress with the most limited range possible to be the star should have killed it immediately. It’s a testament to the skill of the rest of the cast and the compelling premise that it lasted as long as it did.

Adding my plug for Sarah Connor as well! But I am sorry for the die-hard fans of this show (if any…); I speak from first hand experiencing TSCC withdrawal.

    • Peter

I with you bro, I loved TSCC and was really upset when they canceled the series.

    • Adam

Well thanks for feeling sorry for me(A die hard fan) which is a lot more than some other TSCC fans who can be downright MEAN, but I understand them to, I’ve had plenty of my own shows canned and remember how i felt, but the worst thing in tv is to end with a cliffhanger which is why i hated the TSCC ending(I watched too) but a bunch of the fans were just mean because Dollhouse was more likely to be renewed all along, but I understand that pain all too well, but thanks anyway for your condolences

Joss has been saying for a while now that once this show was over he’d focus all of his efforts on the internet. I submit to you: Dr. Horrible Franchise.

  • Laz

You gotta be kidding to ask this. To be pleased you’d have to NOT be watching the show. It was awesome. And I have the feeling it’ll become even *awesomer* in the remaining 9 eps.

  • homer

Another show I got into and had it yanked away. BRING BACK FIREFLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rebecca

I’m pissed. I really enjoyed Dollhouse and I think it was finally hitting its stride this season. I wish that Fox would have given it more time. What are they gonna put on in its place? Another hour of the awful “Brothers”?

  • boe

Couldn’t care less about DollHouse but if we are talking Whedon we should bring back Firefox which never got a decent try. Of course my taste may not be mainstream – I’d also like them to bring back Reaper.

    • LGB

Firefly… firefox is a web browser, though if Joss made a show about a web browser I know I’d watch
