Everybody spent this episode of 90210 dealing with that old dramatic standby, parental baggage. The problem? They’ve never quite managed to integrate the adults into the action as seamlessly as some other teen dramas do (and even Gossip Girl struggles sometimes) — this week’s made some strides with some parental story lines but got a little snoozy with others.
It was, unfortunately, a case of the latter when it came to Dixon and Deb Wilson. I’ve loved that the fake-pregnancy story line has brought Mama Wilson back into the fold, but I’m just not invested enough in the mom/son relationship here in the first place to care now. It was all melodramatics. She came clean to him about knowing Sasha had engineered the whole knocked-up thing and explained, “I didn’t want you to get your heart broken and not trust women again.” His answer (of course): “Now I know one woman I don’t trust.” Later, after a yelling fight, he even hit Dad with this one: “Whatever. It’s not like she’s my real mom.” Tristan Wilds and Lori Laughlin deserve better! The Wire! Full House!
Even Jasper the drug dealer was dealing in his own daddy stuff a bit, telling Annie how thrilled he was that his producer father loved the big movie these two crazy kids have been working on. (I’m waiting for this thing to show up in its entirety online, CW!) He even got her an audition for a small part in Dad’s new Shia LaBoeuf movie! Jasper’s got bigger problems, though: Namely, Navid — after witnessing him selling drugs to Adriana — is about to use the journalistic power of The Blaze to take him down. (Never underestimate the reporting powers of Rumer Willis, I say.) But, hey, Jasper’s a multitasker, and while avoiding the press, he also managed to storyboard Annie’s drowning death and also take her virginity. (Remember the olden days, when virginity loss was an entire Very Special Episode? One that didn’t involve storyboarded deaths?)
As much as I’ve resisted the Jackie cancer storyline — its seriousness felt a little weighty for our little wisp of a bitchfest here — it provided some nice moments here. I thought Teddy was going to serve strictly as a troublemaker when he first showed up at West Bev, all buff and 30-something-looking, but what a nice surprise support system he’s become for Silver. He played cards and listened to music with Jackie! He offered to go pick up medical records! I liked him as a force for evil, but I actually like him better as a force for good — go figure. What’ll be even more interesting is if he eventually acts on the genuine sparks he has with Silver, and is suddenly interested in the relationship he swore he wasn’t with Adriana. Meanwhile, he even helped Jackie set up an elaborate mother-daughter half-birthday celebration for Silver, with each room containing a separate themed party she’d wanted as a kid but didn’t get (astronaut party, camping party, ’80s party). Kinda wacky, kinda adorable. Do these 90210ers love an odd grand gesture, or what? (See also: Adriana serenading Navid last week.) But when Silver awoke in the tent with Mom the next morning, Jackie wouldn’t wake up — and now I’m really worried for Jackie, and sad that Silver won’t get her friends’ half-birthday party. (Though, of course, the Mom one was far more important.)
It also appears we’re finally inching in on a resolution of the Jen-Liam-Naomi mess. And I gotta say: I like this little Liam-Dixon-Teddy-Ivy surfer friendship circle that has developed. After bottling up his anger all episode, Liam finally talked about his feelings (awww) to his friends — and spilled the whole Jen secret. (“That super-hot Amazon chick from the NERD party?” Teddy asked.) Then they vowed to work together to take her down, which sounds a little like a Gossip Girl plot, but ended with the all-for-one declaration: “It’s not how you’re gonna do it. It’s how we’re gonna do it.”
Please, please, just do it already! What did you think, PopWatchers? What’s Jasper up to? What better storyline can we get for Dixon? Will Silver and Teddy get together? What will the Fearless Foursome do to take down Jen?

I hope to God they take down Jen soon; she drives me absolutely crazy, and I hate that she keeps ruining things to Liam. I can’t wait to see her get what’s coming to her.
I hate that she keeps screwing over Naomi and that Naomi is too stupid to notice.
And how much money does Naomi actually have? I seem to recall she got a million for her trust fund? That’s can’t last too long especially in that house they’re renting and the 100k she gave to pay for the “divorce attorney”.
I agree – she’s not even in the ‘love to hate’ category ala Heather Locklear’s Amanda. I just hate her.
Does anyone else think Jasper is not storyboarding Annie’s death, but planning it? Is his little movie a snuff film?
I do. He’s a creeper and he’s up to something. And thats fine by me.
I got that vibe, too. Which is all well and cool, but PLEASE, CW writers, take heed, and do NOT get rid of Jasper. He rounds out the cast nicely, and his bad boy vibe is something they could run with. I happen to think he’s actually pretty hot, and while not as much of a pretty boy, I’m gonna say what I say week after week, which is that Annie and Jasper are the new Brenda and Dylan. And before you think I’m one of those weird older ladies obsessed with the old show and comparing everything from the new one to the old, I’m not. I just would love to see an actual regular cast addition that isn’t a) a pretty boy, or b) a bad guy that shortly realizes the err of his ways and finds his moral compass. Let’s actually keep a character around (besides Jen, who I hate solely for her annoying mannerisms and voice) that isn’t so easy to reform, like, I don’t know, Naomi, Liam, and Adriana. Please! Jasper is turning into my favorite character, and he and Annie seem to have great chemistry.
The problem with Jasper is – he’s not just a bad boy the way that Dylan was. Jasper is a drug dealer, threatens people with weapons, destroys other people’s property and is obviously up to no good with Annie. Dylan – for all his bad boy posturing – was really a good guy.
I have to agree that Jasper and Dylan are not close to one and the same. In fact, when I was watching the episode I was thinking that Liam is totally the new Dylan. He’s got a teeny hint of a bad boy thing going on (he fights surfers when he’s troubled! he builds secret things and hides them under tarps!)and Jasper is like over the top bad boy. Dealing drugs, being super creepy (being creepy on tv is almost a sure sign that you’re full-blown psychotic), drawing drownings, these are all way beyond anything Dylan ever did. Until he graduated high school anyway (let’s just forget the experimental time-travelling Dylan and “I’m making a movie with a motel clerk and the mafia” Dylan). Jasper will not last long on this show in my opinion. Either he’ll go to jail or be killed for trying to kill Annie (please let him succeed!!) or something else will happen to take him to another school/mental hospital. I think his character exists purely to further the Annie storyline and give her someone to interact with since none of the other 90210-ers will acknowledge her existence, except to tell her to go to hell.
Does anyone not realize that this is all a setup and Jasper does know that Annie killed his Uncle and is using this movie to get back at her. I mean he filmed her actually stealing a car and various other illegal things.
I’ve been saying this for a while too, but it’s just a theory. Seeing the storyboarded “drowning” has got me considering whether he’s simply making a confessional movie to get her back, or if he’s planning on tacking on her actual death at the end as a sort of “self-sacrifice” to repent for what she did. It seems more likely that this is the case now, even though I wish it was more of an expose to show everyone what she did.
If he showed the movie to everyone with Annie there it would be scandalous and shocking and awesome. And Annie would have no way of getting out of it. And she would probably have to leave the show, what with jail and all.
On the other hand, if he’s planning a murder at the end, now we’ll have to wait for someone to discover the plan and rescue Annie before it’s too late. This leaves open too many possibilities for Annie to get away with everything again. I don’t like.
Or maybe, Jasper will finish his film and kill her already.
As a total non-fan of Annie, I’d be happiest with 1 or 3 obviously, but something tells me not to get too excited just yet…
On a happier subject, I love the Fearless Foursome and I can’t wait to see Jen get taken down.
I spelled my own name wrong. Awesome.
What I hate most about the Jen-Liam-Naomie mess is the sexism it displays. How is it that Annie gets outcasted (and is wasn’t just for calling the cops) for supposedly having sex with Liam and he gets into no trouble at all. I hate that. Liam even becomes friends with Dixon, Annie’s brother who treats her as an outcast and Liam as a friend. It just annoys me to no end. Especially Annie being condemned for a crime she didn’t commit. And has anyone notice that Ivy is accepted because she acts like a ‘boy’, that she has to surf like a man to be accepted. And the whole Liam flirts with her through sexist remarks was unbearable to watch too.
This story does display sexism, but it’s realistic. Girls are always penalized more for sexual behavior, unfortunately.
I agree w/ Faze – did you actually go to high school Penny? That is EXACTLY what happens in HS. And there are some guys who are more attracted to girls who are ‘just one of the guys’ as Ivy is (and as am I and that’s what my bf loves about me!)
Your right I didn’t go to high school, i actually practiced the fine art of social oblivion.
Well, the girls ostracized her for sleeping with Liam (friend betrayal is far worse than boyfriend betrayal), but the guys are mad at her for calling the cops on the prom party, which landed them all in summer school. I don’t think the guys really care that she supposedly slept with Liam.
I only watched a handful of episodes season 1 but have been watching regularly season 2. Wasn’t Annie the ’star’ of the show – or at least, the main girl, the first season? The character (heck, almost the whole family) could easily be written out since most of the other characters don’t even interact with them – and Annie just seems extremely unpleasant (her constant ‘put out’ attitude is not entertaining to watch week after week).
Annie is the Brenda and Naomi is the Kelly- in the original, Kelly took over. Thats just happening faster on 2.0
Naomi has barely appeared in the last 3 episodes. So I don’t know how you can say she is taking over.
She is “put out” b/c she austracized (sorry for spelling) herself after the prom debacle and the hit-and-run of Jasper’s uncle. Her parents made an effort, but she rebuffed it. She did try to make up w/ her friends, but they wouldnt believe her about Liam, so they all abandoned her. That is also why I think she is so desperate to keep Jasper (after all the warnings) – b/c she has no one else.
I just want to reach through the TV and slap Annie she is so dumb sometimes and she keeps taking up for this Jasper dude that she knows nothing about and she has absolutely no friends besides him..Even as to make a suggestion as to Dixon apologizing if I was Dixon I would’ve told her to go straight to hell as well…And I can’t wait for them to take Jen down..
Every time Dixon tries to apologize to Annie she runs her big fat mouth and makes him change his mind. She has no one to blame but herself.
I actually cheered when Liam came clean with his pals and they began to engineer the Jen takedown. It cannot happen soon enough! I have no doubt that Teddy in particular will be the brains behind this operation. (Though now I’m distracted thinking about how Teddy actually looks older than Jen…)
Watching Lori Loughlin & Tristan Wilds last night was a joy, they made me give a damn about what was going on, I doubt anyone else would have given that story. Dixon’s birth mother was a liar, naturally he doesn’t react well to lies. He’s still in that immature pt. of his life, where he believes he knows what he’s doing & won’t reach out, Debbie loves him but knows there’s a part of him she can’t relate to. So I loved the fight, I was sad and frustrated through thier scenes, Dixon is a handful, Debbie should is just starting to learn it’s not that easy. Oh can Annie/Dixon stop fighting already, my god what happened to those two? Sad half b-day for Silver and Adrianna. I like the Liam/Dixon/Ivy/Teddy friendship (take that bitch down), but Teddy becomes overload on my screen, why isn’t he more low key like Ivy? I love Ivy, it’s about time a girl that can stand on her own v. the guys is represented, I don’t like the Ivy/Liam thing, better off as friends until her character is developed.
Dixon needs a reality check and also a slap upside the head – possibly with one of those expensive gadgets he has in his room and maybe with the keys to the fancy car he’s driving. Ungrateful little brat.
agreed– I love how Dixon is not held accountable for his actions with Sasha, but instead, he’s playing video games and Daddy’s pulling strings to give him back his privileges! AND he’s acting all self-righteous to his mother. Dixon needs that slap for real.
Dixon’s a jerk, nuff said
The actress playing Ivy plays her seemingly really tough, but when she looks at Liam, there’s such vulnerability and emotion there. Its lovely. Kudos to the actress!
Last night’s episode was kinda slow at first but I loved what Jackie did for Silver as a loyal fan of the original 90210 Jackie Taylor is a classic character and I liked how they are ending her character with redemption and not just the drunk cokehead she was. I am sad for Silver but I think this was a great way to end the story line of her mommy issues. As far as the Jen-Liam-Naomi thing I am glad Liam finally came clean about it and I think that its nice to see that the guys are coming together and not acting like seperate charachters. It sucks that Dixon and Annie cant get along but atleast its keeping things juicy within that family hopefully next week Jasper gets taken down and Jen finally gets put in her place by Liam and the boys and Ivy
They could get rid of the whole Wilson family at this point and I would not miss them
agreed!
I agree too. Let Debbie & the kids move from BH and keep Harry. This way Harry can date other people. Dixon is starting to become annoying like Annie. PLUS I hate the fact that he did not believe his OWN sister in the beginning when she said she did not sleep with Liam. He didn’t even stick up for her at all. No way Brandon would have let that happened to Brenda.
agreed
i love 90210. season 3 is so much more interesting than season 1 or 2. i don’t like annie so it’s great that her story-line isn’t meddling with the others’. why won’t they show more of naomi and jamie’s relationship? i like them together and they look good too. another character who should get more screen time is ryan! he was so cute with jen last episode (although she is evil) and it’d be really great to see more of them. OHH i love the new guys in season 3, teddy and liam. Love that they’re all buddies and definitely jealous of ivy hanging out with them.
This is the second season of the show. Season three hasn’t happened yet.
And Liam was around last season too…so he’s not new
Did you get into your time machine and watch season 3 already!
Annie is being condemned not for sleeping with Liam but for calling the cops on the party, Only Naomi is holding the grudge that she thinks Annie slept with Liam.
As for her brother her whole attitude is putting him off not the fact that she slept with Liam. There is so much ore to why Annie is being shunned by everyone, let alone the fact that she is an awful actress (which is why the story took this turn I am sure)
I love Annie and the girl who plays her is good for a beginning actress but everyone has their own opinion. I hope the producer of this show solves the storylines were still dealing with from last season b4 the year is over that way the old happy go lucky Annie will be back.
Am I the ONLY ONE who remembers Jackie being sober until the end of the original 90210? Please writers stop pretending that she has been a mess all of Silvers life. Some of us are old enough to know better.
But Mel and Jackie broke up for good in the last season of the original show because of Gina and the strip club. So it’s easy to assume that’s when she started her downward spiral and Erin/Silver would’ve only been about 7 years old.
I thought she was like 10. She was sober for the big ol’ wedding. I want them to cut Jackie some slack. It’s annoying for them to make her such a mess.
Jackie wasn’t on the original 90210 that much. She was a drunk in the early years (remember Kelly and Brenda’s fashion show disaster?). Then, yes, she did sober up for a few years when she was married to Mel. But after their divorce, it’s understandable that she may have fallen off the wagon again. I think they should show Mel in an upcoming episode and he should answer why he was never a part of Silver’s life. And they’ve never mentioned the fact that Silver has a brother too – David (Brian Austin Green). Where’s he been in her life??
In S1 Kelly told Silver she was going to go stay with Mel while she took her son to see Dylan and Silver said she did not want to stay with him and his lastest child bride. Also when Donna was on she refered to Silver as her half sister in law. Spoilerfix says an offer has been made to Tori to come back this season but she hasn’t agreed and Jessica Stroup said she would love to have Brian Austin Green come on as David. I think the producers need to spend some time with the old dvd’s to keep consistant with what we have seen of Silver’s childhood. It was all good until 2000 at Donna and David’s wedding.
I was thinking the same thing while watching. She was clean and sober for years, I hate the writers took her that way
Blame Sachs and Judah
First, I have to mention how funny it was when Dixon, Teddy, and Ivy were confronting Liam on the beach with their wet suits on and Liam walks away and a second later, their wet suits were half way off, what, did they all decide to take them off super duper fast at the same time? haha, it was really funny to me. Anyways,
Jasper’s drawings were a little weird?? Is he thinking he wants her dead? He didn’t seem to want to hide them, so maybe Annie knows he draws her, he seems to be obsessed with her and I’m still not sure if I think it’s cute or just weird.
I was fist pumping when Liam-Teddy-Dixon-Ivy said they were gonna bring Jen down, YES!
I am so upset at the dyamics of Annie and Dixon’s relationship. I wish they could repair it already. I don’t like were they are taking Anne. How she is shunned out from everyone is not right. I don’t like how Adrianna relapsed again either. Love that finally Jen will be exposed! She is soooo evil!
I totally agree with you Mia. Dixon/Annie need to be best friends/brother and sister again!! One of the things I loved about last season…was their close bond. I want that back!
Oh, and I loved the episode again…as well as the recap! But I didn’t love this episode as much as the previous one.
LOVE the friendship of Liam/Livy/Teddy/Dixon/Navid -when they aren’t surfing so Navid is included lol. So glad those guys + girl are taking down Jen. Its about time. And I love it.
Also love the TeddyéSilver friendship. OMG I am really starting to love Teddy now. I like him so much better as the compassionate person instead of the boy who hooks up with girls all the time. So sad that Jackie died. I also love the original so its sad that an original character died. But great story arc for Silver.
Jasper and Annie -I love it. I know its weird, but that`s why I like it. It`s entertaining and exciting of not knowing whats going to happen there.
And the whole Debbie and Dixon fights are sad. I actually love Debbie and so happy that she has more screen time now. But I also agree with the re-cap…Dixon and Debbie deserve better writing for their characters because they are great actors and can do this storyline better justice.
xD late late late me.
anyway
I’m so so happy that Annie’s finally getting what she deserves with Jasper. Her whiny, poor-little-old-me attitude got tired halfway into the first episode. slightly off topic, but – anyone else happy to see that Shenae’s been eating? She’s still Hollywood’s stick-girl darling, but it was such a relief to see the ribs and the spine gone. Good for her.
asdfgh. I want a Navid. Seriously. He’s the best guy on the show, and surely I’m not the only one loving all the Navvie action? :]]
I really liked this week’s episode but I thought it was a little predictable. The whole Annie and Jasper thing was seen far ahead of time and the part about Silver’s mom not waking up; it was very sad and I’m so interested to see where it goes and how Teddy rushes in, but I saw it coming. Still, it was a good episode and I really miss Adriana and Navid being together. I really hate it that she’s using again.
As for Liam and his band of friends, I really liked it. Normally, it’s just Liam dealing with things on his own, but now he’s got friends to help him take down Jen…and I hope they do it good. I don’t like her at all!
I want them to keep Jasper!!! I know that he is a “Bad guy” but they could redeem him (I know that this is a long shot), I mean she killed someone (accident or not, she doesn’t get kudos for driving off) so they can redeem each other. I didn’t care for Annie at S1, but I kind of like her this season. I think the main thing is that I don’t like her with the rest of the gang, I think they are all good without her! BUT THEY NEED TO GET MY ADRIANA AND NAVID BACK TOGETHER!!!!
Yes, PLEASE can we get Adrianna and Navid back together? Pretty please with a cherry on top.
Jasper RULES! lol.
How come every character in this show has angst? Is no one happy on this show? Every story has such angst. They need a Tom/Lynette duo that has adversity, but also sticks together and genuinely loves each other.
And why, after being told that Sasha lied about the pregnancy, did Dixon say, There’s ONE woman I can’t trust …. meaning his mom? Why wouldn’t he say two women? Lazy writing.
I for one did not like last night.
It’s different if your own mother (and in this case, your adopted mom who raised you up more than your real mother) is the one who was keeping secrets. And she was supposed to be someone Dixon should look up to.
I enjoyed this episode. I do wish that they wouldnt have made Adriana fall off the wagon! I was likeing the “no drama – adriana”. As far as Liam, he is HOT! My fave on the show! I like him with Ivy, but I liked him with Naomi also, so itll be intersting to see where things go! Annie def looks better- i too thought she looked healthier! Still can not act though! She is depressing! Like Silver and Teddy together, cant wait for them to hook up and see the drama it creates with Adriana.
Annie was the best part of the show last season. I don’t know what happened but the writers need to fix her character b4 it is beyond repair. In the people who comment about her weight she still looks the same. She never looked sicked to begin with; she’s a short girl who happens to be skinny-get over it.
last season everyone hated whiny, annoying, and boring annie! she sucked! at least this season theres a a different story for her character, even if she still cant act lol. i really love Naomi why hasnt she been in the last two episodes? she was barely in them. Adrianna relasping is so BORING no one cares… do something else with her character already goodness! i personally do not like that ivy character. it seems like her and liam’s relationship was too forced and not natural. Liam and Naomi are the best couple and they need to get back together NOW! as for teddy he does look really old lol its kind of creepy that he plays someone in high school..
Annie is the best. Team Annie. I like Naomi but she aint got nothing on Annie. Naomi is a little slow and she has been the focus of pretty much every episode this season even when she isn’t featured in them much. Adrianna is the third best girl character and then there is Silver. The guys fall in this order of coolest to just cool: Navid, Liam, Ethan(LOL), Dixon, Teddy, and Mr. Matthews.
I like Annie and Jasper, but she has to redeemed and I think he put his uncle in the road and will show her “run him over” in his little movie. This story will not be resolved until the end of the season and most likely until S3. I would like to see Kelly get involved. She is the counselor, it could be done. Also when Jackie dies and if they show the funneral they need to have people from the original on who would attend; Donna, Mel, Nat, Donna’s mom, David, and it should be mentioned why none of Kelly’s friends come because it is unrealistic that they wouldn’t if they are still in LA. I know its a show but that stuff bugs me.
