I think it was more of a slam to the song then the hearing-impaired. And poke at family family, which itself at times is meant to be over offensive (in a rickles, carlan, lampanelli way).

i didnt think the show was particularly amusing. however, not having seen the people behind the family guy characters before was quite interesting. seeing the voice of stewie come out of Seth MacFarlane was very cool.

I hope they do another special. I laughed at almost every skit. It was super funny! I would give the special 8 out of 10!

I guess most people just take life way to seriously and can’t see the humour in it. MacFarlane et al are Gods… I’ve watched the show 4 times and still laugh!

The fact that deaf culture is being included with the all the other jokes about racism, sexism, politics, etc.,..signifies to me that it is being accepted as a part of the vast array of American cultures. I chuckled at the Moviefone episode, it wasn’t hilarious but I didn’t think it offensive. I can see how it might offend some people but I agree that they need to lighten up. Every day we deal with racism and stereotypes about black people, whites, mexican, etc.,…it’s about time deafies are included as well.

I, myself, have moderately severe hearing-loss. I was laughing so hard at this segment. People need to lighten up.

The people who don’t like this humor seem to be pretty calm and intelligent, expressing themselves well. Most of the people who thought this was hilarious are screaming in all caps, prefacing things with a condescending “Ummm…” and saying “it’s COMEDY!”

We know all of that. It’s just… really? Making fun of how a deaf person talks passes for comedy? I watch Family Guy, and the best jokes are the ones that are funny, and are not about beating your wife, rape or other wacky “un-PC” (ooh how edgy!) stuff. The first season is something they should strive for.

A well-crafted joke can be about anything. Just saying shocking things doesn’t constitute funny.

I have been an avid fan of Seth MacFarlane for years, but thought this schoolboy attempt at humor was in very poor taste, and felt like we were watching kiddies in a playground. The fact Marlee Matlin came on to add her bit to the spoof is neither here nor there, it was still not funny, and was very offensive to hearing umpaired people.

I though it was absolutely hilarious people need to lighten up

    I crapped myself laughing.
