It’s bad enough getting blindsided by your own tribe, but then Survivor: Samoa’s Erik Cardona suffered the ultimate indignity when he found himself the unwitting victim of an unreciprocated high five! The ousted contestant joins us as we relive every single nanosecond of the humiliating exchange—frame by excruciating frame. Erik also answers other Survivor mysteries like: Why was he always so angry at Foa Foa? Where’s his Hidden Immunity Idol? And why did he insist on taking a loaded pistol and shooting himself in the foot? Not only that, but one of your dear Survivor Talk hosts is leaving the proverbial island…forever! Just click on the video below and stay tuned to the very end for the shocking announcement. Josh Wolk will be greatly missed.
Naaa he was so full of himself it was enjoyable seeing him blindsided. He needs to look up the word HUMBLE.
I will definitely miss Josh’s insightful recaps of The Amazing Race.
Second.
Awww! I love Josh – I will miss him. I wonder who Dalton’s new sidekick is gonna be?
Oh man, that ending was the perfect farewell. Now come back and visit Josh! Even if we get Courtney Yates as a permanent replacement co-host (please?), it won’t be the same without Dalton picking on you every week.
Yeah, only you aren’t on that vulture place! Get to work.
Gah so sad when Erik got voted out…Sadder that Josh is leaving, added so much to the show.
no Josh!!! say it ain’t so!!! so sad
Good luck on the new job Josh..I am guessing it has nothing to do with singing.
Later annoying tall guy! Best of luck.
Discovering the Josh is leaving EW just broke my heart, who is going to cover Amazing Race in such a comedic, sarcastic way? I shed a tear for my Monday morning routine today.
What! I clicked here by accident and now Josh is leaving EW?!?!? What about the Amazing Race recaps on Monday mornings? The race is almost over – he can’t leave now
What?! I look forward to The Amazing Race article every week! It’s so funny! He can’t leave EW!
Josh you’ve given me many, many a laugh you will be missed! Dalton you better not go anywhere!
Josh — you’ll really be missed. For your funny antics, and also for your total HOTNESS!
yes!
Josh Wolk – I have never missed your Survivor Talk with Dalton, even when I watch them all the way from Singapore! The montage clip at the end brought me back to Micronesia, and all the funny antics you guys did. Will certainly miss you and your witty banter and writing. I love your Amazing Race recaps too! Always my weekly ritual to check it out after watching the show. Will miss you, and wish you all the best in your future endeavours! Stay funny and cool always
Awesome episode. I rate this one 100% EPIC! Great recap of the high five in slow-mo. You guys always come up with the best skits!
Josh, you will be dearly missed. No one can ever replace you on Survivor Talk, so now you must promise to make guest appearances often.
The ending to this episode was very emotional. I’m still reeling from the very recently announced news that you’re leaving EW. TAR recaps won’t be the same and nor will Survivor Talk.
I wish you the best at your new place, and have no doubt you will continue to support Dalton and Survivor Talk, and write awesome articles!
Oh, and feel free to make fun of Dalton too!
Will miss you Josh. Dalton, you are forbidden to EVER leave EW!
MONICA FTW! I HATE JOHN!
This ep of Survivor Talk sucked because of the word that Josh Wolk is leaving not just Survivor Talk but EW altogether. He’s probably my favorite writer on the site and in the mag. Good luck, Josh!
dalton, whoever you interview next week, then tell them to speak away from the phone. erik was shouting and i couldn’t understand a single thing he said
I think you need a hearing check because it was perfectly intelligible.
Josh I’ll miss you too! Best of luck with your new job.
Good Survivir Talk, as always. Too bad Erik got the boot, I liked him. And Josh, good luck on your new endeavors; whatever you write, I’ll read.
I would like to make an apology to EW.com, the website moderator, anyone who read my post & was offended, & Mr. Jeff Probst if he saw it.
Most people reading this post will have no idea what I’m talking about — & that is probably for the best. I wrote inappropriate comments that normally I would self-critique & edit — but I don’t know what was wrong with me that night. I like to get a little blue sometimes & this message board was the wrong place for that & I knew better. The moderator was right to pull my post & apparently he/she had to pull the 3 following hours which I assumed were reacting to what I wrote. My favorite thing that Mr. Probst does is when he asks insightful questions at the end of each season — & for this a new adjective should be coined after him — “probstian” meaning one who asks insightful, self-reflective questions of another on why they did something. Look forward to his probstian questions every reunion show.
If Mr. Probst read my post & was offended — please have him read this — am deeply ashamed. I think Survivor is possibly the most addictive of show on TV ever — & I think that Mr. Probst would have appreciated my insights without the blue humor. It is my fault — didn’t self critique. (If Miachevelli were alive & if Iago were real — they would apply to be on the show.)
I am a big fan of Survivor & the Entertainment World in general. I have been fascinated with TV credits since the age of four, have been to film school, have seen a 1/4 of the interviews of the Archive of American Television (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TVLEGENDS#grid/playlists — my top four favorites are Howard Smit, William Shatner, Stephen J. Cannell & Joseph M Willcots), & am planning to see as much TV around the world 9including every network show online as possible). Have studied the how the film, television, music, &, obviously, the adult film industry works. I take Television especially very seriously because I think it the most important & most literary medium — far more so than the film industry.
I apologize again to ew.com — when I was a teen in the early 90s — I compulsively read ew & copied myself to write film criticism in the vein of OG. When I graduated film-school I realized that I would never be hired by ew (poor grammar/high school = poor grammar = not even being considered being hired as a ew intern — have since corrected the problem) — & ended up in computer database management in which I work from home. I apologize once again to ew.com. I am sorry to see the affable Josh Wolk go — he was with the magazine for an extremely long time (since at least the early or mid-90s.
The first post after following all the deleted posts was by someone with the moniker ‘Les Moonves’– don’t know if this was the real Mr. Moonves — but if so I also apologize to him. I have always wanted to meet a TV executive & if this is how I did it — I am really embarrassed & deeply ashamed especially if it was a CBS executive. CBS is the Tiffany Network & has always been the Network of Class. They will handle the Letterman/48hrs scandal in the same vein they dealt with Jim Aubery & the tasteless glut of rural-coms that dominated the network in the 60s. (Bob Wood replaced them with shows like All In the Family, Mash, Carol Burnett just to name a few). If Mr. Moonves did see my post & was rightly horrified — please have him read this. If Mr. Moonves were to meet me in person — he would think I were a dead-ringer for Charles Cappleman — not the person he saw who wrote that post.
Anybody annoyed by my apology will just have to eat it because I have lost sleep over my post for the last two nights.
I also have neglected to apologize to Mr. Ross who may have posted before me.
Josh! Noooooooooo! What will my Monday mornings be like without your take on TAR??
Off to grieve now.
Awww man! Good luck Josh!
Erik totally deserved this. Dude was being a HUGE dick. Later.
that sucks – josh is one of my favourite writers. what does that mean for the remaining ‘amazing race’ recaps? good luck wolker
It feels like a great comedy team is breaking up. Martin and Lewis, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Rowan and Martin, Spade and Farley, and now Ross and Wolk. Josh, I wish you all the best, but it is bittersweet. You will be missed.
Great recap as always, but Dalton… DUDE. What is up with the long fingernails???
Love the old school rolodex on Dalton’s desk. Do you actually still use that thing?
