Thanks for bringing up the standing. It really bug me. Who would do that for hours?? I mean really, it looked so unnatural that it took my focus off the funny.

I’ve known many Cornhusker fans throughout my life, so I was really looking forward to this episode. I felt like they could have done SO MUCH MORE with it! It’s a universal fact that Nebraska fans are incredibly devoted to their beloved Big Red, but that certainly didn’t come out in this episode. In fact, now that I think about it, I’m kind of shocked that Nebraska football was only JUST NOW brought up. It took them three seasons to bring up the fact that Penny is a Husker fan? Not only that, my Nebraska friends wear Husker gear A LOT and this was the first time that Penny had on that attire. I love my Nebraska friends and I get a real kick out of watching Husker games with them. There was so much potential for this episode, but they just really missed the mark for me.

we have our clarification on the whole kite scene but you are right, they should have mention something like that so people would catch the drift, sometimes the writers put stuff that is not well known and that’s why sometimes is not found funny by people who don’t know that stuff.

I have been working w/my son (who has some Aspy qualities similar to Sheldon) on his science fair project. We picked something pretty non-techy (building a kite-testing how it flies w/ and w/o a kite tail) and lo and behold, I turn on the Big Bang Theory and see my favorite nerds flying kites. I just about fell out of my chair. It wasn’t the best episode of the series but it was pretty good. Just too funny the boys like to fly kites and my “Sheldon” is working on a kite too. As long as the writers stay open minded and keep bringing new ideas to the table, I think the show could surpass the Wil Wheaton episode.

and when Sheldon won Raj’s kite and said that if he gave it back because it would render moot what he did next “nanana i got your kite” while waving it in the front seat.

This was one of the funnier episodes i’ve seen actually.

I don’t know if it’s just me but this whole season has been a let-down for me. I loved the previous ones, but I just don’t find myself laughing as hard now.

I thought you nailed it in your review. Good, solid, uninspiring — but it was more like a formal exercise than a character explanation, which BBT is at its best — I’d say the same thing about this Sunday’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, my other favorite comedy.
