Fair Warning: I haven’t been feeling too well for the past few days, so tonight as I sat down to write this I took a Read the full post.

Did anyone see Brett’s look when Jeff was about to start the immunity challenge? He looked smooookin’ hot!

  • Survivor Freak

Ummmm, whose to say the producers won’t throw them together at the beginning of the next episode, only to split them into two new tribes again?? Certainly wouldn’t be the first time. Then again, Jeff, that first paragraph was a little confusing-did the drugs blur where the game is with where it’s headed?
I was shocked that they took Liz out of the game. Jaison was my initial pick to win till episode three when he really started to show how defeated he feels. He’s clearly not 100% in the game and if that tribe wants a win the way they say they do, everyone has to be totally in it. Liz wanted it. Jaison does not. No wonder they’re dying out.
Jeff, thanks for the behind the scenes films on CBS.com – the helicopter lesson was great! I have an insight question: are all the challenges scheduled all the way through before filming begins, or do you stay flexible to see where the game is going and plug in appropriate challenges? How do you determine which challenges will be played on which days?
Love the show, love the blog, love you – get better soon!!

    • Carol

They HAVE to be flexible and plug in appropriate challenges along the way, because the producers do not know at the beginning of the season how many people will be playing in each challenge. If one team loses continuously and gets down to four people, it has to be a challenge that can be played with only four players on each side. At the beginning of the season, the producers don’t know if the teams will stay evenly sized or if they will get lopsided by one team’s losing streak, as has happened in this season.

    • Ken

Well unless they were blue-screening the buffs to make them all one color (I’ve seen it done on Ultimate Fighter to hide jersey colors so as not to reveal team members) then they’re merging. It’s not like Thailand where they assumed they merged but got no new buffs to say so.

  • Dr Zechariah Zenith

Foa Foa’s morale is down and they just went into a spiral of defeats.

I guess burning the socks of your groupmates is not such a good idea. You already destroyed their morale before any challenge was made.

Kelly and Natalie are the two remaining HOT girls from this season. Monica is not far behind.

  • Michael

Jeff, you obviously were on drugs since you didn’t realize they showed the merge in the promos. Next, big mistake on Shambo’s part sending Laura over to Foa Foa. She allowed Russell and Laura to bond. That’s coming back to haunt the Dude Alliance. (I’m not sure if Shambo in 100% abroad. She might go with the chicks and Foa Foa and screw the dudes.)

    • Did You Climb In From Space

I’m hoping ER chews Laura up and spits her out. She bugs beeg time.

    • Jake

Jeff lay off the drugs, it’s ruining your life.

  • JeffProbstRocks

Just wanted to let you know you have a new fan perhaps the youngest yet. I was holding a 7 week old baby girl and we were watching Survivor and everytime you came on the TV she smiled. Coincidence, maybe but we sure got a kick out of it. I will have to play it back tonight and see what happenes. How you feel better. Go Shambo!!

  • JeffProbstRocks

    “Hope” you feel better :)

  • Dana

I would have voted Jaison before Liz. Liz worked much harder at challenges then he does. I hope that Shambo is smarter then everyone is giving her credit for, I can’t help but like the woman. I could care less about any of the other women there they are the same season after season, hot bodied and BORING. I know the producers do it because it makes for good eye candy for the male viewers and lesbians out there but I would much rather watch regular looking people who are intelligent and dynamic and make the game more interesting. Still hoping to see Dave make it to the end.

    • D

what about survivor: amazon with jenna and heidi…two of the more attractive women that have played survivor and did very well.

      • KC

Heidi certainly thought that Heidi was attractive – kept saying over and over how she was one of the “cute girls”. Barf.

      • Tom

Matter of opinion…maybe people look at you and say “barf”

      • Dan

I thought Heidi was ugly. SHE thought she was pretty but I didn’t see that. Shawna was the hottest there by far. Jenna was full of herself and is now doing anything for job. Won’t be surprise if we see her in porn next.

      • Tom

yeah i didn’t think Heidi was all that hot, but it seemed like a lot of people did.

      • Dana

I did not watch that season so can’t comment on either of them

      • johnmichaels

I did not think Heidi was attractive. Big fake boobs do not make you attractive.

    • Lucy

Dana, you stated it all perfectly about the women the producers select to “compete” but actually just to attract male viewers and lesbians.
It seems this season they continue to pursue a new demographic–the Marginal Creep.
ENOUGH of the sickening men! First Coach, now Evil Russell. They make me recoil. (Evil Russell’s camera time is short and sharp, like a sucker punch, whereas I could channel-surf whenever Coach of the Everlasting Monologue was vomited into our faces.)
Just ONCE could the producers dare to have a season with interesting men AND women whom the editing allows to be seen as interesting?
And forget the scanty beachwear. It turned my stomach when the producers gave a “gift” to the tribes–gee, swimsuits . . .
no Speedos, but mandatory bikinis for the women! (I’m guessing some of the women hadn’t brought suits revealing enough for Burnett & Co.)
I would never allow scum like Coach and Evil Russell into my home; perhaps I wouldn’t want to let Burnett et al in here either.

      • CrawfordSF

        Yeah, bring on the Speedos!

    • John

And no matter what you think about their gameplay, Amanda and Pavarti, the last two standing on Fans vs. Favorites, were certainly attractive women.

      • puppy dog

I think Amanda was the homeliest woman I’ve ever seen. And Johnmichaels, if you think those boobs were big, you have a perspective problem. The only thing big on that girl was her ego.

    • dohrayme

Since when, when oh when, on any season of Survivor, has working hard at camp ever been more important than the social game and manipulation? Almost never, that’s when.

  • sandy lewis

I hope Shambo somehow turns it around and wins this thing…it is the only way this season would be great.

    • Ryan

I’m tired of what-ifs. This reality show is over. This could very well be the last season. I know I’m done with it.

  • lori

i am very bored this season…something needs to happen or i am turning the channel soon

    • Sue

I agree. Usually my mouth hangs open in surprise and this has not been happening. I watch it while facebooking :) – in the past I did not want to miss a WORD!

    • Carys

I agree. We need some contestants who are witty, humorous, fun to listen to. There have been some in the past who were just great to listen to when they were taken aside to talk privately. Now the most entertaining is ER. :(

      • Harry

Personally I don’t think that evil jack@ss is entertaining, I prefer Eric from Galu. Alot more entertaining then the troll.

      • Carys

Harry, I agree with you. To say he is the most entertaining is meant an indictment of the overall entertainment of these contestants.

  • Mary

    feel better soon Jeff!

    • heidi

Look into the Neti Pot! It will help your sinus pressure, congestion and pain.
Anyone on here ever use one? I just did this allergy season and its probably my favorite find of the year! I described it in more detail, below.

      • puppy dog

        They are wonderful.

  • TV Guru

Best words uttered on television: “Wanna know what you’re playing for?”

    • Radar

Yes, TV I always invision them saying “Naaah” and walking away. That would liven up this snooze fest.

  • DJango

Thanks, Jeff, as always your insights are appreciated. I can’t believe how much Russel has grown on me (still can’t call him “likeable”, exactly) but the man Plays The Game and plays it hard. Still a little mouthy and condescending behind the backs tho… yes, it was stupid of him to weaken his own tribe. Been some great eps lately!

  • Jennifer

Loved the insights into the show! I didn’t realize that pushing the boat might have hosed the intention of the challenge. I really do love all the “insider” info – thanks for blogging, even under the weather!! Feel better, dimples!

  • Jeanne

Hey Jeff, sorry to hear your feeling under the weather. Hope you’re better soon. They definitely should have gotten rid of Jaison over Liz, but Russell doesn’t have a problem with Jaison and he is definitely in control of that tribe! Last nights episode was pretty boring–most of these people in general are pretty boring. Oh well, you can’t win them all. Thanks for your insight Jeff, it’s always interesting.

  • Steve

Jeff: Thanks for the information on the fishing challenge…it was still entertaining…hopefully we will see it again as it was designed.
-This episode, to me, unveiled the possibility that Russell may actually be shrewd (he is still demented) and I finally see your fascination with him as indicated in your early blogs. We have definitely seen that he plays the game and is willing to lie and manipulate…..but for the first time, I saw just a little more depth and smarts to his game play. His interaction with Laura was pretty well played (don’t know if she trusts ). I still say that Russell has made it this far primarily because this season has the highest ratio of dimwits ever.
-Not a dimwit, but a quitter is Jaison. His team had a tough decision on him vs Liz. His comments at tribal sounded more or less like a request to send him packing. He is worn out and broken down. The team trusts him over Liz.
-Final comment. Kelly’s comments on Shambo after she became leader were ironic, as they were similar in nature to Ben’s comments on Yasmin. Ben’s comments were directed at someone of a different race and carry a long history of pain, but Kelly’s comments were insensitive as well. This goes back to my point about the high number of dimwits on the cast…..we have seen, so far, limited discussion of strategy among players and more talk based on emotion. Maybe we will see more evidence of who is playing the game after the merge.

    • puppy dog

Steve, speaking of dimwits. Kelly said Shannon was driving a Jag wire. I doubt that. A Jaguar maybe, but nobody makes a Jag wire.

      • Jeanne

ha, ha, I was thinking the same thing. That’s such a pet peeve of mine when people pronounce it that way.

    • Anna

I just thought it was so ironic for Kelly to be musing about Shannon marrying her way out of the trailer park. Here we have a girl who more likely than not earned her way onto Survivor by brushing her boobs up against some producer’s sideburns while evening out his combover casting aspersions over onto Shannon. Touche. You know? By the end of next season no one will remember Kelly ever existed, she’ll just be another one in a long assembly line of golden tanned blondes with pert breasts. For as long as Survivor exists everyone will remember the name of Shambo. Touche.
