Emma's 'Glee' wedding dress: We found it!

As the big day approaches, Emma (Jayma Mays) was on the hunt for the perfect wedding gown and on last week’s Glee, and she found a stunning silk number while at the bridal boutique with Will (Matthew Morrison).

Emma wore J. Crew’s silk gazar nanami gown (jcrew.com; $2,995), and can you say perfect? The high neck in the front, the V-neck in the back, the gloves, the headband – absolutely amazing!

What did you guys think of the gown? Did any of you prefer the poofy, shoulder-padded look she sported for her dance lesson with Will instead?

    I love Emma…Down with Terri!

    • Right on

Cannot even stand the sight of Terri. Anyone see “That 70s Show?” Pretty sure Will’s crazy wife also played the crazy gf of Fez. She has those insane eyes that fits with those kind of roles.

And what a beautiful dress! Such a classic look. Love Emma, love her OCD, and love the way she talks … is it some kind of accent?

  • Holly

I thought the gown was lovely and very my fair lady. It was appropriate for the song.

    • Melinda65

I loved the second dress–the first one was too dated, IMO. My son thought that it was more reminiscent of Breakfast at Tiffany’s than My Fair Lady, though.

      • k*

the first one was supposed to be dated – it was a replica of Princess Di’s gown.

      • Matt

Yes, I agree with your son (being a big Audrey Hepburn fan) Emma’s second dress is much more “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” circa 1961. BTW, both Fantastic films! “My Fair Lady” is my all time favorite musical (and that’s a tough genre to rank : )

  • Patty

This dress was beautiful. The back was awesome.

    • michelekamay

I want to get married too! Emma is so lovely!

  • alex

the dress looked great on Emma, but is so horribly photgraphed and modeled on the jcrew site that i wouldn’t have noticed it was the same dress.

    • E.A.Y.

i completely agree — i’d never have realized they were the same. it’s not very well-fitted on the j. crew model.

    • warped

So agree. Did they even bother to do anything with the model’s hair and makeup? It’s like they pulled someone off the street, didn’t bother to see if she was even the right size, said here throw this on, snapped a picture and then moved onto the next outfit.

    • melissa

The dress on the website looks like it wasn’t even steamed or pressed before the photographed it. Come on Jcrew, you’re better than that!

    • KWise

I’m so glad there are comments here about how horrible the dress looks on the JCrew site!! The dress is just hanging off the model…it looks awful! What a disservice!

  • Sara

She looked beautiful, but it’s a little weird she was ready to spend thousands of dollars on a dress for a wedding she doesn’t actually want. Unless it was all part of her plan to seduce Will by looking hot.

    • Maddi

Remember when they posted the yellow dresses from Halo/Walking On Sunshine? Those were for a one time gig, and they were all around $100 dollars in the meatspace! I just pretend designer clothes cost what a high-school counselor in Ohio can afford in TV Land.

    • Flyer

Keep in mind, though, that the dress is almost $3K in the REAL world, not the Glee universe. Once they turn the $3K dress into a costume, it can become any price it needs to be for the sake of the show.

      • Jennie

To be fair, the boutique they were in looked REALLY pricey. But school counselors aren’t exactly poor, either (although I can’t testify as to what they’d make in Lima, Ohio, either). Still, that boutique was…well, it wasn’t David’s Bridal, now was it? Gorgeous dress.

  • Sue

That was the perfect dress for her. Gorgeous!

  • Diana

I thought the gown was lovely and appropriate, although I was a little disturbed at how thin her arms were above those gloves. A wonderful dance number, and the look on Will’s (Matthew Morrison) face when he sees her is fantastic.

    • heidi

I was going to say that – and you can REALLY tell how thin she is when you see a MODEL on JCrew wearing it and having it look completely different… even the small curves a model has look heavy as compared to her. She’s too thin. Love her, hope its just a natural thinness but I’m worried it isn’t because when she was on Heroes she was curvier.

  • Sharon

Love the dress – honestly, I think the fact that the model isn’t wearing the above-elbow-length gloves is what makes it seem like a different dress – I mean, the photography isn’t great, but the gloves really just add that final, perfect touch that makes the dress.

  • Karena

Hate to diss the dress, but I think all of the J Crew dresses look cheap wrinkled bed sheets haphazardly fashioned into a dress that has as much elegance as a slug.

    • chichi

I couldn’t agree more. The bodice is so tight it looks as if she is wearing a sheet of aluminum foil.

And on a side note: Will looks as if he totally let out a silent one.

      • Juniper

Hahaha!!! I scrolled back up and yes, he does. Thank you for that!

  • Stefani

Ooo! I loved the J Crew dress! 100% Emma.

  • Karena

The classies bridal gown in recent years is from of all people- Donald Trump’s daughter. Fashioned after Princess Grace’s dress, she looked like the classy young lady she has grown up to be- such a contrast to that explosion of a dress her Dad’s bride wore- a 6o pound behemoth that cost 2 million dollars- How could anyone wear a dress for a few hours that could feed all the starving children in a small nation. That said everything about the woman in one day.

  • Psac

She looked amazing. The jcrew model — awful.

  • maria66

i also loved her hair and the ribbons they put in.

  • Dani

Emma/Jayma is a total stunner in this gown!

  • Megan

It’s gorgeous from the front, but AWFUL in the back! I hate the weird triangular flap! It’s kind of jarring and seems completely out of place with the rest of the gown.

  • GregB

She channeled her inner Audrey Hepburn. She was gorgeous.

  • Jess

I grabbed my boyfriend and yelled, “AH! I love her dress!” It looks completely different on the J Crew website. I actually was not loving the long gloves. I would have gone with cute short ones.

  • econruth

Completely appropriate that germ-phobe Emma would be wearing elbow length gloves! Saves her from having to wash her hands after every shake at the reception line.
    She looked beautiful!

  • SharB

I loved the dress, simple & elegant. Yes, Karena, I loved Iyanka’s dress also.

  • jk

I love the dress, but Jayma Mays is so incredibly creepy-looking. She is so thin it’s disturbing. She’s not Hollywood-actress thin, she just looks as though she’s in the throes of anorexia. You can see it in how drawn her face is, and how thin her hair is. Scary.

    • Juniper

Her hair always looks nice to me… Is she wearing a wig or something?

  • Sarah

I am always amazed about the real price of the characters clothes. But I thought the same thing as some of the posters. Even the show gave the indication that Emma was going to a nice shop for her dress. Not David’s bridal. I don’t understand why she would do all that for a wedding that she doesn’t even want to tell anyone about. Love the show anyway, especially Mercedes !

    • teris

I’m guessing she’s putting in all this effort because she’s hoping Will will stop her. However, she thinks that he needs to see her all dolled up in a gorgeous wedding gown to in order to fall in love with her when, in fact, we already know they love each other!

  • Alex

My mouth just fell to the floor when she walked out, the most perfect and beautiful wedding dress ive ever seen!

  • big

    Will + Emma = <3 ♥ ♥ i love that dress in the picture

  • Heather

Wasn’t a fan of the dress but it was perfect for the dance and LOVE LOVE LOVE the hair and gloves. Will/Emma 4 ever.

  • Dory

Emma looked just like Audrey Hepburn in that dress.

    • teris

I concur! That’s EXACTLY what I thought when I saw her in it.

  • 4

    Tiffany’s + My Fair Lady. :)

  • starr

i recognized the dress right away b/c i’d been on the j-crew site 2 weeks before. it does looks horrible on the model, but the back was a dead give-away :)

  • Atlanta Bridal Shop-Bel Fiore

What a great show & beautiful dress!! Love it!!

  • mom7801

OMG. I recognized the Princess Di gown right away. Very funny, but she was buried in all those ruffles and bows. The second one made her look amazing.

  • teris

Ever since the second episode, I decided that I could not side with my fellow Teri. Emma is Will’s one-and-only and vice versa; they need to be together. Her dress was absolutely stunning and definitely her. Now… if only they could get her to jump in and sing a little bit for often!!
