Réalité: Sibling rage on 'Top Chef,' snot snuffling on 'Top Model,' weak fashions on 'Runway,' and granny panties on 'DWTS'

On this week’s four-part Réalité, my cohost Kristen Baldwin and I discuss some of the most important debates facing our nation right this second. Who’d be the ultimate Top Chef final two: adorable Kevin and loveable Jennifer or Michael and Brian, brothers so competitive they might try to smother each other with Glad wrap? What’s a bigger hindrance toward still being in the running to become America’s Next Top Model: Having dyslexia or being a Kardashian? What’s a bigger offense on Project Runway: Creating hideous fashion or creating no fashion at all? And what was the most disturbing development last week on Dancing With the Stars: Natalie Coughlin’s granny panties, Michael Irvin’s butt-cheek shenanigans, or Louis van Amstel’s facial expressions? Press play below to get our take — parts 2, 3, and 4 stream immediately after part 1 concludes — then weigh in with your own thoughts in the comments section below. And fret not, So You Think You Can Dance fans! Later today, we’ll have a special edition of Réalité devoted entirely to Fox’s fabulous firkin* of fancy footwork. * I can’t lie, I used Google thesaurus to maintain the alliteration on the aforementioned phrase.

I LOVE watching you two! Seriously, I just made myself late to work to watch you guys. You make my Mondays. Just one thing – there is no “Final 2″ in Top Chef – it comes down to three. Though I agree, I want Kevin and Jen in that Final Three.

    • Ama

They may do a final 4 this season because i don’t know how they will chose between the brothers, kevin and jen.

    • BruceMpls

Tom Colichio (sp?) on his blog for the show has given the impression that the final four may not be who most everyone is predicting (Bro’s, Kev and Jen), so who knows what’s going to happen? All it takes is one mistake at this point, just like Jen almost did.

  • Adam

Really love that you’re doing top chef, it’s a great show much better than some of the others.

You should know that the final has been a top 3 since season 3.
My prediction is: Jen, Kevin and the younger bro will make it.

I LOVE U2 Together so much, You should always host shows together!

  • dmblb

Again, thanks for a great Monday morning pick-me-up. I’m hoping for a Jen/Kevin final two as well. The brothers have never done much for me. It’s just such a shame we can’t taste the food.

Re: Top Chef. One season they had a final four because the contestants were “that strong.” Might that happen again this year?

  • SharB

Michael & Kristen, this is my first time watching Top Chef and I’m enjoying it tremendously, along with your Realite’ videos. I’m hoping it’s the bros + Jen in the final; although Kevin is good, I wonder if he can cook anything other than pork.

  • SDTim

Ah, I love Baldwin/Slezak! You can talk about dust bunnies and I’d watch it! Keep up the great work :-)

  • Kerri

More Slezak/Baldwin please! Love you guys!

  • Vanessa

haha, i like most of your comments on the shows, i agree with most of them… but quite frankly i don’t see why ANYONE would have a problem with Derek Hough OR any of the male pros flashing their abs. EVER.
and yes, michael irving and his … coin were funny at first, but then it was too much information.

  • ErinF

I love you guys!!!! I have been so sad since American Idol ended that you two haven’t been on camera together, and now the magic is back! Keep it up. Talk about anything – we don’t care!

  • sandman

Slezak and Baldwin make mondays so much less tragique!!! Thank you Realite!

  • Brandon

do videos 2-4 not work for anyone else?

  • sara

I love Realite! Though you guys really need to start covering Amazing Race. Seriously, last night’s Waterslide fright-fest was hilarious! It really deserves some Realite treatment.

  • tnsmoke

I love the brothers but think only one will be in the top 3 along with Jennifer and Kevin. But, we have to see if Jennifer can bounce back from her defeat like Michael V did the week before. Jennifer might not be able to let things go enough to get all her confidence back, but hope she does.

  • dfeeel

    Jennifer ftw!
    Kevin ftw
    Baldwin-slezak ftw!

  • jeannie benigno

Lovable Jen?? Are you joking?? She has the ugliest expression of any contestants on Top Chef!!!

    • Wes

Idk, I love her, ugly expressions & all.

The thing I’ve noticed about people’s opinions on Jen, they would either love her or hate her. There’s rarely a middle ground.

  • Ugly Jenny

I love Realite! It’s filling the post-Idolatry void. And with that said, Michael and Kristen are the best together! They remind of me and my gay friend Will who spent hours at work talking about crazy reality TV. But I have one beef, what makes Aaron Carter so unlikeable? He’s a pretty good dancer maybe a little too enthusiastic, but his heart is in the right place and did a lot better this week.

  • Shana

hmm this show makes my Mondays a whole lot better. I want Nicole to win top model…. but since when has the nice girl ever won? won’t hold my breath for that….

  • Colleen

I count down the days until Realite every week! LOVE IT!

Great video, but where’s the outrage at Christopher’s inexplicable survival after his fourth consecutive appearance in the bottom?

There’s no sense it this show anymore — Straub and his unfortunate facial hair aren’t even compelling characters — and, I don’t say this lightly, it seems that Project Runway has finally jumped the shark.

Baldwin/Slezak and Realite FTW!! I’m still shocked that Michael has never watched Top Chef before. The brothers Voltaggio is a reality show producer’s dream.

  • Wes

Yes, Top Chef is AMAH-Zing this season. LOVEABLE Jennifer? I’ve never seen anyone use that adjective for her before, but I totally AGREE. I love her, she’s so awesome.

The thing about Jennifer is that she could be SO serious & professional one moment, playful & affectionate the next. No one is harder on themselves than her, and no one has shown so much emotions for other contestants leaving the show than Jen. I’m definitely rooting for her hardcore, and I’m glad you, Mr. Slezak, does too.

    Oh and, Baldwin-Slezak FTW :)

    • Wes

Just a few addition. ‘A Jennifer FTW Production’ & ‘Shut it, random lady’ totally cracked me up. Hilarious! Great editing job :)

  • kahuna

Loved this episode. You two just have crazy chemistry together. You particularly you cracked me up discussing DWTS. Poor Joanna. I’m beginning to root for her. She cannot help her face, she was born that way. So, try to ease up on her.

  • Joseph

I’d love to see the Voltaggio Brothers and Kevin on the Top 3 for Top Chef.

  • william

stop with the ‘inexplicably,’ slezak. love ya!

  • kat hayes

Oh! Slezak and Baldwin are my favorite OTP of all time. Though Kristen and I are about to have our first reality TV fight. Not watch SYTYCD? That’s unpossible. (I bet Kristen with glasses loves it) And I feel you, Michael Slezak, on the Kathryn love. I don’t know what it is, but I find myself charmed by that little high talker. And her hip hop with Legacy was one of the highlights of the first performance show, and who’da thunk that? Seeing Billy Bell again all happy and mono free made me sad, but with any luck, he’ll be back S7 with Brandon Dumlao in tow. Finally, Mr. Slezak, please take the advice of some of your other fine commenters and add The Amazing Race to your rotation. This season is the bomb diggity. Globetrotters + Christians trying to throw each other off the top of a Dubai water slide = Reality TV gold. It’s better than anything Tyra and the Lilliputians have going. Trust.
