Mediocre. He’s going to struggle to sell his album. It’s not that he’s “so low-key,” it’s that his music is uninspired and dull, even by Idol standards.
The Script song is the best one. And what’s up with Kris and The Script, anyway? Was he contractually obligated to record all their leftovers or something?
I beg to differ on that opinion. I think his music speaks volumes, and is in no way or shape dull or uninspired. My thought is the complete opposite. His music is catchy, fun, and beautiful. They have meaning, and most of them were co-written by him. The guy is talented, and will take everyone by surprise. It’s just a matter of time….
Written All Over My Face is not a left over. He went to England to work with the writers who wrote Live Like We’re Dying. It’s not a demo song or anything.
Kris said that his m.o for working on this album was to approach people he admired and listened to in the music industry. Joe King of The Fray, Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, Mat Kearney, and of course, The Script. If I were a musician I would love to collaborate with people I listen to. And Asia, actually, “Written All Over My Face” is not penned by Kris, it is written by The Script, but they never recorded it on any B-sides like LLWD was. So basically, it is an original song written FOR Kris by The Script. Kris went to England to work with Eg White.
I laugh at some of these remarks.
You know what music was uninspired and dull? NO offense, but Mr. Archie’s last year was horrible, and Cook’s was dull all get out (despite a few good songs).
And Jordin Sparks’s songs are stupid, as far as I think… and I think other Idols (Kelly, Carrie) have done well. I’m not sure if these are mad Adam fans or what, but Kris’s new music is sparking with energy and excitement. These songs are fun… I don’t care how “low-key” he is, he brought it to that stage at the Dophins Miami tailgate party, and he performed well.
I’m not sure why AT ALL people like Jordin Sparks, Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber are doing so well on the charts with stupid, lackluster music but Kris’s is actually original and fun.
I think these are great.
Rachel, it is not fair to generalize and say that everyone who posts a negative comment about Kris is a Glambert or an Adam Lambert fan looking for an excuse to stir things up. I think there are honest Kris fans who really are disappointed with his new music – there will always be people you can’t please as a musician, fan or not.
I have to agree with you on the radio part, though. Some stuff I have heard on the radio is insipid, particularly that new Britney song (1,2,3 or whatever) or that poorly-titled single “Evacuate the Dance Floor”. Anyhoo, like I said, there will be people you can’t please, no matter who you are as an artist.
What surprised me most is that there have been no fan wars here, at least so far. What’s wrong with you Idol fans?
Hahaha I’m a little bit surprised too. But don’t jinx it, else we’ll have an outpouring of angry Glamberts in here! For now I am enjoying the peace.
Because it’s almost always the Kris/other fans that attack Adam – I wonder why. Adam fans no matter how deluded they are rarely diss Kris unless his fans diss Adam. My guess is they’re not too threatened by Kris’s future potential.
That’s cuz they both rock all kinds of awesome… for me at least.
I prefer Kris’ music during the day, Adam’s at night. Both provide too much sugary goodness to chose from at once.

I would disagree with that, hmm. I think that on both sides of the fanbases (Kris and Adam) the dissing is usually uncalled for. For instance, take what you see right now. Kris fans go on a Kris-related article to voice their appreciation, and just like clockwork, a few Glamberts will come in and disrupt the conversation. Similarly, on Adam’s Youtube channels, some Kris fans will raise some particularly nasty things about Adam. So there is fault on both sides of the fence. However, just because one is a Kris fan doesn’t necessarily mean one is against Adam and vice versa.
Actually I am a Danny Gokey fan and I happen to read EW news and found this article. I thought to myself “new music”, well must be worth listening too. Well it wasn’t. I am sorry. I thought I would like it, but well, um, no. I will not put him down, just don’t care for the music. AND NO I AM NOT WHAT YOU CALL A GLAMBERT, HECK I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT IS.

I have been listening to Before We Come Undone 30X since this morning. I like this song very much and I just hope it makes out as second single. Kris, thank you so much for giving us good songs, the real Kris Allen we’ve known since AI8. Bravo!

These all sound great, imagine when the actual CD comes out! This album is going to be a-mah-zing! Come here November 17th, I got a present for you. I am so impressed with the quality of these songs. He has accomplished so much in such a short time. What an inspiration, people…let’s get out their and “Live Like We’re Dying”. Thank you Kris Allen for inspiring me! And the band is fantastic…great job guys!

The glamberts are pissy because they were hoping Kris’ music would suck. Turns out, it doesn’t. In fact, he’s written and performed some legitimate pop hits and this scares them. The songs rock, his band is tight, and Kris performed like a seasoned pro. I guess I would feel threatened too if I vested my entire existence in just one idol contestant. Too bad they don’t realize there’s room for more than one idol pop star. Rock on Kris. You’re gonna be a star.

I guess you missed stuff like his Single has been #1 for the past five days in a row on Singapore’s popluar radio station 91.3 Hot 30 Countdown,or the fact that his Single is also No. 1 in the Philippines’ most popular radio station as of last weekend! Oh and let’s not forget his Single was #9 two days ago on New Zealand’s top chart on iTunes. Should I go on?
It’s only been out for a few weeks, and it’s doing just great INTERNATIONALLY. It’s going to be a hit whether you like it or not. Once all the stations have it, and Kris begins doing more appearances, it’s going to ROCKET!
Celeste – No Boundaries, despite being a total piece of crap, hit #1 on iTunes and #11 on Billboard Top 100. LLWD has also made the Billboard Top 100 and is steadily moving up the charts for radio play in both the Hot AC and Pop categories (it is in Top 35 on HAC and Top 50 in pop).
While that isn’t spectacular, neither is it awful.

Seriously, I think there’s a clear difference between a fanbase and an artist. You can think really highly of an artist, and really dislike the actions of that artist’s fanbase.

It’s very true but the word is not pissed, it’s shocked. Tey will try and say bad things about the song , but can we avoid responding to their negative comments? Lets just enjoy what our talented American Idol has been able to achieve .

He has a great personality! I think that it’s easy for people to dismiss him because he’s so low-key and he doesn’t really care if he’s going to be talked about or gossiped out, but he has a fun sense of humor and he’s really witty too. I would know, I stalk him on Twitter and watch every single interview. Seriously, it’s kind of a sick obsession hahaha
