I know the Walker clan is close, but I am glad they didn’t take up Luc’s suggestion to go skinnydipping together. “I love how really, really French you are,” Sarah said to her Renaissance man. Kevin was the voice of reason: “And sadly, we are really, really American.” Cue Justin: “And related.”
Luc was the main attraction of tonight’s show, “Last Tango in Pasadena,” as he and Sarah finally got out of bed. Sarah shocked Nora by moving Luc into her mom’s house so Sarah could spend some quality time with her kids, just back from Europe with their dad. (Gosh, Paige is growing up fast. Like her mom, I was digging the new haircut.)
Kitty was instantly charmed by Luc — who said despite her illness that she looked “radiant, like the sun,” inspiring a huge smile. At least Kitty was generous sharing the love for Luc, she texted everyone to invite them poolside to watch this “Adonis” swim laps. Perfect abs, perfect trunks and even perfect strokes. He cooked a huge meal and helped Justin pick up a few moves for his wedding dance. (How much did you love Kevin’s shock at discovering that pair in a dip — “I lost feeling in my extremities,” he said, deadpan.)
Luc danced the tango with Rebecca — we know Gilles Marini is a Dancing With the Stars alum (check out his tango on that show here) but the surprise was how well Emily VanCamp held her own. Somehow, Luc charmed and flirted with everyone but also managed not to seem too creepy or fake, and definitely smitten with Sarah. Nora, however, was still resistent to his charms. “He’s handsome in an obvious sort of way, but that’s no reason to act like a bunch of teenagers,” she admonished everyone else.
Poor Nora was having a rough time with Sarah (initially mad at her for telling Sarah’s kids about Kitty’s disease) and sick with worry about Kitty. She certainly didn’t need a new houseguest — who she nicknamed Pepe Le Pew. Or did she? Mr. Perfect found Nora near her breaking point by the pool and cheered her up with a waltz. Sometimes with all her family tensions, it’s nice to see someone unrelated giving Nora a boost. And Luc was soon calling her “Nor.” Awww.
In the hands of lesser actors and writers, this whole Luc storyline could have felt completely cliched, but with the B&S gang it felt like a bit of welcome fun. (Although, like Justin said, it bordered on objectification — lingering close-up shots of Luc’s abs weren’t an accident. Not that I’m protesting too much.)
Meanwhile, Scotty and Kevin were getting in a tussle about surrogate plans. Their friend Michelle volunteered to be their surrogate, which Scotty thought was a great plan, but Kevin worried she was a “little flaky.” It brought up simmering tension about who was in charge of their relationship — perfectly coming to a head when Luc asked them who would lead in their tango. Eventually they worked it out and decided Michelle’s surrogacy was a great idea.
Holly was getting Rebecca amped up for her Hawaii dream wedding, but there may be big waves ahead for that event (now can we have a dream wedding at Nora’s please?!). Holly found out that she had lost all of her money, yes ALL, because of a dodgy investment company. You had to feel sorry for the woman, especially with Ojai still in a financial mess after Tommy’s mistakes.
Kitty was in strong spirits, especially at the prospect of a night out with Robert at a Reagan Library event (loved the sequined grey sweater dress she wore). Only he had a rooftop dinner for two surprise planned instead. How romantic! Except for Kitty it was all a reminder about her illness. And she gave Robert a speech about how she just wants to be treated normally. He understood, and thanks to some genius timing, his fireworks then lit up the sky. I loved it when those fireworks lit up Kitty’s face as the couple shared a laugh together and headed home for a more normal activity, to watch Evan sleep.
Everything wrapped up with apologies between Nora and Sarah, Kitty reassuring her niece and nephew, and the whole gang piling into Kitty’s bed for brunch. (Where was Luc, practicing his foxtrot somewhere?) Everyone seemed happy — until we got the teaser that Tommy is back with his boatload of drama next week.
What did you think of this episode? Did you love Luc or were you calling him Pepe Le Pew too? Think he and Sarah could have a long-term future? Excited or dreading Tommy’s return?

Wendy: Emily VanCamp is a trained ballet dancer who has been dancing since she was a little girl.. I wasn’t surprised by her moves though she’s very good. Also whatever Holly got she deserved it!! i cant stand her!!!!!!!!!!! All in all great ep!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe it was Justin who mentioned the objectification, not Scotty.
And Justin who said “and we’re related…” this recap has factual errors… editors, do your job.
You should see the basic grammar and spelling errors in the other recaps! Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives – it’s like the editors had the day off today.
either the recapper fixed the errors – or you people can’t read – the paragraph reads “cue Justin – and related”
I did not feel sorry for Holly at all – she got what she deserved!! Loved that this week’s show brought the humor back & loved the fireworks. I am actually looking forward to Tommy coming back – he is a Walker and all the Walkers together is always good. They never should have kicked him off anyway.
I’ve been looking forward to Holly getting her comeuppance… but this felt abrupt and forced. I liked it much better when Walker siblings were conspiring against her and it was building to a climax.
was he kicked off the show? i am kind of confused about that could someone help me out?
i felt they gave away too much in next week’s commercial i wish tommy had been a surprise- and the whole fireworks thing was way to cheesy
Its sad, even the better episodes of this show don’t do justice to its talent. Whenever I watch, I can’t help but think about how good all the cast members were in OTHER things.
I hope Luc’s initial exposure to the Walkers is the only fawning we’ll have to endure. It was cute for about 5 minutes, but then it got to be overkill, even with some clever one-liners from the family.
I enjoyed the episode and not that pumped for Tommy’s return next week, but I’ll manage.
I hope Gilles becomes a regular! I loved that the producers clearly love him as much as I do. Fantastique! As for Holly, maybe losing all of her money might make her leave for something else and we can get rid of this horrible character once and for all.
I completely agree.
I 100% agree! I would watch this show in passing, but when I found out Giles was going to be on it, my daughter and I watched every minute.
I hate to admit that every time they did a close up of him getting out of the pool, I was reminded of that split second shower scene in Sex and the City the Movie. All I can say is Giles is GIFTED…in more ways than one!
I totally agree!!! I had just finished watching Sex & the City (again) and seeing Gilles on this episode just made my night! Hope he stays around for a long time.
please more Gilles! Where can I write to get him to stay on
fingers crossed
This is my favorite episode this season!! Here’s hoping that this is Holly’s exit from the show now that Rebecca is becoming an official Walker! More Luc, please – Sarah needs a happy romance!
I love that there is spice in Sara’s life and who but Gilles can fill her lonely life. I hope his character remains for some time. As far as Holly – yes her character is mean and sinical, and she is being humbled now, but we all love to “hate”. As far as Tommy returning, well we shall see, I wasn’t overly excited, but who knows? I love the program and the writers are doing a fantastic job with all the characters.
I can’t stand Holly and glad she got what’s coming to her. Unfortunately, we are going to have to endure another Olin when Michelle becomes the surrogate. Are they taking over the damn show? Gilles was HOT. I loved how he interacted with everyone and the pool scene – there were no words to describe how delicious he looked. I loved how Kitty texted everyone and their reactions – especially Justin’s. Priceless. I love this show and actually don’t mind Tommy coming back.
Surprised you didn’t mention the reason for the fireworks–Kitty’s guided meditation was about fireworks attacking her cancer cells. So it was Robert’s way of showing that he was listening and supporting her, rather than just a random fireworks display (as sweet as that could be).
The Luc storyline is fun. But every time Sarah’s little towheads showed up, it brought this episode to a screeching halt. No one watches this show for children’s drama.
I agree; I didn’t miss them at all. Perhaps they could go to Europe again.
Gilles made an appearance at the Womens Show in Toronto on Saturday. He told the audience his original contract with B&S was for 5 eps, and it’s been extended – de didn’t say for how long.
Marcia, you just made my day!!!!!!
I loved watching the Walkers get on a frenzy over Luc. It was silly but entertaining anyway. I DON’T want Tommy back ugh and if Julia comes with too is gonna be a snoozer. I love that actress but I hate her character in B&S.
This program is terrible, and if you get any “sweeter” I’m going to throw up!!
Totally disagree, but you’re entitled to you opinion. Here’s a suggestion – stop watching!
i loved this episode. it was hilarious and wonderful. i guess sarah never explained to kitty that the story she told about luc with another woman wasnt true?
kitty figured that one out right away because it was from Nora’s favorite movie.
But after Kitty figured that out, Sarah gave her the impression that the entire story was made up. I wanted to see Kitty’s reaction when she found out Sarah really did meet a man in France.
Did anyone notice that Michelle is the new character Roxy from The Hills? Find it very weird.
Loved this episode though! Kitty was just so charming throughout. And yes Kevin dropping the flowers and Nora’s quick response “Kevin get a grip” was just brilliant.
i dont watch the hills, but knowing that bothers me.
Roxy from the hills is roxy olin patricia wettig and ken olin who are David and holly who run the show.. She’s been a recurring character for a while
Uhh it was Justin who said the line”….and we’re related” plus complained about everyone objectifying Luc. Scotty like everyone else sans Nora was drooling at pool boy. After watching the promos I thought this was going to be a weak episode, but it turned out really good. So far it’s been a good season for Freres and Souers.
Roxy Olin (Michelle) is the real life daughter of Patricia Wettig (Holly) and Ken Olin (David) and I HATE that they’ve brought her back as Michelle….. she’s a terrible actress
ditto
I hate that nepotism ALWAYS runs amok on any project Olin gets involved with. Wettig is a good actress — can’t she get a job on the merits just once??
Calista Flockhart is owning this season. Her reaction to Luc walking into the kitchen was hilarious.
Love Gilles. He could have just stood there and not said anything and that would have been ok with me. Can’t say that I’ve missed Tommy – not the least bit excited that he’s coming back. As for Holly — whatever.
Kitty DID know that the other-woman story wasn’t true – she remembered a movie with he same plot. But – then Kitty thought that the whole story wasn’t true – until, of course, Luc walked in the door.
You’re right PopWatchers, it was Justin who said those lines so I’ve corrected the article for future readers. Mea culpa, I must have been staring too hard at Luc’s abs after all and got distracted.
We forgive you and don’t blame you. I’d get distracted and forget who said what as well.
Um, did anyone notice who Michelle is? It’s Whitney’s ‘friend’ from the City.. Roxy! I reeeeeallllly don’t like that girl and am VERY against her having anything to do w/ this show. Why didn’t you mention that?
i totally agree with you!!!
Does anyone else find it strange that Ryan is no longer part of the family drama? How come he has not been told about Kitty’s cancer? When he appeared briefly in that one scene last night I almost forgot that he was still on the show.
I replayed the Luc-pool-party twice – I laughed so hard. It was brilliant & hilarious. Luc is a delicious addition & I hope he doesn’t go away soon – who knows he might become permanant. It was great to have Scottie stand up to Kevin – as Kevin can be a bully. Scottie is the perfect balance for him – in fact Scottie makes Kevin likable. I am glad tommy is coming back – I really want all the all the Walkers – the good, the bad, & the ugly. I DID feel a little sorry for Holly… have the wedding in Nora’s back yard .. please – end of money probelms, but oh more relationalship problems between Holly & Nora, fun to watch.
I’m so happy TOMMY is finally coming back. This show is not the same without ALL the Walker siblings.
And yes, kudos to Emily for her dance skills. That girl is for real!
Was I the only person who was a little cranky at the writers for giving Gilles lines like “in France we say…” ?? And there are such subtle hints at his genuineness that the thought disappears. Come-on writers!!! We know and love that he’s French! We assume most that he does is French. Give this guy some real meat. He needs more depth. Sure he’s hot to look at, but he’s also reeking with genuine charm and literally burns through the screen just standing there smiling. Give this guy a REAL chance. He’s an “it” guy, no doubt; just let him loose on screen. pleeeease!!!
Brilliant, Gemma! The cliche stuff was fun and I’m glad Gilles has re-energized the writers but I want him to stay around and for that they need to stop the cliches now (but did love the “cliche sur mer” sign last week! In joke!) LOve your “just let him loose on the screen.” Ditto!
Gilles Marini is not French…. He is Italian Greek. It takes time to develop a character….Give the Writer’s & GIlles a break…. In my opinion, so far so good.
Hi Donna. I know Gilles is Italian Greek, but “Luc” is French. And believe me, I’d give Gilles a gazillion breaks if I could; I think the development of his potential is *the* thing to watch. I guess I just want more Gilles and I can’t have more fast enough.
Love the show but hate, hate, HATE ABC/Disney’s need to cross-promote everything! Having Gilles on was great, but incorporating dancing was conceptually hokey. And when Kitty opened the music box and ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ twinkled out, I wanted to throw the remote thru my TV. Okay, I get it: ABC is part of the Disney ‘Evil Empire!’ Enough incest already!!!
I don’t like cross promotion either, but to call Disney the “evil empire” is grossly over the top. It’s a company that has entertained and thrilled adults and children for decades with its movies, cartoons and amusement parks. Perhaps it’s only problem is now it owns network TV which can be boring and crass at times.
Hey AD, sorry to offend, but that’s my opinion and you’re certainly entitled to yours. Over the top? Not really – do some research: start with the book, “Disney: The Mouse Betrayed”. Since Walt’s passing, the corporation’s changed – for the worse (IMO). Thanks.
The worst episode of the season. Why is it even called Brothers and sisters? It should be called Sisters. This was a female centric episode-the estrogen was oozing from my TV. Ok Gilles is hot in a fake model way.He is all hairless and pumped up like a Harlequin Romance cover. The scene of the family ogling him in the pool was funny for a few minutes. But it went on and on.Of course, he is so talented and non judgmental he even teaches that lummox Justin to dance. Sure! And he’s a gourmet cook too. Yeah right.. And of course all the gays were texted to show up in the middle of the day -even the old letch Saul came by to ogle the Frenchman and show off his lousy French accent.
And Sarah’s kids! I hate to knock kiddie actors..but really- they act like no real kids I know. The scene where Sarah talks to them about Kitty was so sugary and fake. And their reactions were so sweeet. Yuck. And Holly losing ALL of her money in a Madoff type scam- how contrived! Now she can’t pay for the wedding of the century. how sad..
This show needs to get back on track..This is one of the strongest casts on TV. They need much better material than this low grade ,sub par soap plot.
I like Harlequin romance covers.
Ben you should read…Cue Justin: “And related.”
And Hannah….Although, like Justin said, it bordered on objectification
you guys should read more carefully!
Great Recap Wendy…keep up the good work!
Wendy CORRECTED the errors. When the others left their comments, the article hadn’t been corrected yet. Wendy left a comment herself about fixing the article because of the mistakes it had when it originally posted…..I think YOU need to read more carefully.
I loved the Brother’s & Sister’s episode, last night. There was a bit of everything, dancing, cooking, swimming, romance & a french accent to die for. When Luc danced with Nora I literally got Goosebumps from head to toe.Gilles Marini is bringing life back to that show.He is not Pepe le Pew I mean have you seen him lately….Kudo’s to Gilles Marini for a job well done! Again! I think he should become a regular on B & S.
