A few things I loved about last night’s new episode of Ugly Betty: 1) The scene where Betty fell over in the bean bag chair. (Gags like that still get me!) 2) Seeing yummy Grant Bowler come back as Connor Owens. And 3) Marc’s bright yellow suit jacket (see left).

“I’m not double-booking haircuts to make money to get you into private school just so you can get rejected ’cause you’re too stupid ’cause you skipped public school.” —Hilda, to Justin
“Heeeeey…ate you.” —Marc, greeting Betty and then turning it into an insult
“Wow, you are like oozing self-pity today. Something’s up. Oh my God, happy birthday!” —Amanda, to Marc
“We are not talking about that! One more mention, and heads will roll. Pretty blonde heads that don’t have their original nose!” —Marc, threatening Amanda after she mentions his birthday
“How is Betty the editor magazine? That would be like me being the editor of a mechanics magazine or you being the editor of…a magazine.” —Marc, complaining to Amanda and insulting her at the same time
“I’m sorry, but that psychedelic misfit toy is living my dream!” —Marc, to Wilhelmina about his nemesis Betty
“A crappy school. Support group. This phone smells like cheese.” —Natalie, verifying to Betty where Daniel is and also commenting on the smell of his phone
“Can you believe there’s traffic in Bermuda? Luckily, I’ve chased felons here before, so I know all the short cuts.” —Wilhelmina, to Marc after landing in Bermuda
“Oh wow, that doesn’t sound like a woman who wants to be taken seriously. That sounds like a girl who wants to go out, get drunk, fall in bed with a man who doesn’t love her, come back here tomorrow and answer phones for the next 20 years. Or at least until the hard living catches up to her and Mode wouldn’t dare let that grizzle face out from behind a cubicle.” —Marc, guilting Amanda into helping him with his plan to take down Betty
“God no. They’re horrible people. Would you guys considering adopting?” —New Gucci designer Evan, to Betty about whether the Suarez family was taking applications
“Marc, this trip is a total disaster. Connor checked out this morning. And I suspect he was tipped off by our bargain bounty hunter. We need a new bounty hunter. Next time I prefer one in brown.” —Wilhelmina, over the phone to her assistant Marc
“Whoa! Okay, stop! I just realized what’s been going on here. You know, it is one thing to flirt with me. You’re a man, I’m me—it happens. But to do it just to get back at Betty? Nobody uses this to make that jealous.” —Amanda, after realizing she was just a pawn in the Betty-Matt relationship war
“You know what, we both deserve this job, but I got it. So deal with it. And act your age. Your new age.” —Betty, telling Marc off and dinging him on his recent birthday, too
“You don’t use me for your little schemes. We use people together!” —Amanda, after Marc used her to help him take down Betty
“Well, Marc, scheming is a lonely business.” —Wilhelmina, speaking a truism that she clearly knows quite well to her assistant Marc

All about ‘Ugly Betty’
I don’t mean to be superficial, but I was disappointed with the way they had Jamie Lynn Sigler looking last night. I did enjoy her though. I’m enjoying this season already.
Oh wow I think that you nailed them all. Anything Vanessa Williams’ spouts out is pure comedy gold.
Not gonna lie, but overall the episode was quite weak. The Daniel storyline was zzzzz, Hilda/Justin were barely shown, Matt was a douche as usual, and I reeeeealllly hope the writers don’t pursue an Amanda/Matt storyline (although they probably will!)
And on a side note, Daniel sure looked “doughy” in the pool scenes – compared to when he looked AMAZINGLY HOT in the L Word…*sigh*
Oh man, Eric Maibius (sp?) used to be soooooOOOoooo hot back in the day!
I couldn’t disagree with you more. He’s hotter than ever. Who wants a thin stick figure? All I could see is the slighest, tiniest glimmer of a paunch, which I find cute. You guys are acting like he’s John Goodman for god’s sake.

I would think that Daniel’s suppose to look “doughy”, being that he’s grieving the loss of Molly.

About Daniel’s weight issues: I thought the same thing until I realized: HE’S MOURNING PEOPLE! so it makes sense that he would let himself go for the time being until he gets back on living and (hopefully) working out again.
Now, am I the only one who misses full Ugly Betty recaps?? I mean they still recap that crappy Heroes and other subpar shows, why can they give us UB recaps?!
UB has only been back on one week! Heroes has been back on for several and is better this season then it has been in a while.
Another person acting like Daniel has become John Goodman. He’s still an incredibly hot and fit man. I don’t see anything about him that says fat to me. Shallow much?
I’m just gonna say that I could not care less what Daniel looks like, and lay off the John Goodman jokes. I am 5’4″ and weigh 100 lbs. I could find a work around the weight issue, I’d be laughing so hard that I wouldn’t even think about it.
Marc, please bring those cute curly locks back! K?
Funny episode, but I’m sick of the Matt/Betty storyline. I like him better with Amanda than I do with Betty.
Yeah, two vapid, self-centered people with limtied brain cells and even less heart. Matt and Amanda are better for each other.

ENOUGH of Matt/Betty! The “date” scene was so hard to watch. But Marc and Amanda still make my day.
I’m probably the only one who thinks like this but was anyone else disappointed in Betty? She had the opportunity to nail an exclusive and did the most unprofessional thing she could have done. I’m sorry but nail the interview first and then make up with your boyfriend. You spent the whole 1st episode feeling like you didn’t deserve the job and you finally get the chance to prove yourself and you blow it! I also would have loved to have seen more of Justin. I hope they are going to go somewhere with how he was picked on. And show that a lot times those doing the bullying are gay themselves.
I completely agree with you. her behavior completely disappointed me and it irked me to think that she was able to move on so quickly, although it probably is a good thing that she can pick herself up after failure so quickly.
Micheal Urie was genius this episode! It continues to piss me off that he STILL hasn’t been nominated for an Emmy! MARC IS LIKE, MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER!

i actually hope they aired this as their premiere rather than last week’s boring two-hour affair. sigh…the rating is abysmal.
