I am dismayed with Doctor Mick. There have been 2 severe medical situations and you’d never know there was a doctor among the players. You’d think he would have instinctively whipped off his blindfold and tried to help Russell the minute Jeff yelled “Medic”! And he never tried to help Mike, either. What kind of doctor is that? MickDreamy? More like MickUseless. Jeff’s tender compassion and the Survivor Medical Staff were the best things in this epiode. What’s the best in every episode? Seeing Jeff in the opening sequence. My picks for the final four are Evil Russell, Erik, Natalie and Shambo.

why would you jump in and let everyone know you are a doctor when you are in a game trying to win money? if you don’t know this, doctors make good money. to spell it out further for you, that could get him voted out.

      • Amerie

Yes, Dan, I would have. Because it’s the right thing to do. Mick took an oath as a physician. You don’t put that oath in your back pocket just because you’re on Survivor.

      • puppy dog

Hey Dan. They already know he’s a doctor. That isn’t the reason he didn’t jump in, and help. If you watch closely you will see that they all talk about themselves, and some of them (Mick) are honest. I think the only spinner is Russhole.

I don’t really know what the rules are for contestants on the show when someone is hurt. But maybe they are told not to touch anyone that is hurt or sick, because the may cause further injury.

      • puppy dog

Fiona. I think you’re exactly right. It could put them in a position to be sued. Better to let the show medics take care of it. They are equipped, and obviously immediately at hand. I’t rather have well rested, well fed people who haven’t suffered from extreme cold working on me than a person who couldn’t possibly be a the top of his game due to his physical, and mental condition. It’s smart of him not to attempt any type of treatment.

      • KD

Absolutely agree with Fiona and puppy dog. Also, I know that you need different licensing from state to state in this country alone–perhaps Mick is not allowed to practice medicine while in Samoa. The medical team is there for a reason, and it’s not like Russell had stopped breathing and the medics were nowhere in sight. Then I’m sure Mick would have jumped in.

      • Amerie

Fiona brings up a legal angle that I hadn’t considered. I agree with Fiona, PD and KD. I think what bothered me the most is that Mick didn’t even flinch, not even a muscle moved on him. I guess I was naively hoping that the healer in him would instinctively come out. Let it go, Amerie. lol

    Jeff,
It looks as though the epi was a tribute to Russ-he deserved it!

I was extremely disturbed watching this episode of Survivor. It was completely irresponsible of you and your producers to allow contestants to suffer like this with minimal rain and food. I’d like to know more about how you monitor how much food and water they are ingesting. You are very lucky Russell recovered at all or else this would have been the end of Survivor.

    • puppy dog

Hello Lilly. It’s Survivor. Get it? They would have food, and warmth IF they were survivors.

  • Indy

I just found out that on June 20th, Samoa received 9.8 inches of rain!!! Yowzer!! I found this info at wunderground.com.

  • Queen Bee

I thought it was a great episode. I like how Survivor allows people the freedom to pursue their adventure, but at the same time, is right there to make the necessary calls. I thought all the decisions made were the right ones, anyway. And while I’m no fan of Evil Russell, gotta give him props for his superhuman toughness. Dreadlocked Russell was also much tougher than I’d previously given him credit for.

  • Fiona Bloemker

Since this is my first season viewing and responding to this Survivor blog, what happens in the off season?

    • Puppy dog

That’s a good question. I haven’t checked it out. Maybe we should keep the spirit going. It is almost as fun as watching the show. There’s some fun people commenting here.

This episode is why Jeff Probst has 2 Emmys – I believe he made the right decisions in getting help quickly to Russell, and in calling off the challenge. This was a very disturbing episode to watch, but it was also very well-done. I also agree that all the contestants should have gotten pizza instead of no one. I mean, come on, one strong physically fit contestant just collapsed from dehydration. You’d think the producers would want to give all the contestants a little pick-me-up to ensure that that didn’t happen again. I wonder what their reasoning on that decision was.

    • Cowardly Lion

quit kissing up to Probst..haven’t you read the comments on here? The guy practically reeks of pepperoni & sausage .. when everyone got their pizza, there were a few slices missing..hmm I wonder who could have taken them ? Someone with access to the pizza..someone who loathes 2 groups of people -men & women..someone who likes rain..why? because he likes to see people suffer! Someone who’s name rhymes with Peff Toast that’s who!

      • Fiona Bloemker

I’m mean no disrespect, but people who are as skinny as Jeff, don’t eat pizza. I am sure he eats mostly healthy like his mom and dad.
Me I am a huge pizza fan but limit my self to two slices.

      • KD

Well, it’s HIS blog. If you hate him so much, limit yourself to Dalton’s.

      • Fiona Bloemker

I’m sorry if you think I hate Jeff, I don’t hate in anyway, I love Jeff like a brother, we use to be very close when we were younger. I did not mean to offend anyone who is thin, just remembering the days I was skinny too. But I like pizza and other foods to much to sacrifice like Jeff and his family do. I admire people that are dedicated to a healthy life. I am just not one of them.

  • Shawna

I agree with you, Jeff. It would have been insensitive to require a vote after losing someone so dramatically.

  • puppy dog

Well, here it is Thursday night, and Samoa episode 7 is done. I wish Jeff would write, and post his blog immediately after the show airs. After all, he was there, and knows what happened, so he could write it before it airs, and post it immediately after. Who the hell is up at 6 in the morning to hop on the computer, and comment. NOT ME!

    • puppy dog

Well, I acquiese to Davidellen. I have had two comments deleted, for reasons that I don’t see. This is a sucky website. You experienced this before I did, and I thought that was weird. But it isn’t. Do I think this comment will post? NO

      • KD

I see it–it’s here. What got deleted? You should have spelled it “beyotch”–it might have passed muster. ;) I agree this website has some issues, but I do love this blog, so I deal.

  • puppy dog

Oh, I figured it out. You can’t say the B word. Don’t ever become a dog breeder. I have been for 43 years, so that word is second nature to me. And I was attributing it to myself in jest. How distasteful is that?

    • Fiona Bloemker

Cool puppy dog, I am a huge dog lover and have two B word dogs myself. They are one of my greatest joys.

  • Christina

I have always wanted to say this, but i did not think there was a venue where I could tell someone who is actually involved in Survivor…especially the Host! So thanks Jeff for doing this….I just want to say that I LOVE how Survivor has used FEMALE MEDICS for the past many seasons! It is so great to have these role models! Thanks
