What is going on across the pond on The X Factor?! Simon Cowell’s UK Idol-esque hit already raised eyebrows when judge Dannii Minogue kinda sorta outed contestant Danyl Johnson, and on last week’s show, the twin act known as John & Edward performed a direct homage to Britney Spears’ “Oops!…I Did It Again” video that was…well…you’ll have to see it to believe it. If you can, keep watching at least to the 1:00 mark, when things get really, really creepy:
To quote my colleague Michael Slezak, quoting Sue Sylvester, “I was aroused…then furious!” And Simon hit it spot on the nose when he declared the performance a train wreck that he couldn’t wait to watch again. In fact, I’m almost unsure whether I’m more gobsmacked at how bizarre John & Edward seem to be or that Simon takes it all with such good humor, continuing to make clear how much more he prefers the judge’s chair when it’s in his mother country — and on a show he controls outright.
What do you make of all of this, P’Dubs? Do you prefer the laid-back Simon? And what say you on John & Edward: Creepy and clueless? Performance art? Creepy and clueless performance art?

They’re tone deaf, can’t dance, and they’re creepy. Winners!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek
No wonder Simon prefers that judge’s chair…look at what he has sitting beside him as opposed to here in the States. I’d much prefer judging with those two that Randy, Kara, Paula, or Ellen.
That has to be the worst thing I’ve ever seen. In my life. Period.
Simon is so much “lighter” when he’s on X-Factor. I like knowing he’s not always rude.
The sad thing about the twins, is that another judge actually helped pick that song….he wasn’t on the panel that night!
That made me laugh so hard I cried.. easily the worst/best performance I’ve seen in a while; they’re so good and being bad.
I’m sorry, but I find John and Edward entertaining, and not in a “so bad it’s good” way. They will probably be huge teen idols at the end of this. And Simon not only looks like he’s enjoying himself more than he does on Idol, he also gets more camera time, which I love, because he is the star of the show and the reason I watch both Idol and X Factor. The Idol camera people and producers can take a lesson.
The X-Factor is such a train wreck, but you just can’t stop watching it! And Simon has so much more fun with it than Idol. He’s a completely different person in the UK!
That was so bad it was brilliant.
Even though my ears and eyeballs are permanently traumatized.
Well, they were terrible. Cute, but terrible!
HA!!! They actually made Britney sound like Maria Callas!
John and Edward are brilliant – this performance was sheer genius. They are hilarious, entertaining, cute and fun, and don’t take themselves so seriously. The rest of the acts seem foolish and mediocre in comparison. Go John and Edward! Whatever happens, I think they have a really bright future ahead of them and will be successful in whatever they do, and they will remember this experience with no regrets.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Do they think they are actually good? They are definitely entertaining because they are sooo bad.
they think they are great and believe in what they are doing look at johns face he is nearly crying when told they were bad. the judges should let them go
What in the hell was that? They looked like they were going to make out with each other.
