'The Vampire Diaries' behind-the-scenes photo: Vicki as a vampire!

vampire-diaries_lOn last week’s awesome episode of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, we saw Vicki morph into a vampire. So how does she fare in her new incarnation? Well, this behind-the-scenes photo—taken from the upcoming Halloween-themed episode airing on Oct. 29—serves as a little peek.

In this shot, Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are at Mystic Falls High’s Halloween bash. Elena’s channeling her inner nurse, and yes, Vicki is looking rather vamp-ish here, but The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec assures that “it’s just a costume” at this point—no one else knows yet about her true transformation into a blood-sucker. “Elena and Stefan’s whole goal,” she continues, “is to make sure that nobody else knows what’s happened to her.”

But it’s not that simple, of course—and the nature of Halloween doesn’t help. “The school does an awesome haunted house Halloween party, where the parking lot is decorated and the whole interior hallway of the school is this cool, creepy haunted house,” Plec tells EW. “And all the action of the episode culminates there when you’ve got people in vampire costumes running around. You’ve got monsters and demons and, as everything with Vicki comes to a head, as she fights off her urges to feed, we’re in this haunted house and we’re at this Halloween party, and the s— hits the fan, as they say.”

In essence, actually being a vampire and being dressed as vampire, might be too much for Vicki, even though she looks rather pleased in this particular photo. “It’s being in such extreme sensory overload that has an impact on her,” Plec adds.

So, Vampire Dairies-watching PopWatchers, how do you feel about Vicki as a vamp? Do you think she can control herself in what seems to be this out-of-control Halloween bash? Does she have the self control to hold herself back from feeding?

I think her past behavior shows she doesn’t have much self-control, so this episode should be interesting. I’m curious about how they’ll deal with her not being able to go out in the sun.

  • Heather

I concur, I don’t think she will be able to control herself either, but I think Jeremy will play a part in her deciding she needs to. But i think Stefan might do some vampire rehab thing on her to make her learn control. About the whole sun thing, maybe they have a spare ring for her?

    • Tessa

Yeah, I think Jeremy will have his say in this too. But I’m still confused on whether Vicki fed on Logan on her own free will or not?

    • Michelle

I was wondering about the ring thing myself. In order to keep up the charade, do they need Vicki to keep going to school? Last time I checked school was during the day. Although given her newborn status, it may be better to keep her from young hormonal hotties.

I love this show!!! It just keeps getting better and better and the fact that Vicki is a vamp now is just amazing. I can’t wait to see the next episode. However I will be tuning into survior: samoa first :)

I can’t believe I’m actually excited about this storyline! I was so ready for Vicki to die, but after the last episode, I’m super excited. A low self esteem vampire with issues? Sounds awesome.

i kinda wanna see vicki becomes damon’s sidekick (for lack of a better word)… for the sun thing, i’m wondering how katherine did it… was there a ring, or something to do with the necklace she was wearing… and if it was a necklace, i think vicki will end up with it…

    • sil

Your scenario sounds perfect. She will get whatever Catherine used.

This is the best show ever!

  • Carrie

I have a feeling she’s going to end up hurting Jeremy. Not intentionally, but because she’s so new at this and doesn’t realize the true extent of her abilities. And I think as she gains more understanding of her new nature she will turn against Damon.

One of the best new shows this year! Every episode is a delight. Mr Williamson, keep up the good job, sir! Now this IS a vampire show, following the steps of True Blood and so far away from TcheesyLight!

    • anna

whomp whomp on “TcheesyLight”…man that was coooornyyyy

  • cerie

This show has been the biggest surprise of the year for me — a lot of fun, a lot of drama and characters who are much more compelling than I’d anticipated from a supernatural teen soap. Can’t wait to see what happens next for Vicki.

I became a fan of the ‘VAmpire Diaries’ series when I was in middle school, and even thought back then how it would make a great movie/movie series. I am now 31. I am VERY disappointed at what they have done with this franchise. The actress who plays Elena doesn’t even fit the description of her in the book, (which is an important part of the whole plot) and that’s just to start. WHY does everyone have to compromise quality for fame and fortune? SAD SAD SAD. I most definitely don’t and won’t watch this show which they have just turned into 90210 with vampires.SHEESH.

This show is what it is all about. I mean all the characters suck, but isn’t that the point! Sucking is a good thing if u are a vampire or a high quality Vacuum. The character Damon is a fun jolly coming of age 154 year old teen who only murders when provoked. Stefan is the real bastard, always teasing him and calling him names like human or decent. Yaaayyyy.

    • Carrie

Yeah, they’ve changed some of the details and story, but how has that diminished the show’s quality? Most reviewers say TVD is producing some terrific episodes, especially the last few.

    • cerie

They haven’t compromised quality. They have simply taken liberties with the book. I, too, love the original series — but it would not work done straight as a TV show. I think the series stands on its own, and I think Nina Dobrev is a terrific actress. If you just want illustrations for the books, find an artist to draw you some pictures in your margins.

    • Anne

I haven’t read the books, but I know from watching TRUE BLOOD that you can change a book series and still maintain the essence of it. I love the Sookie Stackhouse books, and I enjoy watching TRUE BLOOD. It’s okay that they aren’t the same…

I really like this show. I tuned initially to mock it but found myself enjoying it. Damon is a hoot. Watching his character play with Vicki and turn her was comical and sad all at once. I like the potential for Vicki to be another person the brothers can fight over. Stefan trying to get her to live off bunnies and Damon trying to get her to be more Vampirelike. Should be fun.

  • Angela

From the books I got that Damon was in his twenties and Stefan was a teenager. Damon had more experience with woman and Stefan really didn’t so when Kathrine was courting both of them without the other knowledge it turned really bad. I am not a huge fan of Damon I think his too reckles and did things to expose them to the town. I still would like to know what he’s up too. I think it has everything to do with Elena, but since they changed so many things from the books. I am interested where they are going with this show. I really do not see the connection with 90210.

  • amy

i dont like her being a vampire, i just liked it with the brothers! but thats just my opinion i guess, lovee the show tho; and they always seem to have fit guys! phooooaaaaarrrr,

  • Alex

I have become a HUGE fan of the Vampire Diaries, after watching the very first episode. I’ve also purchased the first 2 books, and LOVE reading them as well!!! I hope SW will keep this show alive and going for many seasons to come!!!
