Gleeks, I have a confession to make: I have been a teeeeeny bit down on my fave new show of the season. I just can’t get excited about either pregnancy plot — and seriously, Will and Terri Schuester’s “baby” storyline is severely straining the credibility of the show’s fragile universe — and the series is over-relying on Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester for both comic relief and conflict.
However! These clips from upcoming episodes are putting the Glee pep back in my step. SPOILER ALERT: These clips are spoilery. Spoiler cat gets spoiled, etc.
Can the Mohawk-ed Puck do for “Sweet Caroline” what Heath Ledger’s Patrick did for “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”? Looks like yes:
Hmm, looks like Rachel and Puck are into each other a little? Maybe? Ruck? Prachel?
Mr. Schuester “busts a move,” which….no.
Aaaand finally, he does “The Thong Song.” Again, no.
I for one am so on board with BWE’s petition to “stop forcing Glee Club director Mr. Will Schuester, played by Broadway actor Matthew Morrison, into performing highly embarrassing rap and/or R&B numbers on national television.” Truth!
Okay, Glee fans: These clips make me more excited for upcoming episodes. On a scale of Quinn-chilly to Rachel-pep, how much are you looking forward to the next few Wednesdays?
Mr Shue singing the rap songs is funny. That’s why they are in there.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that Morrison WANTED to sing The Thong Song-although this clip seems to show again inappropriate closeness for two people who are involved with other people.
I think that Matt did a great job on “Bust” and “Gold digger”! “Thong” seemed a little more tongue in cheek, but he def has skillz! Sure, he’s no Eminem, but who is? He does a good job and the man can dance! I read that he used to breakdance (which shows) and that sick one arm handstand? Awesome!
Agreed. I think he actually does extremely well on them but, having proven that he can do it, I would love to see him actually get to show off his voice and *sing* something for once. Do we have to bring back Cheno to get Will to sing a ballad?
re Chelsea: if you get a chance to watch the “Director’s Cut” of the pilot episode, Will sings “Leaving on a Jet plane” (by John Denver) and did great job! it may be on youtube as well….
I also think I read somewhere that Matthew Morrison’s original background in the arts was hip hop and break dancing, so it’s not all that crazy (see interview at http://www.parade.com/celebrity/celebrity-parade/2009/0909-matthew-morrison-glee.html)

I love Glee. I am just glad to see Mr. Schuester and Emma getting closer. I hope that is a sign. I dont mind the R&B songs – they give me the ‘I cant believe he’s doing that’ giggles
Ditto. I mean, they’re totally wrong, but this show is just made out of giddy, awesome ridiculousness.
Matthew Morrison grew up singing R’n'B and breakdancing. If they are making Mr Schue singing R’n'B songs to please him, I don’t mind. This not a Broadway show or HSM or American Idol or whatever, this is GLEE! Everything is invited and welcomed. Don’t diss on my beloved show, Ms Lyons.
I think Glee is what AI SHOULD be–interesting people actually singing good, neat covers. I know they are autotuned, but I enjoy these singers more than any singer I’ve ever seen on AI. Especially Rachel–her voice is stunning.

I’m actually more annoyed by Terri’s Sister then Terri. I would have punched her lights out by now if I were Will.

Yeah, that was a bit much around the students…I could see Sue Sylvester all over that for inciting ‘lust’ with teenage girls, its kinda shocking that it hasn’t been brought up by anyone to her or she’s never noticed it.
Will busting out break dance moves and doing a rap song? Far from unusual. I mean, sure it’s not USUALLY the teacher goofing off in glee/theatre groups, but that’s normally because they are too old to do so, lol. One day a castmate of mine was playing a bouncy gospel tune and dorky white boy in our cast did an entire number of praising and healing a broken cinder block we found in the green room. Just last night – a flamboyant boy started doing a rap number from In the Heights that was being played over the speakers in our theatre. This is why I love Glee, because these things happen all the time. Regardless of all this, Morrison CAN dance, so I’ll deal with the adequate rapping.
I definately agree that some of what makes this show so amazing is the inherent truth in what happens in terms of sillyness behind the doors of a performance group. I know that our band directors were some of the best people ever to hang out with before a show with the joking that went on. And what happens in the “glee room” is so on par with what happens in band and choir rooms in high school!
I think he is the kind of guy who I wouldn’t normally find sexy but the songs bring it out of him. I liked seeing it, but to keep it going (particularly around the students) is inappropriate. I guess the whole school is kind of messed up (which is part of its quirky charm) and it isn’t real life so I’m not getting too worked up about it, though.
I love Will’s rapping/dancing. It’s good and hysterical at the same time.
Love the Rachel/Puck pairing!!! Very smart. A bit tired of Rachel pining for Finn… IMO The show will be fine as long as they get rid of the stupid pregnancy plot lines…. And use Jane Lynch more. She’s comedic gold.

I agree! Smart move by the Glee people to give Rachel a new (and available) guy to pine over. Plus Puck is an awesome singer! Why isn’t he singing more? He’s better than Finn I think. Mr. Schu rapping just makes me laugh.
I keep wondering if Puck is sincere in his atention to Rachel, or is he using her because I’m sure he knows that Finn has some feelings for her and is trying to force Finn’s hand by trying to make him jealous andthen clearing the way to Quinn. It also looks like he’s trying to get Q to see him in a new light as well! ahh, the fun love square! (At least until Jonathan Groff shows up as a poss Rachel love interest in upcoming eps)

Mr. Schue is HOT; dang I’d like a guy who could dance like that! But of course, no teacher would ever, ever be allowed to do that around students.
