Hey Jeff, It’s hard to say who I’m rooting for at this point because I just feel like I don’t know most of these people. The only woman who’s made an impression so far is Shambo. This was the first week Liz has said more than two words, but all the other ladies just kind of meld into each other. If I had to pick at this point it would be Evil Russell against Liz for the win. Don’t want to see the other Russell win or any of the other women at his point. That food challenge was pretty gross–you looked like you were really enjoying yourself serving up those smoothies! I didn’t like Dave’s attitude at all–how annoying. I can’t remember who, but someone else on a recent Survivor was like that too. “I’m not gonna offer my help if you don’t specifically ask for it”. How ridiculous!

Sounds like something Coach would have done.

  • ShamBo & Russell

Jeff, we do a Survivor office pool. My picks to go to the end are Shambo and Evil Russell. Who wouldn’t want to take him to the end? I don’t think Shambo will win but we make our picks prior to the season starting. Laura is starting to seem like a dark horse that could do well. Final two: Natalie and Evil Russell.

  • Michael

Jeff, it’s hard to say. That’s kind of one of the problems of this season: there’s no one to root for. I’ll say that I love Shambo, but I don’t think she’s playing the game. Evil Russell is playing hard, but he’s too mean-spirited of a person. Liz earned my respect this week. I can see that my original assessment of Monica was correct (that she’s a nasty see-you-next-Tuesday) from her cold comments this week. I’m beginning to pull for Natalie (who I thought was an idiot at first) because I sense that she doesn’t trust Russell either but she’s smart enough to think that she’s trustworthy to him by not saying anything (which I think will end up being Evil Russell’s demise).

Last night during the show I actually said, “Awesome. It’s going to be a rain challenge!” It makes it more interesting to see the players fight through the cold and wet while playing for immunity. They’re playing for a million. It shouldn’t be easy. So it is annoying when people like Jaison complain and threaten to quit. It’s ok to have those thoughts, but don’t say them out loud, even in private to the camera. The audience will turn on you. Most of us would love to be there, even if we were cold and wet!

Really difficult to pick my favorites when I feel like I haven’t gotten to know all the players that well. I have a feeling it’s going to be someone that hasn’t gotten a lot of screen time yet. Although Evil Russell is entertaining it the “I love to hate him” kind of way, I don’t want him to get to the final two. It would be more gratifying to see him blindsided at tribal. I can’t wait for that show.

  • Teresa

I like Evil Russell better than other Russell. The leadership role has totally gone to his head.

  • meandjeff

I am thinking maybe Shambo might somehow pulls it off… perhaps her strategy is to play the awkward outsider!

I think Evil Russell is actually a pussycat… a smart, cunning, ruthless pussycat? Maybe! But the character he is playing is entertaining…

Perhaps Brett will win… the first Survivor to win, when no one knew who he was for the first half of the game!

  • KarenR

Evil Russell is extremely paranoid and I think that paranoia will eventually catch up with him. The way he turned on Liz?? I swear I saw a shift in his body language and face like he almost transformed into something else, it was weird and kinda scary. Foa Foa should be picking up on his nuances but they’re not. I thought Liz was a goner for sure.
Who would I like to see in the final two? I actually think it’s a bit early for me. I’ll wait til the merge to decide.
Oh and Jeff, was it Thailand where you ate the tarantula? There was a food competition that season that featured tarantulas.

    • Michael

Liz would have been gone if Ashley didn’t say let’s not talk about who we’re voting for and just vote. Either a dumb move for Ashley (of course you’re going to be the target, Ashley, given you performed badly on BOTH challenges) or a way to get out of there without having to quit.

      • KarenR

I think it also helped that Liz kicked ass at the immunity challenge. Even Eric commented something like “this girl is unreal”.

      • Michael

Liz played that awesomely. She had to know there was no way that she was going to hold onto it. But better to hold onto the rope and let the weight pull you rather than let go. Again, another sign that Liz might be a smart player.

  • Jake the Snake

    Evil Russell–he’s great TV!
    Jeff, lose the blender.
    Where are the water challenges?

    • meandjeff

It was pouring with rain… there’s your water challenges!! LOL

  • Dan S

I think Evil Russell’s time is limited. Their are some pretty big brains emerging on Foa Foa, it’s only a matter of time before Liz, Jaison, and the doctor dude who is really quite forgettable, team up and realize that russell a) has the idol (Jaison and Liz already know), b) realize he controls this game. Having said all that, Evil Russell will lose a lot of strength at the merge (possibly). I think his time is limited, Can’t say I’m sad, My Final two would be Dave and believe it or not.. shambo if she survives until the merge.

    • sprite

I think that Evil Russell already told Mick (Dr. Delicious) that he had the immunity idol since he (Evil) seems to be in an alliance (and I use that word loosely) with Dr. D and Jaison. Liz just figured it out on her own.

    • puppy dog

Acutally Dan, “doctor dude”, and Jaison already know he has the hii. He showed it to both of them. And Liz believes he has it, but so far doesn’t know for sure. I’m with you on Dave being in the final. I think if Mick and Jaison were smart they would vote ER out, and put the idol out of play.

  • RedMaximus20

Id say Sambo is the one id least like to see win. Shes likable….but…come on she didnt know Chickens could fly lmao.

Umm who I want to win.

Id say ither Dave, Russel H, or Natalie.

    • Did You Climb In From Space

I was rooting for Shambo. I’m up in the air after last night. There she goes READING the clues to Foa Foa. Squeeze me??? Her endearingness is wearing thin. Russell S is on me nerves for being such weenie to Shambo and Kevin Spacey is Passive Aggro whingey-winey guy, Gross!
I’m like Liz more and more. Hope she’s not AMF due to ER.

  • Mary S

    Jeff –
You seem to have a really unlikeable cast this season, especially compared to Tocantins. At this point, I would have to say I’m rooting for Erik and hope that none of the women from Galu (who also include Brett) wins. It would be nice to someone like Natalie win too, she seems like she could go very far in this game.

    • Michael

If Galu eventually pick off Foa Foa after the merge, Natalie will be the last one standing.

    • dohrayme

Maybe Erik is worthy of rooting for game-wise, but I doubt a lot of women would root for him if they had gone to cbs.com/survivor before the game and read his self-bio. He enjoys stealing other men’s girlfriends & thinks its great to have four or five GFs at a time & listed his favorite hobby as skirt chasing. Maybe the bios are still there. (If so enjoy Yasmin’s. It was a big clue that she’d not make it long.)

  • Sean

I find it mind-boggling that the three women on Foa (Ashley, Liz,and Natalie) resigned themselves to one of them going home. Apparently because the guys are in charge and they make the decisions for the tribe. Did any of them realize they had even numbers? 3 women and 3 men. The men had no superiority of numbers so the women could have made a decision to stick together for their own sakes. This pretty much sums up why I want Evil Russell to win as he’s the only one actually playing the game (at least on Foa). I don’t think the other Foa members have done a bit of strategizing this whole season, and that goes double for the women, who seem to make no effort at all to control their own destinies in the game.

Sure, Liz is strong and she may be smart enough to see through Russell. But so was Betsy. Since when is it good strategy to openly confront someone you think is lying to you and your whole tribe? That just makes that person an enemy and makes you a threat. Better to play that angle behind the person’s back and get the rest of the tribe on your side. Again, no strategy.

Have to say it’s been a REALLY disappointing season, especially coming off of last season where so many people (Brendan, Coach, Tyson, JT, and Stephen) were strategizing hard throughout. This is a season of sheep.

  • Jesse

Oh Jeff, I must say that one of my favorite parts of the show is listening to you ask the survivors just the right questions to stir up trouble. Unfortunately this week we didn’t see much of that due to the rainshorm and the fact that Foa Foa just didn’t take the bait.

I have to say I am an avid survivor watcher and I love to hate evil Russel. I have to say his moments of genius (such as finding the immunity idol without clues) are then canceled out by his even bigger moments of stupidity (telling more than one of his teammates that he found said idol). People talk and eventually this guy is going to be exposed. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet since he has absolutely no poker face. Unbelievable.

Perhaps someday I’ll take my friends advice and send in a tape. I’d love to take on the challenge. And as far as least like to win I’d have to go with Russel on Galu. That move sending Shambo was not a smart one and his take on Yas and Dave did not help either. That is all. Can’t wait to see next week.
    Cheers. – J

  • Mary S

Oh and Russell H winning would also be a decent outcome. At least he is playing the game! Which is more than can be said of the rest of this cast. What happened to the days when contestants did everything they possibly could to stay in this game and well.. SURVIVE. Ashley must have known she was a huge target but made absolutely no effort to even try and scramble (the rain is a poor excuse), so good riddance to her. Part of the appeal of the show is watching people go to battle on all fronts to stay alive in a physically and mentally challenging game from the comfort of your own living room and some of these contestants are just not delivering.

    • Michael

I think Ashley wanted to go but just didn’t want to do so by quitting.

  • Sara

I echo the sentiments in several other posts – there’s just no one to really root for this season. Jaison started out as likable but has gotten pretty whiney, Mick is a nonentity, Shambo is pretty much clueless, Liz appears to know what is going on but isn’t smart enough to keep from stirring up trouble with Russell H. I wonder how many of this years survivors were recruited because very few give any indication that they have actually watched this show before. A good 50% are from California (read: aspiring models/actors using Survivor for exposure). And while I understand that you need a certain number of hot young females to please your male viewers, can you not find any with a brain or at least something remotely interesting to say? Seriously, other than Liz and Shambo, I can’t even differentiate between the others. Very disappointing cast this year.

    • Julie

They had a few more this season that had a brain. Take Betsy, but keep in mind by not blending into the background makes you standout as a threat. I really liked Betsy and think she would have been great to cheer for.

    • dohrayme

Jeff Probst should pay attention to this post. It speaks the sentiments of many many people.
