Darren, dude, what is the first rule of Fight Club?! Seriously.
I didn’t like Fight Club. It insists upon itself. I liked The Money Pit.
I would agree that Se7en may have started the washed out look but the camera work in Fight Club was revolutionary. One point of contention with this article is that Chuck Palahniuk isn’t even mentioned. The reason that the film is such a wonderful book to film adaptation is that Palahniuk laid it all out for Fincher in the book. The dialogue was brilliant and the descriptions were amazing, right down to the blood in Ed Norton’s teeth when he smiles at work. I loved this movie when it came out and I watched it again recently and loved it even more. There hasn’t been anything like it since.
You broke the first (and second) rule of fight club.
But really interesting article. I didn’t watch fight club until a couple years ago and couldn’t believe I had waited so long to see it. Though I have to say, the reveal in the book is a bit more interesting.
Helena Bonham Carter pwned everyone else.
Brad Pitt is steal the best actor of all the time.
