Taylor Swift to host 'Saturday Night Live': Sketch ideas?

Taylor Swift will host Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7, and it doesn’t take a comic genius to guess that her opening monologue will be interrupted. The question is: After a few of the cast members — or perhaps popular recurring hosts like Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin? — take their shots at her, will Kanye West actually pop up? Good PR move if they’ve kissed and made up. Or like press.

Swift’s said producers asked her over the summer if she’d like to host, and she’s been thinking of sketches ever since. I’m looking forward to seeing what she and the writers come up with: If you follow her on Twitter (“Getting photobombed by Daniel Craig = Priceless”), watch her MySpace videos (sample below), or remember her acting on SNL last January, or that “Thug Story” rap video from June’s CMT Music Awards, you know she’s got a good sense of humor and a willingness to “go there.”

Any sketch ideas you’d like to pitch her? I’d love to see a Celebrity Rehab-like sketch for headbangers. The girl is a big fan of the hair toss, and it’s got to stop. I’m also gonna need a Kellie Pickler cameo (they’re BFFs).

god please no Kanye on here. That is way to played out to be funny.

    • Agreed

Thank you, Wendy. Couldn’t agree more. Knowing SNL, they’ll interrupt every one of her sketches. Because if it wasn’t funny the first time, it will definitely be funny the 11th time.

        lol they probably will.

if he monologue gets interrupted i’m changing the channel

Then don’t watch. Why would that upset you? You don’t like references to things that happened?

Rejig the video where’s she’s communicating with the guy through the window & make it about stalking or something pervy.

They should have Kanye West do the opening monologue, and then have Taylor interupt him! Say something to the effect that although he is a good rapper, Jay-Z is much better and carried him on “Run this Town”. Kayne could use the good press to set things right, but I doubt his ego would let him.

Dear God we’re gonna have to hear her try to sing without AutoTune again…

  • Doug

I think Rich needs to learn what Auto-Tune is.

    • Elizabeth

She could go on a talk show w/ Penelope and we could see how Penelope has topped Taylor (“I was interruped during my Nobel Peace Prize speech”; “I was nominated for 10 CMAs”)
They could bring out Will Forte’s creepy neighbor guy too at a fan club outing.
There’s got to be a Deep House Dish too…

something about how she can’t sing and writes songs about as complex as a high school sophomore’s diary entries, yet still is a multi-millionaire and successful “artist”. that would be a hilarious sketch. so meta.

    how about this……

during her monologue, Tracy Morgan interrupts her & says “I know you’re hosting SNL right now, but Alec Baldwin is the greatest SNL Host of ALL-TIME”. Then the camera points out to Alec Baldwin who’s sitting in the audience in shock.

Have Beyonce interrupt her. Then have Kanye interrupt Beyonce. Then have Taylor shoot Kanye. Comedy gold!

  • Small Wonder

EPIC FAIL – her songs stink – just another pop falvor of the moment, when her clock strikes 25 she will move over for the next 18 year old.

They should have real talent perform like Renee Olstead – she has ACTUAL singing ability reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O’Day – she is amazing and does not a music video or choreography or fake drama (I think the whole Kanye thing was rigged for publicity) to be good

Taylor Swift is overrated but so is Kanye

Just promise that there is no Gilly sketches, no target lady sketches, and as little Kirsten Wiig as possible, they have been dipping into that well a little too much lately. Stick with the best (Bill Hader, Will Forte, and Andy Sandberg) –

Bring back Michaela Watkins – her Bitch Pleeze skit was the best – I could not stop laughing

How about they have skits where she is NOT in them? Who wants to watch a singer attempt to act? Especially a singer who attempts (and fails) to sing. My gosh, why make such a big deal about a girl praised by tweens? SNL’s audience is not tweens, and it should never be for tweens.

  • Coach Pantusso

Just as long as Kirsten Wiig is not involved…not funny

  • legnayram

You don’t have to be a tween to like Taylor Swift! I’m in my mid-20s and I find her music really catchy… and as a female her songs remind me of things I would have written in my diary. I know I’m going to get admonished by other posters but I really don’t care. I like a variety of music so don’t assume that I’m some sort of over aged teeny bopper. A person can like Miles Davis, The Beatles, and Taylor Swift… She way better than Miley Cyrus!

  • Candi

you just KNOW they are gonna do the interupting thing. and probably too much. it will probably be like… every sketch she’s in and her opening thing. it’s gonna be annoying. they shouldn’t do that but they probably will. personally i don’t think the kanye thing should be addressed at all. its already gotten way too much publicity. don’t you people realize THATS WHAT HE WANTED?!?! ugh. you’re just giving him the satisfaction…
