On Monday, Annie announced that Ted Danson now owns her Sunday night with HBO’s Bored to Death. Earlier today, Slezak praised Shelley Long’s hilarious guest turn last night on ABC’s Modern Family. Doing the math, I now have a window to post this classic clip of Sam and Diane getting together in the March 1983 season 1 finale of Cheers. Diane’s leaving the bar to accompany Sam’s brother to Europe. But she returns to Sam’s office. I don’t want to spoil it if you don’t remember how the rest unfolds. I’ll just say that no matter how many times I watch it, I still howl as loud as the studio audience does when it gets to 6:13. Do you have a favorite finally!-they-get-together! scene from TV? Hit us with it.

Jim and Pam. Oh, and when Ross and Rachel got back together (i think it was the first time) after the reveal of the prom video that he was going to take Rachel to her prom. Then they kiss and Pheobe says “See? He’s her Lobster”
Jim and Pam??? – they are BORING – the Office is a terrible show – funny for the first couple of episodes but then it just became repetitive
Sam and Diane are the classic couple on tv
Although I like Jim and Pam as a couple, they didn’t really show us the “getting together” moment. They had the kiss in Casino Night, but didn’t get together for another season, and then it happened over the summer and the audience didn’t even see it. Sam and Diane had one of the funniest “getting together finally” scenes ever.
Emily and Naomi on Skins. It wasn’t exactly their first timeThat tryst they had in the forest was wild… and the morning after, where Emily calls out to her when she leaves was heartbreaking. God I love these two.
Cheers was at its greatest during the first season and went downhill after coach died. The episode “Endless Slumper” was when I knew this show would be a classic – the characters are flawed but loveable and not in a contrived was (like the Office)
“Endless Slumper” is one of the greatest episodes of all time. Maybe the greatest. Cheers is the best ever, baby!!!
Cheers was the greatest!!!!!
I would also nominate Lois and Clark : The New Adventures of Superman – the episode where Clark proposes to Lois in the rain and Lois replies “Who’s asking, Clark or Superman?” and takes off his glasses – great payoff after several seasons – much better than the Smallville crap now that DRAGS on forever – put in him in a cape and be done with it
I’ll second Lois & Clark on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman!
I’d also like to nominate Piper and Leo on Charmed…when they finally get married!
and Mack and Harm on JAG at the end…didn’t think it’d ever really happen!
I loved that episode of Lois and Clark – I felt so bad for Clark when he had to watch Lois marry Lex the first season – glad it did not go through – the show tanked after the proposal though
Lois and Clark were great together when Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher portrayed them – Smallville is cringe inducing, the actress portraying Lois cannot act
Even though it didn’t take long, When Rose and Bernard where reunited on Lost. I wasn’t particulary a fan but became hooked at that point
Me too! I was so happy! That moment was so well scored, such a long time coming, and never soured on the show after that. I’ll add Desmond and Penny reuniting to this, first over the phone (The Constant), then face to face (No Place Like Home).
Desmond and Penny!!! It may not have been as good as the phone call in the constant but desmond sees penny on the boat – chills!!!
Chuck & Blair (Gossip Girl)
Meg & Sam (American Dreams)
Christina & Burke (Grey’s Anatomy)
Seth & Summer (The O.C.)
Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?
I just about lost it when I read this.
Coach: “They used to call me Red in my playing days”
Diane’s mom: “Because of your hair color?”
Coach: “No, I read a book once”
Are you kidding me? Ross and Rachel!! He’s her lobster.
Angel and Cordelia. I thought I would never like anyone with Angel other than Buffy, but I LOVED their kiss.
No, this is so wrong, its not even funny, Cordelia destroyed Angel – her character was as awful as Connor – the both of them dragged the show down – the peak of that show the first 2 seasons – now Angel and Buffy were great together
Sam and Diane are the classic “they finally get together” couple. A few more of my favorites are:
Harry & Christine (Night Court)
Tony & Angela (Whos’ the Boss)
Fran & Maxwell (The Nanny)
Niles & Daphne (Frasier)
These two are terrific! Ted Danson was the sh!t back then!
JD and Elliott on Scrubs – the first time. And the producer and anchor on Sports Night (forget their names) – their first kiss was incredible.
Naomi and Emily on “Skins”. A coming out so artfully and wonderfully written and performed with two brilliant young actresses — something you will NEVER find on American TV.
Jim and Pam don’t hold a single candle to Sam and Diane. So sweet that crappy wedding episode gave me diabetes.
I doubt there are very many people who despise the last ten episodes of Battlstar Galactica more than I do (though there are plenty who despise it just as much as I do) but I loved when Bill and Laura got together. But it wasn’t really a ‘finally!’ moment because they’d been quasi-together the entire time. They loved each other, it was just too strong a thing for either of them to push out into the open. And that was part of their appeal as a couple, they’d completely sucked at their past relationships and you got the feeling they were just terrified of screwing it up again.
