Iliked the episode overall, but I hated the Wedding Dance sequence at first. Luckily, they were doing funny things down the aisle, which made me lighten up about it a bit, but when they first started doing that tired-ass YouTube bit, I was stewing in disappointment and bemoaning that The Office had sunk to that. Their antics made it more palatable, though.
Still, I agree with the writer that the YouTube video is awful and tired, and I guess it doesn’t take much to be a national sensation these days. People can call me a jerk for saying that if they like.
but I saw it from Michael’s POV that HE thought the YouTube was so FANTASTIC he had to re create it for Jim & Pam …. only Michael would think it was most NON LAME thing ever!
I concur… Michael loves YouTube, of course he would think this was a brilliant idea…
And the payoff was when Jim said he’d bought the boat tickets the day he saw the youtube video (since with this crowd and their limited grasp of pop culture, the fact that it would end up a part of this wedding – in spite of Pam’s outright forbidding of it – was a no-brainer).
Exactly. Jim and Pam didn’t plan the dance entrance, others did it without their permission. Michael and the goony brothers highjacked the day and the rest of the Dunders piled on.
You are missing the point. Michael and Jim’s brothers would totally latch on to something on youtube. The fact that Jim anticipated makes it brilliant!
And I love the they were so self-absorbed, true to form, that the neglected to let Jim and Pam in on the plan.
You’re not a jerk, I agree with you 100%. I thought the YouTube video was dumb and couldn’t believe the attention they got for it. I was disappointed when they went there on last night’s episode.
I liked it but thought kelly would have a few choice lines
Well, she sorta did-I think Mindy co-wrote the episode, didn’t she?
The Office was PERFECTION last night! From start to finish, that single (hour long) episode encompassed absolutely everything we love about our friends at Dunder Mifflin. Starting with a great cold opening, for 60 minutes we had all anyone could ever ask for: Michael being cringe-inducing awkward, all the supporting characters in top form, and Jim and Pam showing why they are one of if not THE greatest couple in television history.
While even some of the most loyal of Office fans (including myself) have been down on the show for its inconsistency over the past two seasons, after watching Jim & Pam’s wedding and all the chaos surrounding it, we were reminded why we fell in love with this show in the first place. Not many shows can make you laugh out loud, and also have moments that make you want to cry all in a single episode. Thank you Office! And congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Halpert!
The “vomitorium” scene and Andy’s torn scr*tum pain face made me laugh so hard I went into labor
Did you name the baby “Meemaw”?
…Or Sylvio??
I love that Jim is turning into Michael Scott – keep it up Office writers! Other than that, besides the disgusting barf open, everyone was right on target – the Nard Dog, Oscar, Toby, Dwight – and I’m loving the Kelly/new Receptionist BFFship that’s happening.
The only thing missing was Darryl!
I agree. Where was Darryl?
Great Episode and “Forever” playing during the wedding montage was great. Makes me want to get married on boat in Niagara Falls.
Such a great episode! I cried during the final scenes with with song. Just like I cried with Youtube video. I really wish the writer of this column wouldn’t have brought their negativity into this article. I think it’s wonderful that two people in love can have fun with one of the greatest moments they will share. Take your bashing somewhere else!
So true. The original dance was fun and original. Everybody wants to have an unforgettable moment — especially on their wedding day — and their dance was certainly that. Is it goofy? Yes, and that’s what makes it so much fun. When you rag on this wonderful moment for these two people, you belittle the feelings that they have for each other.
Best.episode.ever. Thank you Office writers for keeping everything so fresh and fun. I believe I do live under a rock because I hadn’t seen the wedding video, but I watched it today and it’s adorable. How fun to have been a guest at that wedding! Great, great episode. Need to have a copy of this one.
PS: Shame on you EW for putting The Office in your “tv shows you’re breaking up with” gallery. Last night’s episode single-handedly proves you wrong and at the same time shuts up all the haters and turncoats of Office Nation.
Look out! Runaway turtle!
a turtle boiling kit, complete with the hammers to break the shells!!! LOL But when i saw the runaway turtle, LMAO!!!
Gee, Tanner struck a nerve w/some of you about that horrific you tube wedding. (Not sure how that’s “egotistical” but never mind.) Great ep–many great moments…2 more: erin & Kelly’s reaction to Michael sharing their room, and awaiting what frightening explanation Dwight had for having 9 3/4 horses. Yikes. Good point above re the disconnect on Pam’s mother, but no biggie.
maybe he has nine horses and three other quarter horses… one can only hope
He did explain the 3/4 horse. He came up with an idea to make hamburgers or sliders without killing the horse.
Too bad Sears passed.
I know–I meant as soon as you heard 9 3/4 quarters something horrific was going to follow.
The moment during Jim’s toast when Pam’s pregnancy was discovered, and the following moments when Michael tried to cover it up, were some of the most painfully awkward (and hilarious) moments in Office history.
My jaw just DROPPED when Jim spilled the beans. I love how he tried to cover for himself.
Because Pam’s… not pregnant… she’s an alcoholic… no, no she’s not…
GENIUS!! absoultely GENIUS!!
Great episode; adorable in nearly every way. The thing that cracks me up about this, is that on the web and all over my office, women everywhere are gushing about how much they want to marry a guy like Jim. News flash: there are tons of guys like him out there, but in the real world, they usually get overlooked. Women don’t go for the guy that has been “waiting for them for four years”. Hopefully this series can open people’s eyes–men and women alike–that the right person for someone isn’t necessarily the one who jumps out at the start.
I get the impession that Anon thinks he is just as cool as Jim.
Um…no. If there was a Jim Halpert in my life (with John Krasinski’s looks) I would most definitely not be overlooking him. What planet are you on?
This is bull. First, because Jims — sweet, funny, smart, thoughtful, caring — are few and far between, second, because most women DO date and marry nice, sweet, funny guys who are nice to them if / when they find them. The stupid stereotype about women only liking “bad boys” is a lie guys WITH NOTHING TO OFFER tell themselves to blame women who won’t settle for less.
HOLLA!
Interesting. My first and last husband waited four years before making his move, similar to Jim, acted like Jim, sweet and generous, thoughtful, etc. then threw me across the living room one month after getting married. Women don’t want bad boys nor do they want wolves in sheeps clothing. To see a romance like Jim and Pam’s brightens my day and reminds me not all men are cads. I just won’t date any of them.
Right on!!! I found my Jim, been with him for 8 years!! Married for 2.
How about Kevin cooling his feet in the ice machine?
