Yesterday, MTV released the trailer for their reality series with the recently deceased Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, Gone Too Far, which the network just announced they are going to air as planned beginning Monday at 10 p.m., despite the fact that precarious fact that he died of an accidental drug overdose himself less than two months ago. The series, as we here at EW previewed for you back in August after Goldstein died, is an eight-episode reality series that finds the DJ spending time with young addicts in an attempt to get them off their vices. You can view the trailer, which seems to only marginally exploit his death, here:
So, the question: Does this trailer make you want to watch? I’ve seen one episode, and I gotta be honest—I probably won’t watch any more than that. Not that what DJ AM did with this show wasn’t surely a good thing for those involved, but why must such a thing be on television? (I guess you could say that about a lot of things, though, like even my fave show The Real Housewives.) Maybe it does help other addicts out there to see how others pulled themselves out of their respective situations, but more than anything, it seems kind of embarrassing for the subjects. And maybe a tad exploitational? Why would anyone agree to have this part of their life filmed?
But, PopWatchers, what do you think about the show? Are you compelled by this trailer? Do you admire what DJ AM attempts to do with this series? Could this be a touchstone for addicts who are looking to sober up? Do you miss DJ AM in general?

I think this is going to be great. There are people out there especially family members of drug addicts, that are completly oblivious to what drugs do the effects the places and situations they put you in and just the effects before, during, and right after you do that drug.Coming from an ex user if my grandparents werent so oblivious to what their 18 year old grandaughter was REALLY doing and REALLY acting like then I do not think they would have EVER let me leave the house. This an eye opening thing to parents grandparents and ex drug users, this is what its like. This is how it looks. This is how it effects you. And this is what they really look like ON the drug. Then think about drugs again. Or where your child or grandchild is.
I just watched the preview for the show and it is the saddest thing ever. In a sense, I feel like this show is what killed Adam.In his quest to save others, he sacrificed his own sobriety. The man was sober for 11 years. I think being around that environment and being exposed to other addicts, was the last thing he needed in his life. Bless his heart for trying to help others and if this show can save just one life, his death won’t be in vain. Rest in peace Adam.
What a legacy to leave. What a brave soul he was. Rest in peace Adam.
I had never heard of this man until tonight. I just happened to watch the show “gone to far” I was so sad to learn he had died. My own daughter died 8 years ago from an accidental overdose. I think this man is trying to help people and the show should be aired in memory of him and so many others who are caught in addictions.
God Bless you Sandi, and I agree!!!!!
Well i have watched intervention and dj am, and that is not why i am interested. He is just another case, lost soul who is in hell now
but it is interesting to see them get out and why they began in da first place. I like to study them!
You have no idea weather he is in hell or not, and I am a christian!!!!! That is up to God, and he tells us do not judge, so shut your pie hole!!!!!
Stacie I’ve never read such an infuriating comment. You are one ignorant piece of ****. How in the world would you know if he’s in hell, you don’t even know him. To think millions of Christians genuinely believe DJ AM is in hell b/c of his drug overdose is downright infuriating
i don’t feel sorry for AM, he chose to not seek Help and there is plenty of help out there….
Well, if you had the same problem , I guess we shouldn’t feel sorry for you then huh???? It is an addiction, and he couldn’t help it, sadly most addicts don’t make it!!!!! You don’t have any idea what your talking about !!!!! Grow up!!!!!
Stacie, this is the 2nd most ignorant comment I’ve ever read. You have seriously NO IDEA what you’re talking about. He died b/c of an accidental overdose of pills that were prescribed to him for post traumatic stress after his plane crash. Yes, he was once a drug addict, but was sober for the past 11 years and has been a huge role model for drug addicts seeking help. So please, if you’re really that dumb, stop leaving the most ignorant comments the world has ever seen.
you are SUCH A FREAK!
you terrible ignorant little girl!
i AM a christian, and christians go through real life crap like drug addictions too. we’re not perfect. in fact christians arent any better than anyone else!
i have a really good feeling that he IS in heaven right now.
and Gods taking care of him, and he’s in a place thats so much indescribably better than this world!
& though its sad he’s not alive here anymore, im happy for him, that he’s with Jesus!!
dont give Christians such a bad name, by being such a mean person.
obviously you havent been through very much in your life, we’re humans and we dont always make the right choices, especially when we’re at a low point, but we’re not dammed to hell because of that.
get over yourself.
of course MTV will air this show…they have no morals. it’s really MTV that needs to die
It looks really good. What a sad ending for someone tryig to use their name and experiences to help others…
Some people are heartless!!!!
hey stacie above…i agree shut it.
Stacie, is a witch!!!!!!
This is the first I ever heard of him. Are they sure it was an OD or did some one OD him? Since he was sober for 11 years and trying to help others, who would he even try drugs again?
I meant to say WHY would he even try drugs again!
B/c it is easy to relapse!!!!!!
People relapse after 30 years it happen’s!!!!
If DJ/AM helped one person, God Bless him!!!!!!!!
I do not by any means mean to be disrespectful, and i give props to the man using his time, wealth, fame wisely and trying to help those so desperate in need but I find it kind of hypocritical of him to try to help these kids battle drug addiction while he lost his life to his. Again, I’m not trying to disrespect but..am I wrong to think that?
