I’d bet money that most of these people who say that 30 Rock is overrated haven’t even seen a full episode. I watch 30 Rock, The Office, HIMYM, and Big Bang, and 30 Rock is consistently the best week after week.

How can a show that has won the Emmy for best comedy three years in a row possibly be “overrated” or simply “ok”? I don’t get it.

hysterically funny and smart. anyone who is saying that it is overrated hasn’t watched more than one episode or isn’t too bright. this is just a fact. 30 rock rocks.

When you don’t “get” a show, it’s easy to call it overrated.

First off, the question of is it the best comedy is ridiculous. No one show is going to be loved by everyone, and for every fan of a show, there are several people shouting about how bad it is.

30 Rock is extremely funny, but it’s not for everyone.

And Tina Fey deserves every accolade she’s given for her work. She’s a brilliant writer and to call her overrated means you just know her from her Sarah Palin sketches on SNL.

i love 30 rock and i think that fey is a great writer. but she is not a good actress (she even admitted that she steals from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, when she won an Emmy). btw, JLD is the best comedic actress (followed, IMO by Tichina Arnold who play’s Chris’ mom on the recently cancelled “Everybody Hates Chris”) on TV. you cannot watch these two women deliver and then watch Fey and seriously tell me that Fey is better. JLD manages to lift a conventional comedy like “Christine” to moments of comedic brilliance every once in a while.

30 Rock is something you like or don’t like. I never got into Seinfeld but I was told it was the greatest thing ever.

Brian Williams is awesome on so many levels. Its nice to see someone who takes him self just seriously enough, but can also poke fun at it too.

I am so tired of hearing how great this show is. No wonder it’s ratings aren’t great, no one’s watching it just bending over to kiss it’s butt! Over rated. Be glad when it’s just over!

So sayeth the comment above yours. You don’t like it (even though you may have not seen it) but you’re “over it” because of the hype surrounding it.

I’ve seen a ton of 30 Rock episodes and I still think it’s HORRIBLE. The humor is lame and unoriginal. I don’t understand why critics love this show.

Always Sunny in Philly is ten million times better.

It is, by quite a longshot, the best sitcom on TV, and at least once in the past three year’s it’s been the best show on TV, period. There are other great sitcoms out there (Office, HIMYM) but nothing even comes within striking distance. I offer a classic Tracy Jordan-ism to those who call it “overrated”: “Are we in Horseville? Because I’m surrounded by naysayers. Wordplay!”

  • Raven_Moon

I love “30 Rock,” but I think I may love “The Office” more.

30 Rock is the pinnacle of sitcom! It has been solid for three seasons. *However,* this show is not for everyone. The humor can come off as crass and aloof.

30 Rock is the funniest show on TV right now…my husband and I both started to become disappointed in The Office last season (which is a shell of it’s season 2 brillance) and were elated that 30 Rock followed it for a quick pick me up.

But we, as TV viewers, are lucky enough to have a number of quality and genuinely funny comedies. And this comes from a person who has season passes for HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, the Office and 30 Rock. And Community, Modern Family and the Middle all look really promising.

  • Angie

HIMYM is the best sitcom on tv. No questions asked. I watched last night’s episode twice and I still LOL whenever I think of the picture of Robin asleep on the taxi. LOL!!

  • kim in kentucky

its good – but not great — very uneven – it does have lots of moments of brillance, but too many duds in between (and yes, Alec Baldwin is brillant!)

  • Owen

I LOVE “30 Rock”. But the best sitcom on TV is “The Office”.

  • Jen

Close. The only show CURRENTLY on TV funnier than 30 Rock is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The Office used to be awesome, but this season and the last one have been pretty terrible. I think this season, my top 5 would be rounded out with Parks & Rec, then The Office, and How I Met Your Mother.

  • Arden

Can’t believe of the number of people who say that “The Office” is better. That show’s been crap for two straight seasons…and even when it was at its peak it still wasn’t as good as “30 Rock”.
