The Bride’s back! Or, at least, will be back: Yesterday, Quentin Tarantino announced plans to helm Kill Bill Vol. 3, turning his popular bloody franchise into an official trilogy. Of course, there’s a catch—audiences will have to wait until about 2014 for the third film, as the director is hoping to space 10 years between the second Kill Bill film and his third.
It’s an interesting choice if you ask me. Coming off the heels of Inglourious Basterds, which has picked up enough dough in the box office to satisfy the Pillsbury mascot, Tarantino could pretty much do whatever he wanted. (Even, say, judge American Idol.) Yet he’s returning to an old faithful. I, however, am hopeful. After all, the guy’s smart. How else could you explain his decision to wait 10 years for the follow-up? Sure, he could start production on the third film now, but good things come to those who wait. Plus, who wouldn’t like to see a 44-year-old Uma Thurman slicing and dicing her way through the film with a Samurai sword?
Tell me, PopWatchers: Are you glad Tarantino is revisiting his Kill Bill franchise? Do you, like me, think more women of a certain age should be given kick-ass roles like this? And will the film be the same sans David Carradine?

It’s probably going to follow Vivica Fox’s daughter as she seeks revenge against the Bride for killing her momma.
I had heard Tarantino in a previous interview mention the possibility of that, so I’m not too surprised that this is happening, and I think you are going to be right. However, I thought he was gonna wait 20 years or so, but I’m so excited, the sooner the better I say.
This is great news. I imagine the delay is so that the girl who played Vivica Fox’s daughter can be old enough to seek revenge on Uma Thurman’s character. I think Tarantino previously mentioned in a interview that he wanted to do a sequel based on this girl. This would all be cool.
this is cool news!
I remember reading when Kill Bill first came out that Tarantino had an idea for a future Kill Bill movie where Vivica Fox’s character’s daughter in the movie grew up to exact revenge upon Beatrix for killing her mother. His idea was to film the girl early on and save the footage until she was old enough to star in the next film. More likely he’s just going to wait enough time for Uma to get older and the kid’s character to get older.
I can’t wait! The Kill Bill films remain two of the best films of this past decade. Uma can also face off against Elle Driver (although she has no eyes) and that French chick who’s missing an arm.
YES YES YES!!!! Even if we have to wait until 2014 to see it. I also always thought that if a sequel happened, it would be the daughter coming for revenge.
Can’t wait. But I hope I dont have to wait 5 years for any Tarantino movie, but i’m sure thats what i’ll have to do
I agree. I think they he will have Vivica Fox’s daughter seek revenge, especially after the comment that was made in vol. 2 before she left the house. I can’t wait for vol. 3… should be as great as the first 2!
No matter what it will be awesome – Why rush it.
I’m ambivalent. I loved KBI&II, but Bill’s, um, been killed. Maybe it just needs a different title if it’s going to focus on Fox’s daughter, it’s not like QT needs to pimp the “Kill Bill” title to get people into the theaters.
No.
Didn’t we talk about this yesterday?
I’m already shaking with anticipation.
There is only one word for this:
YES
Vernita Green’s daughter seeking revenge could be cool. But if Q doesn’t give U enough screen time because of it, then no way.
Wait… Has anybody mentioned that it’ll probably be about Vivica Fox’s daughter seeking revenge? Well then, that’s probably what it’s about. Your welcome.
Oh f**k yeah I’m ready!!!!!
