Now Jeff – only the OCCASIONAL hostless challenge! How about some shirtless host challenges? I mean if you are going to force the contestants to wear bathing suits not of their choosing?

Take heed CBS, don’t be getting any ideas. It ain’t Survivor without the Probster.

Love the dissertation on social dynamics. I am not so sure Shambo would have been the outcast amongst her actual peers. Her ability to get along with Foa Foa and her big heart does not bely a total outsider/outlander type. Ben on the other hand….

I was also impressed that Russell changed his vote–it gives me hope that some other people down the road will be able to get control of the game and keep that lunatic from winning. He’s entertaining for sure, but I don’t want him to win by being the biggest A-hole “Survivor” has ever seen. He makes Johnny Fairplay look like an altar boy.

Meanwhile, poor Shambo. I love her, but she does dig her own grave sometimes. I am not quite as shocked by her behavior when she visited Foa Foa, however. I mean, think about it: if she survives through the merge, the people on Foa Foa who are annoyed with each other will be splintering off to form new alliances and whatever with Galu people, and she might be able to join forces with someone from the other side. So from a “thinking ahead” perspective, she might have been spot on during her visit.

That tribal council was disturbing to be sure, but I was VERY impressed with Jaison (he’d been kind of annoying to be previously) and I thought he handled Ben very well. It’s sad that Ben doesn’t understand that being black doesn’t immediately equal living in a ghetto, but it’s not surprising given his background.

And lastly, condolences to all those lost in the earthquake/tsunami–many who were friends of you and your crew, I’m sure.

Thank you, Jaison, for your amazing, eloquent statements at tribal. I know you were deeply and personally injured by Ben — yet your words were powerful, well placed, and thoughtful. You attempted to explain it to Ben in his own language. Wow. I was blown away. Had I been there, I would have had your back the whole way. Even in a game, there is “too far” — and (although I believe perhaps he was totally ignorant of it) he crossed a line. Thank you for schooling him.

From a white sister (though history proves me undeserving of “sisterhood”),
    Peace
