Watch your back, “I believe in the church of baseball” speech from Bull Durham. I think I have a new favorite baseball clip, and this one’s real. Seattle Mariners’ commentator Mike Blowers predicted a home run from rookie Matt Tuiasosopo, and Tuiasosopo delivered — down to every last detail.
Yeah, that’s got to be the call of the year, right, PopWatchers?

Not a big sports person, but I do love me some unbridled joy and excitement, and I LOVED the commentator guy just going nuts while the other one just laaaaaaughed. That was adorable. And good for this Matt Tuiasosopo, whose name I had to copy and paste. I can’t help but add my own WOOOO!
Yeah I grinned all the way through it too
Plus I’m from Portland, the Mariners are the closest MJB team we’ve got!
Damn it! MLB team, sorry
this is why I love baseball!
And I do believe in and belong to the church of baseball
Now that’s awesome.
I want to ask that guy what the Powerball numbers are for Saturday’s drawing.
I just love imagining what that player felt like doing that. He was probably a little boy who dreamed he would do that someday and actually just made it happen. That’s awesome all around.
I hate to be a stickler, and correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Susan Sarandon say she believed in the church of baseball at the beginning of Bull, but Kevin Costner’s speech is different: “I believe there should be a rule outlawing astroturf and the designated hitter” etc.
Anyway, congratulations Matt!
Wow…just wow. Now THAT is why I love sports.
That, my friends, is baseball. God I love that sport.
I hate sports, but that totally made my day!
(Um, he didn’t hit the second deck.)
Details, details . . he hit it off the facade of the 2nd deck. Close enuff for me!
Wow. That was awesome! I am still laughing. Wow!
