Thank God you said it llane, I actually thought it was William Shatner in drag (as a joke), until I saw her name on imdb.

I nearly ruptured myself laughing when somebody told me that David Duchovny was the object of all female desire on this show (no, I never saw it and never will). I would, however, consider one casting change. Take Duchovny out and substitute Jerry Stiller. It would make the premise much more believable.
I love Californication. It´s the best TV show ever!
