AT&T's 'Lost Dog' commercial: Who cried?

It’s been awhile since we’ve checked in on Things That Make Us Cry. Presenting the latest cellular advertising weeper: How UNC Basketball Star Tyler Hansbrough Got Sarah Back.

I’m happy that the Power of the Network allowed the silly little girl who’s too young and naive to have her own cell phone to see her dog again, even if the overarching message of AT&T’s ad campaign seems to be “IN YOUR FACE, PAPER INDUSTRY.” I usually sprout a tiny, rather enjoyable tear at the end and have lately even interrupted my furious commercial fast-forwarding to watch it. That’s gross. Okay, now admit it. Who cried?

I did, dang it!! And I will cry when I see it again even though I know how it ends!! Dang dog commercials!

  • chrlyr

I did, too. They were happy tears, though. Unlike that ASPCA commercial with Sarah MacLachlan in it. I have to change the channel when that comes on.

OH MAN! I do the same thing when that ASPCA commercial comes on! I cry every time, and yes I did shed a few tears for the ATT commercial too.

OMG. That commercial gets me every time. Sniff.

Ah, so that was who that guy was, I guess I got choked up, but I really just wondered why the little girl was going around without her parents helping her!

  • Amy

    Weepy eyes for me too!

Me too I’m still traumatized from the little dog Echo in the Pedigree commercial last year. Everyone I told about it cried when they too saw it. They released a commercial later showing Echo getting a home. There must have been a lot of letters for poor Echo.

Ha! I was totally wondering last night if this would show up on Popwatch! Glad to see I’m not the only one to get a little emotional for this commercial. It’s very sweet.

    deffo cried.

Every stinkin’ time. I cry every stinkin’ time. Because Sarah the puppy is found. The look on the little girl’s face when she see’s Sarah is home. The fact that all those college aged people forwarded the message and kept looking. The happy look on the fella’s face when he gets to watch the reunion of the girl and her dog. I’m tearing up just remembering it.

you people are overly emotional saps. you should regulate your estrogen levels, they’re evidently too high.

    • whatevs

You could also regulate your self-esteem so that you won’t want to come onto a message board and insult dog lovers for having a heart so that you can feel better about yourself for being “too cool” to care. Congratulations.

      STHU.

    • Wow

What a macho man! You must have many girlfriends. Come out of the closet, stop being such a latent jackass, and grow a soul.

  • Sarah’s fan

God forbid we have some emotion or humanity and its attributed to estrogen levels. puh-lease, you’re a douche. As a mom, a dog lover, and an administrator at a midwestern college, I loved it. I cry every time!

    • Amy

      Touche! Suck it, puh-lease!

  • el

I’ve seen this about 3 times, and get a little weepy each time. Damn you AT&T!
(though I guess it is not super effective because I had to look back and see what company it was to write this comment!)

  • No Tears

Doesn’t make me cry. I just over analyze it. The guy that starts the chain-text isn’t the one that brings the dog back. It’s the guy who gets the original text and passes it on that returns the dog. Glory stealer!

  • kahuna

I almost cried. That is a great commercial.

I knew that guy who brings the dog back to little girl looked so familiar. I knew the guy wasn’t an actor, every time I saw the AD, I was like ” Gosh, that cute guy is so familiar”. Glad to know it is tyler Hansbrough. :)

I didn’t cry, but I did the ‘awww and touch my heart’ thing. I just got a new dog about a month ago so that commercial really got to me when I saw it the other day.
