Best Heroes storyline ever: Have Hiro go back in time and convince the network heads to cancel before season 2! While he’s at it, maybe he could save Pushing Daisies and Veronica Mars. Save the Private Eye! Save the World!
Sylar is so not scary anymore. All he can do is taunt Matt Parkman. Better be careful, or Sylar will YELL AT YOU!!!!! AHHHHH!
8) LOL. I agree with you that this Sylar in Parkman’s head thing is a mess. A complete mess. 8)
I agree with the review, BSG did it much better. Head 6 kicks Head Syler’s butt any day.
I agree with the unhappy viewers here – I gave up on Heroes after Season 1 and after reading this review, I am glad I did! If you want quality TV, check out Lost – it NEVER disappoints!
why waste your time commenting if you hate it so much is your life that empty
I was SO in love with Lost the first season. I tried season 2 and thought it got weird. I haven’t been back since. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.
I’ve always found Heroes to be underwhelming, but I always watched it because I DVR’d it for a friend who didn’t have TV the first season or so and I’ve just sort of stuck with it out of habit. I’m hoping the new folk make it interesting and they ditch Ali Larter (for good this time), kill Parkman and Suresh, and do something interesting for a change with Hiro (though I doubt that’ll happen). And then they get a kickass fighter in there like Ray Park (awesome) and they f-up both fighting scenes he’s had by making them way too short, hurried, and whatever because he’s “super fast.” Lame.
Whatever way the season goes, I’ll probably continue to watch it. Just on Hulu so I don’t have to listen to everyone else in my house complain about how slow it is (like they did tonight).
Loved season one. Edge of seat, watercooler episode each week. Then season one finale blew big time. Came back for season two. Time travel crap, esp. Hiro in feudal Japan, coupled with horrible Dora and Diego sister-brother duo made show unwatchable. Never saw a show decline so fast and never watched it again.
Didn’t even know Heroes premiered. Not that it would’ve mattered to me anyway even if I did knew since it was on at the same time as House’s 2 hour premiere. There was no way I was going to miss out on that show. And I was doubly pleased when I saw that Andre Braugher was a guest-s star. One of the most under-rated actors who was great on Homicide: Life on the Street.
I actually really liked this premier. I really felt entertained and intrigued enough to come back to find out what is going to happen next. I love that Peter got his groove back and did a great fight sequence, I loved the Carnivale storyline, and I really liked that there was not much Sylar in the show. I will admit I have been disappointed since the Season 1 finale and held on in hopes that the show would get better. Tonight’s premiere brought me back in and I will stick around.
Never again. The Nathan/Sylar ending from last season was both pathetic and irritating. Sometimes it’s best to bury the dead. Permanently.
this was a really good premiere, I’m going to ignore all the bad hype and just enjoy the show for what it is. It’s like a comic book onscreen, comic books suck sometimes and go off on tangents but are essentially about the characters and I like the characters on Heroes so I say to hell with the haters. I really enjoyed the premiere, it has me intrigued, I like the whole carnival theme and I like all the unfolding mysteries and storylines and I liked the fact taht Mohinder is doing those horrible voiceovers anymore, in fact, no more Mohinder would be awesome for me.
I so wanted to give up on heroes. But like you I invested 4 years into this show so I’m sticking with it. It’s funny that I thought the second season was bad when it was actually okay compared to the third. I agree with you about Peter, but I still wish he had all of his powers to balance the badness of Sylar. Loved Traci, and saw a lot off chemistry with Noah. Oh and you forgot to mention we got the Haitian back. Screamed when I saw him. Gotta love Samuel. Hope he turns out to be a good guy. Btw his power is to control earth. THe first few minutes gave that away. I geuss the girl is kinda like Isaac accept with tattoo ink. Ooh and the three main characters this season are obviously Peter, Claire and Sylar.
I liked the premiere and most likely will watch the entire season — I am one of those people who stuck with it since episode one. I really wish they would stop making Hiro the fool. The other problem with the show is that it always builds up to the end, and then it fizzles. They need to do something like the finale of Buffy with all the major players are involved in a blowout. Also I am glad Danko is dead.
Why oh WHY can’t they pull off action on this show? We need some epic action every once in a while in a show about super power folk. No one would watch Clark Kent being Clark Kent only for 4 seasons. He has to be superman and fight someone once in a while. When Heroes has a chance for big action it fails. Why have two giant fights happened behind closed doors? Its like they have no idea how to handle action that consists of more than a punch or throw.
I’ll give it a episode or two more, but unless they hire someone who knows how to proper action I think I might be out for good.
I really enjoyed the premiere. Claire is a lost cause, her story is always the same: move to new location and start over, but try ur best to hold onto old ways. I was shacking my head when she jumped out that window, cuz i knew she would been seen using her powers yet again.
Am i the only one LOVING Sylar being in Parkmenns head? As long as he doesnt eventually take over Matts body, ill keep digging his influence on Matt.
I had no interest in Sylar as Nathan so i didnt really enjoy it, although i didnt mind the lack of screen time for that plot. I hated them doing this but im trying to ignore it.
Aside from Claire and Sylar as Nathan being a waste of time, im loving (so far) the rest. I guess its easy to enjoy the show when you dont expect much, but theyre finally doing right by Peter. He might be Peter Parker-ish but im loving it. I hope they expand upon his obsession with the ppl he saves.
The longer Mohinder is gone the better. What a waste of a character.
Even though i thought Hiro and Ando were ok this episode i agree with the authors view of him. I dont expect much from him anymore (sigh, wish we at least had Future Hiro sometimes)since he is just comic relief.
Season 1 will nvr been even close to matched, u would think the writers could just look at it and try to at least emulate it, but i guess they nvr will.
I for one, will give this season’s premier an 8.75 out of 10. I may be alone in this, but I am disapointed to have not seen Mohinder. And it appears that his character has been abandoned altogether because he is no longer the narrator. I am not looking forward to another season of nearly naked clips of Ali Larter, just to appease those who are unable to control their hormones. I’m glad to see the pace slow down a little, especially compared to last season’s neckbreakingly shallow pace. It also looks like they’ll be able to move faster than season 2′s yawnfest. The carnival is a breath of fresh air! My suggestion, drop the hack Ali Larter, and focus more on a smaller core. Make the cast small enough to have an opening sequence. Make the scenery less elaborate, and the battle sequnces more extravegant.
That’s really not true that we’ve had three seasons of characters talking. Last season’s first half was all action, no character development whatsoever, and it was abysmal. All things considered, I found this very promising. The characters have lives, and they interact with people in the ‘real world’ who don’t have powers. We know enough that it’s not baffling, while little enough that we don’t know exactly what is going to happen. It wasn’t perfect, but Heroes was always deeply flawed. At least this season premiere was engaging.
