I watched a preview of tonight’s season premiere of House, and without giving anything away, I can say that it’s really, really good. Read the full post.

oh ER – Love’s Labor Lost — the one where Dr. Greene just can’t the baby delivered — it will wear you out!
OMG, I was pregnant with my daughter when this episode aired, and was only a few weeks from delivery. It’s one of the most memorable episodes of the show.
I love that episode as well. I just start crying everytime.
When I look back on ER, Love’s Labour Lost is the episode I always think of. It took me a week to shake that one off.
Sorry, but it is ALL about the “Blink” episode of Doctor Who. It’s got time travel, a narrative that forces you to stay on your toes, and scary as heck statues that move when you’re not looking at them. It is, hands down, the most psychologically terrifying thing ever seen on basic cable.
Alynda, I TOTALLY agree with you! “Blink” is definitely one of the best pieces of television ever.
Though, it doesn’t feature the Doctor very much, so as far as a Doctor Who episode that is more representative of the series as a whole, I would go with another Stephen Moffat penned episode, “The Girl in the Fireplace.” It expertly blended drama, comedy, action, romance, mystery – all key elements to the Doctor’s personality – as well as delivering a heartbreaking ending which gave key and rarely seen insight into the Doctor’s loneliness. Truly stellar.
I watched that episode of Doctor Who when everybody else in my family was in bed. I had to turn on the lights when I went upstairs to go to bed when it was over.
LOVED Blink. I have never been able to look at garden statuary the same since watching it!
Blink was awesome. I am so creeped out by stone angels now! So scary and trippy!
And Laura, I also agree on “The Girl in the Fireplace” – great episode.
Sorry, but The Office hit its stride at Christmas Party — way before Casino Night.
Lost – Episode 1. No other episode of the (way too much) tv I watch stays with me! It set up that amazing season and mind-blowing series. There are a few other episodes from other shows that stand out to me in this sense but none like Lost.
I have to agree on this one…I remember the first time I watched it; My jaw dropped seeing the quality of the effects, editing, and story — I thought, this is television?!?!?
I agree too. I love “Walkabout” and “The Constant”, but the amazing pilot episode of Lost is what had me completely hooked from the beginning.
Battlestar Galactica- Unfinished Business. Flashbacks interspersed with violent boxing bouts show us the hope and promise that New Caprica held for the crew- not to mention we finally learn what happened between Kara and Lee. The final scene, the two of them, bloodied, holding onto each other not only to simply remain standing but because they’ve missed each other desperately is gorgeous.
I agree with you completely! While reading through the comments I found myself agreeing with a lot of them, but I just had to comment on this one…this episode floored me when I first saw it, and I have watched it so many times now and it never ceases to amaze me…simply put one of the most moving television experiences I have ever had
I think why I loved this episode so much is that it was a purely character-driven episode. It worked on so many levels especially since it was the characters that made me love this show so much, especially Lee/Kara.
Battlestar Galactica “Kobol’s Last Gleaming: Part 1″ and “Kobol’s Last Gleaming: Part 2.” The show established itself amazingly during the introductory miniseries and the opening episode “33″ was spectacular, but when the show really became more than a spectacular premise was at the end of season 1, when the mythology really started to build, when things really went into motion, and the next three seasons were really grounded in. The first appearance of the iconic Opera House? One of the most stunning BSG moments ever.
HIMYM- The Pineapple Incident and Slap Bet
Lost-Walkabout, the first episode that showed what crazy twists we could come to expect, and The Constant which had the best emotional scene as well as transitioned the show into the time travel goodness it is today
Grey’s- Into You Like a Train was a great emotional episode that had Grey’s heart with a great medical case. Also the season 2 finale and the bomb episode
Angel- I will remember you and Hero
Pushing Daisies- the Pie-lette was a perfect showing of all of pushing daisies potential
Buffy-too many to choose, but I think Passion is a great episode that sets a darker tone for the show and shows how great it could be
“Pineapple Incident” is brilliant, I also love “Showdown from Season 2
er: When Night Meets Day (I just like the way Carter’s and Pratt’s shifts fit together since we so seldom got to see what happened to the patients who passed through the er)
x-files: post-modern prometheus, small potatoes, and clyde bruckman’s final repose
lost: I hope I feel as euphoric as the final credits roll on this wonderful series as I did after The Constant.
Law and Order: SVU- “Guilt”
-Stephanie March, Mariska Hargitay, and Chris Meloni were all completely awesome in this ep. The case was moving, we got to see probably one of the most emotionally raw scenes of the early days of SVU. To me, nothing they’ve come up with since has been quite as awesome.
30 Rock- “Black Tie”
- 5 Words: Isabella Rossellini attacks Tina Fey.
Bones- “Aliens in a Spaceship”
- Seeing the “squints” react when 2 of their own are in trouble, AND EDesch and TJ Thyne giving some of the best performances in the show’s run = an awesome episode.
House- “Joy”
- Lisa Edelstein absolutely rocks in this episode.
Gilmore Girls- “Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days”
- That opening scene. I’ve watched it so many times it’s memorized. The crazy Townies, LL love and Rory/Jess drama make an incredibly awesome episode.
For me, it was the GG ep with the all-night dance contest. Dean breaks it off with Rory and the Jess era begins. Great plot development in a really fun themed-episode.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer “Angel”– Buffy discovers that Angel is a vampire.
Gilmore Girls “Rory’s Dance” This is the episode that really showed Lauren Graham’s range and solidified the relationships between Rory/Lorelei/Emily
The X-Files “Squeeze” Love the mythology, but standalone episodes like this helped make this show interesting.
Bones “Aliens in a Spaceship” Really helped cement the B/B relationship.
Lost “Walkabout” Changed the show from a survival story to something much more mysterious.
“24″, Season 3 when Jack murders his boss Ryan Chappelle in cold blood to appease the villain Saunders. I was just starting to really get into “24″, this episode made my jaw drop. I became a big Jack fan after that show, I mean what won’t that guy do for his country??
I agree. That ending is chilling.
Completely agree with “Three Stories” for House – I had the same reaction.
Seinfeld – which one??? The Strike? The Contest? The Marine Biologist? Too many good ones…
Agree with The Office – Casino Night is the best.
Arrested Development – Pier Pressure
Friends – The One with the Embryos
30 Rock – Fireworks
Psych – American Duos
Everybody Loves Raymond – Baggage
How I Met Your Mother – Slap Bet
The Simpsons – The Springfield Files
Wings – Sports and Leisure
The Cosby Show – Happy Anniversary
M*A*S*H, “Sometimes You Hear the Bullet” when the show took a giant step away from a generic service comedy and into a unique blend of drama and comedy
Friends, “The One With All the Poker”–for me, this is when the cast and the writers really hit their stride
Star Trek TNG, “11001001″–not the best episode, but it’s the first one where the show quit following in Gene Roddenberry’s footsteps and started staking out its own ground
True, but I’d have to go for “Yesterday’s Enterprise” for ST:TNG
“Hush.”–Buffy the Vampire Slayer
“The Measure of a Man”–the first good STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION EPISODE.
“Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.”–The Twilight Zone. C’mon, who can forget that monster on the wing of the plane?
Finally, someone else who says Hush as the Time Capsule episode of Buffy.
