Clip du jour: 'Regrets: Dave Matthews Band'

Regrets? We all have a few: the one that got away, not investing better, and… uh, staying dedicated to Dave Matthews Band past your early 20s. Heh. “Who wants to get into a new band now?” (Warning: The video contains some naughty language.)

Funny, PopWatchers? Or funny cause it’s true?

I’m a 30 something year old BLACK dude and I feel the same way. Why, dear god why, have I been listening to this band for so long now? A white cat from middle school put me on to DMB and it’s been a wrap ever since. I’m not going to follow The Fray or Coldplay around, who are actually good bands, or The Roots who have always been dope. I grew up in the city listening to Eric B and Rakim and Public Enemy, what is it about DMB that is so attractive? From Foxboro to Red Rocks, I find myself lost in a sea of suburbanites, but somehow I don’t stand out. Why is that? I’ve spent unprecedented amounts of money on concert tickets and albums, some of which are just the same old songs with longer, snazzier intros. It’s ridiculous, when I’m listening to a CD, yes a CD, and the live version of Ants Marching comes on, I look forward to that one part where the audience sings: “People in every direction…” Why? I blame you, Jay Small. I blame you and that tiny bag of shrubbery for this apparent lifelong commitment.
    Jeez…

Your self-loathing must run so deep. Y I hope you find the strength to break free. You’re worth more than that, man! Save yourself!

Yes… SOOOO funny, and yes…. SOOOO true!!

Yeah going to two shows and having them do 40 minute versions of songs that were only from their first album that no one ever bought pretty much killed their concerts for me. I do have a theory that people who “follow” them around are people who are so high at every show they have no idea that they’ve seen them before.

Lol, funny. Although I feel the opposite way. I was gonna give up on them… then I heard the new album, and it’s dope!

This is hilarious because all the “Regrets” are ingenius.

Hmmm, well I certainly have no regrets about loving DMB. They are all truly great artists. I’ve only been to one concert but I loved every second of it. Well, I could have done without the drunks but the music and jams were amazing.

So great…after 28 shows in 8 cities over the past 11 years (and I’m 30 years old), I can appreciate this so much. As much as I love me some DMB, I still have moments like this. LOL…best video. @Vel- well said, well said. :)

Haha! This is spot on. Luckily, I saw the light after my first concert in high school. I was sitting on the lawn with my friends, and it was late and most of the people around me were passed out drunk or barfing, and I just thought, you know, this 20 minute fiddle solo is boring and I don’t like this band. Soooo glad that I picked Pearl Jam as my music obsession.
