Kanye-gate: Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Kathy Griffin weigh in

It’s been almost a week since Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at last Sunday’s VMAs, but the blogosphere is still buzzing about the incident. EW.com chatted with the stars at last night’s VH1 Divas show held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, and here’s what they had to say about the whole shebang:

Sheryl Crow: “I have no idea why [people] are still talking about it. It’s so come and gone.”

Miley Cyrus: “I heard about it from Taylor. When you do things for shock value, that’s what you want — people to keep talking about it. But I thought it was disrespectful and I don’t think I would’ve handled it as well as she did.”

Kathy Griffin:“My favorite thing is that the president has weighed in by calling him a ‘jackass.’ So I hope that Kanye keeps stirring up the pot so the president can make more fun comments on the mic.”

So there you have it, straight from the red carpet. Do you guys agree? Are you ready to move on or do you still have a bone to pick with Mr. West?

Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, and Kathy Griffin? Does ANYONE really care what these three think, about ANYTHING???! It is time to move on from this anyway. Kanye apologized profusely; let us move on to the next celebrity scandal, shall we?

    • idiot

Kanye is an idiot. His apologies were hollow. The only reason he apologized is because of the backlash. I hope his record sales drop significantly.

      • Tony

Kanye’s done! Sorry pal, start looking into a career change.

    • Angus E. Parvo

Kanye did NOT apologize, profusely or otherwise. At least not publicly. He sat there with Leno and mumbled a bunch of nonsense about working a lot. Hey Kanye, most people handle having a job without being the Biggest Douche in the Universe.

    • Vanessa

..Apparently YOU did–otherwise you wouldnt even have bothered to post here.

  • LT

If you are over it why do you keep asking celebrities about their thoughts on it? Stop giving Kanye any more publicity.

    • KC

Why isn’t anyone seeing this as the publicity stunt it was for Kanye & JayZ on Leno’s premier the following night! Gave Leno the perfect opportunity to say “what the hell were you thinking” (again!) in the hopes of gaining ratings……..

    • Kellyann

      I agree with you.

      • Matt

That’s preciiiiiiiisely what I thought as soon as I heard he was going on the Jay Leno Show (on its debut night – HELLo).

  • Sally in Chicago

    This story needs to die.

  • Lola

You say that you’re over it, yet you’re giving it more attention with yet another update.

  • Max Hesh

I’m Glad it happened b/c b/f this everybody was treating this mental midget with kid gloves; going all PC with every retarded comment he made

Taylor handled it well? She stood there like a deer in headlights. I’m not blaming her, but a more seasoned performer would have handled it in stride.

    • Adeptus

Get over yourself! Taylor is what, 17-years-old? So she could have become a *seasoned* performer how? Yeah. She handled it well.

      • Ace

I believe she is 19. And seriously, what was she supposed to do? Tackle him and steal the mic? And really he didn’t talk that long, she had no idea what was coming.

  • Dee

I agree with what Jay-Z said…its not like he killed anybody…or like what I say…at least he didnt beat up his girlfriend…yea it was rude but I honestly feel bad for him, like no matter what you do, if you are famous, one wrong step and your tarnished for life… no one is perfect, dont we all get to make mistakes? I know I sure do, best thing is to learn and go on.

    • Ash Bash

I totally agree with you. It’s amazing how people pass judgments on silly things like this. It happened. He apologized; she accepted. Let’s move on. How about we figure out how to fix this economy instead of whining about this story?

    • Ayden

That might fly… if he didn’t keep making the same pathetic mistake over and over again.

    • sean

But he never seems to learn from it, this is not the first time he has done something like this and I doubt it will be the last. can you imagine how he would of reacted if someone did that to him.

    • Kate

This is another mistake in a long, long list of mistakes. I am so tired of him and his giant ego.

    • G-Mom

Oh PLEASE!!! He’s the biggest jerk in the world!!! He does arrogant, rude stuff all the time!! I’m not surprised he did this – I’m just surprised people like you try to excuse/want to let him off the hook for what he does!! Even the President thinks he a jackass! HE IS!!!

    • Matt

Learn and move on? We’re talkin about Kanye here, the doofus will never learn. We should put him away with the Milli Vanillis and Vanilla Ices of yesterday’s past.

  • Kisha

I am beyond over it .This morning a local Tampa Bay area radio station had a interview with Taylor Swift she is over it . The host several times questioned her about it and she refused to answer anything about it she said she is moving on and we all should .

  • crispy

Everyone is over it… except Entertainment Weekly.

  • Carol

Taylor is young and did the best she could in an unexpected situation. Kanye you are like the big bully who beats up a girl on the playground. Everyone knows that you don’t like white people. I hope your career continues to go in the toilet where it belongs.

    • Kellyann

Can’t we all just get along. Please stop trying to stir up hate.

    • Taylorfan

To Carol. Here you go again. Taylor would be ashamed to know people like you are out here in her name trying to cause problems. She has money and fame. What are you getting out of it?

    • Amy

Can you give the racist rant a rest. Get involved in something positive. There is so much good you can do in the world if you decided to. That is up to you. I hope you will really try to think about that.

  • Misha

Obviously, Ew, you don’t know how to keep your website relevant. Leave KANYE alone!
And I definitely hope that someone (Kiefer Sutherland or whoever) will pull a “Kanye” if Hugh Laurie doesn’t take the Emmy next sunday!

    • Al

Do they have an open portable bar at the Emmy’s? If they do, I think they might want to think twice about booze-swilling celebrities being allow into the ceremony.

      • PJ

If they have an open bar nobody talks about it but Kanye was walking the red carpet with a bottle of Hennessey’s and drinking out of it and sharing it with other people, including Joe Jackson! Why didn’t a guard take it away from him – probably because they were afraid of him.

  • Tiffany

Jay-Z, Kanye are THUGS that need publicity like this to sell the lame rap songs. Pathetic. Obama was right and no one can dispute that.

    • jerzeegyrl

      UR LAME!!!

    • Nicole

How did Jay-Z get thrown into the mix? And why do you consider them thugs?

    • Moe

Exactly! Couldn’t of said it better myself. Ignore the idiots on this board that don’t agree.

  • Gate THIS!

Whoever came up with that headline should be waterboarded into the next century…STOP IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amy

Kanye-gate?! Really?! Thank God we can discuss the real issues since we have no war going on overseas, unemployment epidemic or over half of America in poverty.

    • veronica

Do you really expect EW to have big discussions regarding war, unemployment, and poverty? This is an entertainment magazine. It’s right there in the title that this is not that deep.

    • Al

You need to go to a different web site to hear about that my dear, google search those topics cuz you’re not gonna hear it here.
