NBC comedies make our Must List. What's on yours?

Summer 2009 is rapidly drawing to a close, and it’s okay to admit we’re all a little depressed. But there’s hope….The TV gods know the suffering that comes from this seasonal ending and, in their infinite benevolence, bestow on us every fall some measure of relief: new scripted programming! One of the better lineups, NBC’s slate of Thursday sitcoms, returns this week with new episodes of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and newcomer Community. Check here Friday morning for our recaps!

What’s on YOUR Must List this week? List up to three items from current TV/movies/music/books/games/online. And be sure to explain WHY you’ve made your selection, too — we love to hear your thoughts! Don’t forget your e-mail address, in case we decide to use your submission in the magazine. Deadline is Thursday, Sept. 17 at noon ET.

On my must list: The Resistance – Muse’s new release. Simply musical genius!

Glee! – so fresh and funny, it might just fill the hole that was left by the cancellation of Pushing Daisies.

I cannot wait until the Office returns. I was in Rome last week and I was confused because Michael was played by an a$$hole and Dwight was also played by an a$$hole so I was like, hmmm, but then when Pam was also played by an a$$hole, I knew something was up. Turns out I was watching the Orifice.

    • Rock Golf

you know, if that wasn’t so funny, I’d report it.

BONES is on my must list. So excited!

Modern Family- the promos alone are hilarious and I can’t wait to see the entire show.

The finale of Big Brother- because I never have to listen to Natalie’s voice ever again

Flash Forward- I saw a sneak peek of the premiere and the fact that there is an Oceanic billboard in the background makes me excited for the rest of the series!

I saw a sneak peek of Modern Family, and it was fantastic!

Muse Muse Muse Muse Muse! It’s a rock album that ends with a 3-movement symphony… how can it not be on the must list this week?

I can’t wait to see Where the Wild Things Are. Hurry up October! Also, when is 30 Rock back?

    • DawnM

      Oct. 15.

    • Mark

It’s back the day before Wild Things, October 15th. Here is the plan: Watch 30 Rock, have some supper and then go the Midnight showing. Yay, October!!!

Thursday night period. Got my funny on NBC and got my procedurals on Fox. It will be a late night for me when I go back and watch the ones I recorded.

TV: Bones, Glee, Modern Family (reason: the clever factor of each)

Movies: Up in the Air, 9, Extract (reasons: george clooney, the fact that it looks so great…aesthetically, jason bateman + kristin wiig)

Music: best tracks – Little Boots – Remedy, La Roux – Bulletproof, Calvin Harris – Ready for the Weekend (Reason: they make me want to dannnce)

Must List: stuff-you-probably- havent-seen-in-15 years (or more) but-should-pick-up-on-DVD-for-nostalgia’s-sake Edition: Moonlighting, Star Trek: TNG, The X-Files (reason: awesomeness)

I’m curious about Community (am I the only one)?

  • Lillie

    Can’t wait for The Office!

  • Carolyn

harry connick junior’s new album is days away. i previewed the new songs online and they’re all standards but his musicianship is heavenly and the orchestra he sings with sounds stunning. he’s not bad on the eyes, either…

as a world traveler AND huge talking heads fan i vote for “bicycle diaries” by david byrne who writes about getting to know cities around the world from the vantage point of riding his bike. david byrne always seems to have his finger on the pulse of what’s worth thinking about, in this case, i think it’s traveling around fossil-fuel-free!

Honestly, I’m excited about NBC’s Thursday night, but it won’t be on my Must List until 30 Rock comes back. I understand why NBC did it last year, but why do they keep delaying that show? Funniest thing on TV, Emmy-winner, yet won’t debut until the middle of October.

    • fancypants

they want to give ‘community’ a chance to debut b4 30 rock comes back.
