Thanks for the videos of those dance moments — I’d not seen the ones with his wife. They were beautiful. I have a lot of favorite movies, but Dirty Dancing is the only one that I bought the DVD of YEARS ago to watch with my daughters when they are old enough (which they almost are). And I know tons of women who can’t wait to share it with their daughters too. Very few movies have that kind of power.

Also, I agree that Ken’s an ass.

I love DIRTY DANCING. I loved Jennifer Grey & Patrick Swayze’s chemistry [hadn't known about their initial dislike per RED DAWN until Patrick mentioned it in an interview; glad they discussed their differences because they had tremendous chemistry during DIRTY DANCING]always liked how Patrick loved his wife & family, loved to work & seemed like a gentleman. I will miss Patrick. Glad I have DIRTY DANCING to watch when I have a yen for something beautiful. I loved his dancing…he was so graceful. I will miss you, Patrick!

It’s not surprising that the LA Times has great writers, and–being so close to Hollywood–maybe the best film critics around. This piece appeared a couple of days ago, and includes the original film review for “Dirty Dancing” written 22 years ago. It’s very long, but definitely worth reading http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedailymirror/2009/09/voices-patrick-swayze-1952-2009.html

People…I am not a big fan of Patric Swayze..neither have i watched many of his films…but I agree with all here who thinkly highly of the absence of Ken’s brain. …….But the point is..this forum is for people to revere in Patric Swayze’s memory… and not waste so much time in honouring a jerk with nasty comments….

so just leave the misfortunate alone….discuss Patric Swayze only…

I am from India and way back in 1990 had seen dirty dancing . And it touched my heart. And after so many years- I saw it again and again and second movie which touches my sould was GHOST.

See Ken ! you have been little off mark..grades do not matter and it seems you rate actors or persona by rating or say popularity index. Some people are beyond this scale- I do not belong to the culture which ENglish movies shows..but I understand the story, what is being shown and how well someone has done. NO doubt…he touches my heart and I am very sad for his demise. May he rest in peace and I am sure he will because billion hearts remembers him. Pain is not for you and me to feel for his departure- this is for his wife and kids.

Your post went little offbeat…let’s be little compassionate…he was a great actor. And this is an art…dancing is also an art…I do not dance and I feel lack of it.

My kids and I enjoy his movies. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, not fake.

There is so much we can learn from the way the man danced. I am a speech coach and just posted about this in my speaking advice blog – sarahgershman.blogspot.com. He is tremendous focus – which I believe is key to what makes his dancing so sensual and riveting.

He left us too soon but each of us is here the time we choose to learn the things we agreed to learn before we came. He was a very spiritual man. His inner love shine brightly. He had a deep love of animals and the earth. When he died he made transition very fast. When I sent him energy he was so amazed that so many people loved him. It awed him for all the love that came to him after he died. He made his life here on earth worth something. He will be missed. Our love goes out to his wife and the rest of his family. If everyone could just get in touch with what they are supposed to do her and spread the love. That is all there is-love.

Thanks- for saying so good things about a man who lived , worked hard and had his good and bad times like everyone of us. I am from India- and I think that a man who touches billion of hearts can not be A,B,C,D…this is sign of a great soul…should be remembered and cherished.
