Ellen? Puh-leese. I vote Jennifer Rade for 'Idol' judge!

Jennifer-Rade_lForget Ellen. I vote Jennifer Rade for new American Idol judge! I know, I know. I have to accept the fact that a comedienne that I love is now set to infiltrate the judges panel, and possibly do as poor a job as she did on So You Think You Can Dance and is likely there to stay. But after watching last night’s Project Runway, I couldn’t help but fall for Rade. Seriously, Idol: You want a voice for the people? Razor-sharp Rade is a costume designer who says what we’re all thinking (to model/client Valerie, who said she was pleased with Qristyl’s dress: “That’s why Valerie’s not a designer. Right?”), but still isn’t afraid to put her Paula Abdul hat on and compliment the downtrodden (to Logan: “You’re really cute and I like your pants and your sneakers!”)?

Plus, the lady has worked with the likes of Marilyn Manson and Amy Winehouse, so she’s at least familiar with musicians. Not to mention people who are difficult to work with (Simon, ahem).

Who else dug Rade last night?

Anybody will be better than Ellen Degenerus. Not that I care all that much, Idol lost it’s appeal a loooong time ago.

  • Maria

    Hated her! What a witch.

here’s a novel thought – how about inviting back all the old Idol whiners (sorry winners) and the runner ups to be judges by region and have a lottery to determine who gets the used chair that Paula use to sit in – yeah that will work – or NOT – either way – I WILL NOT BE WATCHING

I AGREE 100%. Rade was the best thing about the judging panel. Love!

Ugh I couldn’t stand her. I didn’t think she came off as witty at all, she came off as a rude guest, full of herself and out of line. Witless and unpleasant.

Rade might be a TAD too bitchtastic for Idol. I’m all for a good jaw-dropping put-down, but that’s not the Idol way. (Don’t forget, the Idol audience is broader than gay men and the women who love them.)

I liked her. But I did miss Nina.

Ellen has great taste in all things. But can she control that caustic wit?

I thought Rade was unnecessarily rude and mean. I don’t have an appreciation for that sort of judge. One Simon is enough. Not that I want someone as witless as Paula, but surely it can’t be that hard to find people who are competent and at least semi-polite.

I totally agree!! I dug her 100%. I hope she at least makes a return appearance on Project Runway.

  • Kelley

I thought she was mean spirited and full of herself. The comment she made about the model being a designer was unnecessary.

Ellen has no music experience. Paula, Kara, Randy, Simon all do. Ellen shouldnt be a judge.
I’ll watch the 1st 3 ep in January to laugh then I’ll stop wathcing. Idol sucks now.

  • June

You know what I vote? No American Idol at all!

    • kelsey

      I’m with you, June.

I love the show Just take the show for what it is. Man people love to complain and not get their way.

  • Sina

I LOVED her! I am so glad for the blog. Since Michael Kors hasn’t been around, we haven’t really gotten an honest opinion of the clothes except from Nina. So to have a judge who actually said things that made sense and told the truth was refreshing. She needs to be the third judge peroid. They should just do away with guest judges and put her on there. American Idol will fail after this season. Not even Simon can save it from the horrible jokes of Ellen and her stupid stuttering problem she has before she tells a “joke”
