The upcoming Toy Story 3 has had Pixar fans foaming at the mouth for ages and ages, and finally, we’ve got some solid details: The film, which starts with Andy leaving for college and deciding which toys to pack up (“Sunrise, Sunset” is now playing in my head), follows our plaything heroes as they’re “sent to a daycare center, where they are horribly abused by the little kids — and after that it’s time for a break-out attempt to find a safe haven, and hopefully a new owner, in a cruel world,” according to Empire. “It looks every bit as good as its titanic predecessors.”
The other big Toy Story news is that Woody and Buzz are getting yet another new buddy: Mr. Pricklepants, voiced by Timothy Dalton. Mr. Pricklepants — which, best name ever — is “a hedgehog toy with thespian tendencies.” Something tells me this is going to inspire some serious tattoos from the fandom. [Disney did not reply to EW's request for confirmation and additional details.]
PopWatchers, I can’t wait for TS3, so any news sounds like good news to me. Are you prickly about Dalton’s addition, or are you on board?

Best. News. EVER!
I can’t wait for this movie!
Ha ha, the daycare center idea sounds absolutely INSPIRED. Can’t wait to see this.
Where’s The Incredibles 2?
GREAT! I hope infuse a comedic, goofy side, into the proper thesp demeanor. Wonderful news!
I thought for sure that Andy would be taking the toys to summer camp and we would get to see them interact with nature and the critters of the forest. Oh well. Daycare sounds interesting too.
ooh thats a good idea.
totally agree!
I’m burned out on Toy Story, frankly, given that “Monsters, Inc.” and “Bolt” were cut so close to the TS cloth that they might as well have been TS3 and TS4 respectively, which makes this “Toy Story 5″ by my count. Also, this plot sounds highly reminiscent of “The Brave Little Toaster”, a animated labor of love from back when nobody loved animated movies.
This was exactly my thought. If the toys find their new home in Andy’s dorm room at college, then I will cry “Brave Little Toaster!” right there in the theater! Yes, it’s toys rather than an electric blanket (adorable!) and a lamp, but…
Interesting since a lot of Pixar guys worked on The Brave Little Toaster.
I cannot wait for this movie although it is a little bittersweet without Jim Varney.
Who will replace Slinky?
There’s not a need to replace Slinky anymore. His character is thrown into a recycling bin at the beginning of the movie and he’s turned into plastic pellets.
Shocking. Positively shocking. (Awesome! Welcome to the family, Commander Bond.)
That was Sean Connery’s quote. Not Timothy Dalton
I can’t wait to see the movie, even thought it does sound like THe Brave Little Toaster.
Timothy Dalton was the BEST Bond after the legendary Sean Connery. Superior to Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
Wow.
Are you high?
Dalton was underrated. He was definitely closer to Fleming’s original notion for Bond than either Moore or Brosnan.
Good news??? This is great news. Anything about a pixar movie is great. If Pixar made Transformers 3 it would still be awesome news!
glad i’m not the only one that would’ve cried “The Brave Little Toaster.”
Has it already been said that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are coming back? Timothy Dalton sounds great; love the name Pricklepants.
I have loved the past two “Toy Story” movies so I am eager to see the third. When is it scheduled to be released?
When are they going to make the sequel to this summer’s best movie?
“Up 2 the Stars
(get it? cuz therez a two in the title?
)”
I’m sure Pixar will turn this idea into gold, but is anyone else a little disappointed that this storyline was pretty much telegraphed in the last movie?
I’m on board with anything that concerns “Toy Story 3!” I’m eagerly anticipating its release next summer, along with the final two “Harry Potter” installments later that year and in 2011, respectively.
I love the TS movies, all Pixar movies and Tom Hanks. But why would Andy take his toys to college? I took some beanie babies w/ me, but only b/c they’re nice to have around, not to play with! Anyway I’m sure the plot will be excellent.
the synopsis i guess could mean he’s packing them up, and they’ll be sent to a daycare, but why would he just be packing them up right b4 college? he would’ve done it when he was 13 or something. i’m putting too much thought into this.
Toy Story 4: Welcome to the Landfill!
AHHH Timothy Dalton! Such an underrated Bond. I was already massively excited for TS3, but this certainly doesn’t hurt!
Granted, i remember his Bond (he was OK, no Connery, no Craig either) but i identify Timothy most as Neville Sinclaire, the bad guy from The Rocketeer!
Can’t wait to see Toy Story 3. Timothy Dalton is a great underrated actor. He makes each character that he plays memorable.
Can’t wait to see Toy Story 3. Timothy Dalton is absolutely great. He plays every role with such enthusiasm..
i was hoping since woody got round up pals buzz would get space pals from his disney original show
I think he’ll be a great addition to TS3. I began watching James Bond films because of him.
Yeah! TS3 – I can’t wait. And don’t forget in October we get TS1/2 in 3D!!!
I remember seeing the first Toy Story film in theatres as a kid and I fell in love. It’s still in my top 3 favorite Pixar films. I can’t wait to see Timothy Dalton hamming it up as Mr. Pricklepants. That is going to be PRICELESS.
OK, I fully realize that I am in the minority when I say that Timothy Dalton rocked as James Bond, so of course I welcome him to TS3!
Toy Story fans are in for a treat with the addition of Tim Dalton. He could read the Congressional Record and make it sizzle. A lot of people are reevaluating his Bond movies. He and Sean Connery share the top.
