'90210' exclusive: Check out the new opening credits!

Categories: 90210, Television

Rebecca Sinclair, executive producer of 90210, wasn’t kidding when she recently told me I’d notice major changes right from the opening seconds of tonight’s season-two premiere. Clearly, she was talking about the show’s new opening credits, which we’re streaming exclusively below. Granted, there will never be a 90210 title sequence as wonderful cheesy as when Dylan McKay raised his eyebrow or Brandon pumped his fist, but the new images and themesong, recorded by indie Los Angeles musicians, are definitely an improvement over last season’s. Plus, they lead into tonight’s awesome episode (be sure to read my A- review). What do you think of the new credits? And are you excited for the return of 90210?

Jessica Shaw: “definitely an improvement over last season’s” … ? … ? … Are you on payola or just disturbed? I think everyone agrees that was a steaming pile of i-Movie crap. Please don’t encourage the producers. Bring back the guitar licks!!! I get what they tried to do, but that DID NOT WORK. AT ALL. EPIC FAIL. EPIC. FAIL. Ewww.

JESSICA SHAW ARE YOU ON PAYOLA YOUNG LADY? That was a steaming pile of ****. Judging by the comments, all the cool kids agree.

We get the new direction, we’re expecting it, we can’t wait for it… BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR BAD MUSIC. Where are those signature guitar licks? What will happen to the triggering of the bass guitar before commercial breaks? That was off the chain!
90210 in the sand? That cut the cheese!
Producers need to fix this A.S.A.P. These credits are the equivalent to Felicity cutting her hair.

EPIC FAIL. EPIC. FAIL. Ewwwwww. Disgusting.

        I completely agree

Reminds me of when “Veronica Mars” changed their credits. I hated it at first, but then after a while, it grew on me. But hey, at least this show HAS a credit sequence. “Gossip Girl” has none.

The music’s speeded up tyo the point where it reminds me of Devo’s “Whip It”. (It’s not too late. To whip it. Whip it good!)

  • Alicia

That is NOT cool. Where’s the rest of the iconic song?

I’m on the fence about this one!! I think they should have stuck with the theme of actually showing the actors in the title sequence. And hopefully the new indie recording will work better with the 2nd season starting off at the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Guess we’ll have to wait and see…

  • Sara

That was awful. I like to see the cast in the opening credits.

    • Holly

      Exactly. This is terrible.

  • Peter

An obvious influence for this revamped version of the theme song is the BBC’s Skins. The result is horrendous though. There’s nothing “indie” about it.

    • katie

That’s the first thing I thought of as well

    • Craigeh

Skins was channel 4, not BBC. And it was at least a nice song, I really don’t see why they changed the music to 90210.

  • Dominick

    Lame. Fail.

  • Alyssa

Rebecca Sinclair is just digging her own grave…

  • Mily

That was horrible! horrific! how could EW actually like that OC, where’s my fist pumps, where’s the, JFC last year’s was better!

  • Ashlie

WTF! WORST show title sequence ever! WTH was she thinking?

  • Dave

    um, that blows

  • a

Well that was a let down… they need to return to the 90210 roots

  • Stuart

Crap. Pure crap. Not only does it continue the trend of non-existent openings, but the music to played horribly and the visuals are meaningless. Somehow, it seems to fit Sinclair’s “vision” of the show, which was apparent at the end of last season. I expect the ratings to drop.

  • Conor

I really like it as I love electronic Dance music, but it kind of wimps out at the end, but u do miss the very iconic electric guitars opening bars!

  • Adam

Really sucky. I miss old-style credits when they lasted longer than 15 seconds and had shots of the cast. Plus, this new theme reminds me too much of Rescue Me’s theme song, the opening couple of bars.
