Levi Johnston talks: 'Me and Mrs. Palin'

In the upcoming October issue of Vanity Fair, 19-year-old Levi Johnston, the most famed-for-mere-sperminating figure in pop culture since K.Fed, poses glamorously — and drops some Wasilla bombs on his baby’s grandma, former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin.

Among his quotables? That Sarah “walked around the house pouting” after her loss; that “there wasn’t much parenting in [the Palins'] house. Sarah doesn’t cook, Todd doesn’t cook—the kids would do it all themselves: cook, clean, do the laundry, and get ready for school.” And that Sarah repeatedly offered to adopt his and her daughter Bristol’s baby because “she didn’t want people to know that her 17-year-old daughter was going to have a kid.”

You’ll be hearing these and other tidbits from the interview all throughout the media for the next few days, no doubt. But do you want to?

Is the fascination with the former Alaskan governor and her family — specifically, the tabloid aspects of her personal life, and the tangential figures in it — exhausted at this point, or do you want more?

And more importantly, in the words of my colleague Margaret Lyons, “Can we include a poll: How many months until Levi has a dating show on VH1? (Loving Levi? Levi Spouse? Will the tagline be ‘I’m sorry, but I’m asking you to leave…eye?’)”

See the piece dissected and digested by MSNBC, below, and tell us what you think:

I am no fan of Palin or the conservatives, but this kid is just running his mouth to try and make a buck. I don’t believe anything he says, and even if he was being truthful, big deal Palin is human. Leave it alone.
trust me in a few months he will be making out with Spencer Pratt to get some time in the tabloids

    • Ben

In all honesty I actually really like Sarah Palin, but I’m glad to see that even those that don’t can see what a creep this kid is. I mean, really? Is it that surprising that someone would like the idea of making a lot of money quickly?
I agree with your Spencer Pratt prediction, but I hope it doesn’t happen. Spencer is a little too good for this white trash.

    • Jenn

Well said. I 100% agree on all counts.

      • JamesD

I tend to think Levi is cashing in on an exclusive look at Palin. He is probably not lying. He just has information that is worth a lot. With that said, Palin gave this guy room and board and treated him like a family member. On a personal level he seems to be ungrateful. I guess the value of this information steered him in this direction.

  • Officer Farva

I guess the shoe is on the other foot now, because Palin now knows how it feels to have an idiot badmouthing HER.

    • marley

      karma’s a b***ch.

    • LT

      LOL, well-put!

  • Ben

This kid is such trash. Why should anyone believe what he says? He’s shown time and again that he’s more than willing to whore himself for fame (said he would pose naked for the right amount of money, taken pics of him shirtless and his son in GQ, he’s reportedly interested in a career in Hollywood, he’s appeared on Larry King Live and even on the Tyra Banks Show for God’s sake!)

    • T

I believe everything he says. And why shouldn’t he speak to the media? He didn’t decide to drag himself into the spotlight, Mrs. Palin did it. Since he is already celebrity and will never have a normal life again, may as well make the most of it.

      • Ben

Um, did Sarah Palin herself literally drag him unwillingly by the feet to the convention in St. Paul? Because if she didn’t, I’m pretty sure that it was he himself who chose to expose himself to the world.
‘He might as well make the most of it’, that’s an interesting way to look at someone shamelessly whoring not only himself but a family he is not a part of and HIS OWN SON for attention and maybe some money. Just admit it. You find him credible because you hate Sarah Palin, not because he seems like a highly reliable source.

      • janye

haha good one! and i’m sure that palin is dragging him into all these interviews. i bet she FORCED him to go on a date with kathy griffin. poor wittle levi just wants a normal life!

if he would shut his hole for ten seconds, and if the media would focus on the people that are actually in office and making the decisions, then levi would go back to a normal life.

      • Jesse Cornish

Sarah Palin was not Levi Johnston’s legal guardian at the time of the Republican convention. She had no authority over him whatsoever. He could have declined to appear, but I’m guessing Levi Johnston wanted to be seen on worldwide TV. He wasn’t forced to do anything he didn’t want to do.

    • blogreader

Why is the media so intent on glamorizing this loser? His 15 minutes are over. I’m no Palin fan but this is ridiculous. I mean, consider the source here… what a weasel.

      • sat

Oh whatever, one moron talking about another moron. If that’s wrong we all shouldn’t be talking here. Go levi, you imbibe the spirit of America. But seriously, even you could do better than Kathy Griffin.

  • Big Fat Greek

Is Levi giving Palin the high hard one?

  • Big Fat Greek

Or is Palin giving him kicks in the crotch, Van Damme Style?

  • Carrie

Sad after losing? Ya think? A perfectly adult reaction to losing something big and important, as seen through the eyes of an idiot kid who is so far from being an adult it’s pathetic. I really feel sorry for Bristol, because she’s saddled with this guy as her child’s father – I feel sorry for their baby, too. I think it’s equally ridiculous how the media is giving this immature brat any face time, simply because they want to continue to drag her name through the mud. How can *anyone* take him seriously?

  • jordan

the way the media portrays sarah palin (and the way much of america has bought into it) is such a pathetic commentary on american society.

    • Gael

how do they portray her? because theres the good and the bad and i think what you see is influenced by where you are. i feel like idk how everyone else feels about her.

    • Chappel

Palin is an idiot who either doesn’t understand anything or deliberately lies to misinform the voting public. After reading her BS about “death panels”, which only a complete moron would believe, I lost all respect for her. Give it to her, Levi… she deserves it.

  • Officer Farva

Whoever is getting the kick wherever, this is the tv show “Ow! My balls!” brought to us in our time and age. Idiocracy rules!

  • jamie

don’t leave anything along. that’s what she get for all the lies that she told. u know what thay say..the truth hurts..can’t stand the heat get out of kitchen

  • jamie

sara is an air head..why would anyone listen to her..

    • mikey

Have to wonder the same thing about you

      • Christopher

        No, your face is dumb.

  • coco

god the dems must be really scared of sarah. why else do they keep rehasing everything she does? why does it matter? she lost. isn’t there more important political things to talk about??
as for levi…deadbeat should really think twice before he criticizes someone else’s parenting.
our media is so biased it makes me sick.

    • Felicia

Sorry Coco. Republican or not, Sarah always came off as a bitch. All the same, I think it is beyond tacky what he is doing. This is his son’s family.

      • coco

how she came off was never my question. i just don’t get why the media is so focused on tearing her down, when she’s not campaigning or really doing anything of any importance right now. if they wanna talk politics, there’s plenty going on in the white house. why all this focus on the person who lost??

    • susan Kroese

Right, the dems are really scared of Sarah. In fact there must have been a lot of people afraid of sarah, she lost the election for McCain.

      • Ben

This just isn’t true. For the two weeks after she was announced as the VP candidate, the McCain/Palin ticket was actually AHEAD of the Annointed One, I mean, the Obama. It wasn’t until The subprime mortgage fallout (for which Republicans were largely blamed) did the McCain/Palin ticket fall behind Obama/Biden once again.

      • Gary

two weeks was about how long it took the media to research her past. after people started getting areal idea of her views, and actions, well, they could not have made it any esier for the dem’s to win. McCain probably did not look as closely as he should have here.

      • Ben

I mean, really? Which do you think would be more likely to give Republicans a drop in the polls, a huge drop in the nation’s economy (on a Republican Presdent’s watch), or lies about Palin’s past such as a supposed attempt to ban certain books in the Wasilla library?

      • coco

i guess i need to clairfy…scared wasn’t the right word. i guess i meant threatened. they feel threatened by her, why else would continually drag her through the mud? because they don’t like her?
i hope its the first, because if they are doing it just for kicks, then that is beyond pathetic and they should work on their own lives before they throw stones at someone who isn’t really relevant in the political world

  • steven

Free speach is at risk in the USA. Allow someone besides right wing liars to have some air time for a change.

    • Ben

Wow, um….I have a solution for you. Turn on NBC news. Or ABC news. Or CBS news, MSNBC, CNN or CNN Headline News. I guarantee you, they have very, very few “right-wing” liars on their airwaves.

      • worldrimroamer

There may not be that many right-wing outright liars on those new networks you mention, but there are are certainly quite a few fairly (or sometimes very) misguided right-wing pundits. It’s on the A.M. radio talk shows where you find the multitude of right-wing outright liars. One of the biggest dumb myths in the U.S. is that the media are liberal. Good grief, just look at Western Europe. We’re quite far to the right wing of the Western World. Dumb, dumb.

      • Ben

My point wasn’t that right-wing pundits don’t exist. My point was pretending that “free speech is at risk in the USA” because of an abundance of right-wing liars who are given airtime is absolutely ridiculous.
Okay, the US media may be more conservative than many outlets in Europe….so? Nancy Pelosi is also more conservative than Joseph Stalin. Would you call her a “conservative”? In relation to the political spectrum of 95% of Americans, many in the media are indeed liberal.

  • jen_s

Yuck! They all make me sick – Levi and the Palins. I wish they’d all go away already! Please.

  • Daniel Fisher

Jeez, I am sick near to death over this Palin/Johnston thing. Don’t we, as a nation, have more important stuff to deal with than this pathetic excuse for a soap opera? The media and more importantly, the American people should start focusing on things that have substance and importance. Enough already!!

  • Camilla Charles

Anybody who considers it “news” that a politician might differ from their public persona has been been in a coma for the last few decades. I’m no Sarah Palin fan, and I’m certainly not defending her – just stating the obvious – that if you are shocked or disappointed it can only be because you were dumb enough to believe what you saw on TV during a political campaign. Sorry to burst your bubble, but reality TV isn’t real either.
