'Sex and the City' sequel: More fashion straight from the set

When this picture from yesterday’s Sex and the City sequel shoot surfaced, two thoughts came to mind: 1) There must be some sort of ’80s flashback in the movie and 2) I’ve rediscovered my love for the 1985 Sarah Jessica Parker-Helen Hunt flick, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. If this is costume designer Patricia Field’s new vision for the film, so help me Manolo Blahnik. But methinks this Flashdance-esque getup is a trip down memory lane. Perhaps a flashback to Carrie’s big move to Manhattan? Dare we say…makeover montage??

For her second outfit of the day, SJP looked a bit more NYC-chic, but where is Carrie headed? Brunch with the girls? Galavanting with Big? Off to the drugstore to pick up a pregnancy test? We can only imagine! Baby plotlines aside, SJP had on a more character-appropriate look in this blue two-tier dress, Christian Louboutin’s “Sylvia” large hobo bag (only available in grey, saks.com; $1,795) and “Gino” T-strap heels (888-222-7639; $865), topped with Jee Vice’s “Heated” sunglasses (jeevice.com; $170). Love the dress, love the shoes and I can deal with the giant pink bag, but the glasses? They look more ski slope than SoHo.

PopWatchers, I’m a bit torn about these looks, so let’s have a vote…

Yes, my wife and I always watched the show and saw the first movie, but this woman looks unhealthy from a weight standpoint, and I just don’t see where her looks and fashion sense justifies the praise. Sorry, just my opinion, but one of my favorite movies of all time is Ferris Buhler’s Day Off, so she gets a couple points for her spouse.

    • seriously?

      wholeheartedly agree!

      • steevonyc

Yeah, she’s always been pretty hag-faced in my opinion, and that upper pic is hideous! I never quite got it when it came to her being regarded as uber hot, but I will admit that she (and the rest of the cast) were great in the SATC franchise.

She has ALWAYS been that thin in SATC. I just think our tolerance for the super skinny is waning.

      • Felicia

I don’t agree. Watch the T.V. show. I don’t think she was nearly as thin. The scene in the first movie where she was in her underwear reaching up to the closet…I thought, where has her body gone?

    Two things:
    1) Love the shoes in the second photo.
    2) For the love of God, someone please make SJP eat some food!!!!!! She looks awful.

    • Lisa Simpson

      Agree, and agree.

  • coco

two days in and i’m already tired of the coverage

  • I love SATC but I love cheeseburgers more

No wonder she couldn’t have children anymore, she’s not healthy at all! Her arms are worse than Madonna’s!

I LOVE this show! I watch all the reruns almost nightly! My daughter-in-law bought me the 1st. movie(she is also a big fan) and I am sooo looking forward to the next one! awesome job of keeping it real!! big fan in Ohio!!

I’ve enjoyed the series and the movie and as far as her weight, if she was fat they would go on about that too get over it

Ienjoyed the series and the movie and regarding her weight, if she was fat they would have something to say about that also get over it

  • Beno

Yes, she is too skinny in my opinion too. I would like her more with some meat on her bones.

  • seriously?

Really? The woman is insanely beautiful (great hair, way too thin, and in her 30s or 40s something)… Comments should be directed to her “wardrobe” / “costume” personnel who’s paid by a studio for a job performance. Those are the people (at least in this instance) as to whom we should comment whether you “love it or hate it” – not to a human being paid to wear what she’s told.

    • seriously?

It’s unanimous. too thin. (not necessarily by hollywood’s standards but by real-life healthy people’s standards) Health first, everything else second.

    • really?

I like SJP but she is not “insanely beautiful.” If people judge her appearance on physical traits alone (without bias from her personality) they would be insane to call her beautiful.

  • Wahyu

i juz dun like how the colors combine each other. n she looks too skinny. it’s good 4 girls to maintain weight, but leaving only her skeleton..??

  • Ross E. Patrick, Jr.

Are you kidding? She looks absolutely fabulous. She’s not too thin, just perfect. And, as to the dress, she would look good in anything! Get over it.

    • superhare

i definately agree with you… she is perfect, also she plays perfect.
      Noth to tell more

  • Elizabeth

She looks like Glenn Close in “Fatal Attraction” with that hair and in the white clothes.

    • dublin04

I agree more Glenn Close-but at first glance I thought it was a blonde Cher!

    • teekay

      LOL. I thought Dee Snider…

      • emmalee

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. Sort of a very skinny version of Dee Snider ala Twister Sister.

  • l*

I hope that’s not a flashback scene…no way SJP looks like a 20 or 25 year old. Yikes. I miss season 1/2/3 Carrie–less heavy make up. Damn.

  • Jake

I don’t know that we’re looking at the same photos. SJP looks the same as always.

I do agree on two things: yes, the ’80s look is very Glenn Close in “Fatal Attraction,” and true, SJP’s not convincing as a 20-something if that scene is indeed intended as a flashback…

  • Paula

love the clothes… hate the hair in the first photo and yes, way too much makeup and sickeningly thin.

  • Nicky B.

I thought she was Glen Close from Fatal attraction there for a minute.
