For something that should be part of the ’90s nostalgia tapestry, Hook seems strangely absent from most of the “remember that movie….” conversations. Maybe this enchanting remix will change that:
Rufio! Rufio! Rue! Fee! Ooh! (That parts not in the video, I just like saying it to mahself.) [via Videogum]

“Ohhh there you are Peter!” Love this movie.
AMAZING! LOVE this movie!!! but it makes me want to watch empire of the sun! weird!
This movie was totally ridiculed when it came out, but I loved it then and still love it now. “Run Home Jack!”
I had such a crush on Rufio… I cried when he got stabbed and said, “I wish I had a father like you…” I was about 12. Oh, Rufio. (Sigh!)
This movie does not get the respect it deserves, it was a great movie and one of Robin Williams’ few decent performances. The scene where he finally accepts he is pan and spins around with the sword (bangarang) is just an awesome moment in film!
I’m so glad it got a mention on here. I agree, I don’t understand why people lambast it so much. It’s one of my favorite childhood films and I love it to this day.
Holy Crap! I just bought and watched this movie and I love it. The only thing that was not good was Julia Roberts. I have loved her in everything else, but she was wayyyy miscasted in this role. Her performace was painful to watch.
Other than that, it was awesome.
I have to agree. I dismissed this movie outright when it came out but have had to watch it (a lot) recently due to a certain 5 year old in my house obsessed with all things Tinkerbell, and damn if it’s not really fun and sweet and plain ol’ good. I’m glad my household at least has rediscovered Hook.
ask most anyone of a certain age (19-27 [unscientific]) and they will tell you how much they love, and HAVE loved, Hook. it’s a fantastic movie with a wonderful score, and it comforts us.
For some reason Rufio popped into my head the other day, so I looked him up on IMDB. He’s directing now!
My favorite line: “I just had an apostrophe!”
