The wait almost killed me, but Greek is finally back tonight! The knowledge that Cappie, Casey, and Rusty will be waiting on my DVR tonight is putting some serious pep in my step.
When we left off…actually, one of the things I love about this show is that 900 things are happening at once, which makes it a treat to watch but sometimes tough to recap. Here’s an overview:
My one problem with Greek? I have a hard time convincing people to give it a try. “It’s the most realistic college show I’ve ever seen,” I say, and people roll their eyes, because the experiences on Greek could not be more different than my own collegiate ones, plus they’re obviously and consistently a bit ridiculous. Don’t be fooled by the glitzy exterior, though. Greek is authentically, hilariously collegiate: It’s all about those weird waves of paralyzing self-doubt that turn into dazzling self-confidence, the you’re-only-young-once passion with which people hold their convictions — and the 24/7 shenanigans only drunk college kids could come up with. Plus it’s somewhere in the Ugly Betty/Gossip Girl family of zinger-happy series with distinctive voices and strong female characters.
Help me perfect my pitch, PopWatchers! How do you get your pals to pledge Greek?

I was one of those people who refused to watch it because I thought it sounded dumb, but having the entire first two seasons on hulu and a week of boredom got me to watch…and now I’m totally addicted and can’t wait until it starts. Definitely nothing like college was for me, but the emotions seem right.
good show everyone should watch
Greek is a great show and everyone should give it a shot. But, I wouldn’t exactly call the show realistic, at least not based on my college experience. Not that there’s a ton to choose from, but the most realistic (and hysterical) college-based show I’ve ever seen was Judd Apatow’s “Undeclared.”
That is a STELLAR recap video!!! And I loooooove Greek. And I have gotten 5 people to watch with me! Yay!
I was actually watching Kyle XY when all of these promos for the show came on; we had never even heard of it before or seen anything about it before that night. My sister and I had nothing else to do so we watched it and fell in love with its quirky characters, off-beat syblings, pop culture references, and quick quips. I have yet to go to college, and the Greek system looks interesting and refreshing from this show’s perspective. Most of the time, the Greek system is about of horny, party-hard idiots, but now the Greek system looks moderately exciting (though I will not pledge because my major will be too busy).
My whole family watches Greek regularly and we love it! Everyone knows that college is the ultimate waterloo in TV shows; Buffy’s 4th season has been said to be severely lacking and this was when Buffy moves to college. Veronica Mars’s final season was set during Veronica’s freshman year in college. One Tree Hill even skipped the college years, probably preferring to avoid the kiss of death. It always puzzled me, because college is a more fun experience than high school, in my opinion. The drama of high school is still there, but it’s much less mundane and more about relationships, finding your path in terms of career or life choices and discovering oneself. I love that Greek can be fun and quirky and extremely funny, but also deal with real issues. This show has one of the most diverse cast of characters I’ve seen and they are all treated equally. One of my favorite TV shows! And it’s not at all that difficult to pimp! I’ve gotten a lot of my friends into it!
I have to say anything when any show comes on ABC Family I have to say that I am quick to automatically disregard the show. However I was really psyched to watch 10 Things – which is cute and complete time pass. But considering there is not much else to watch this summer I gave the show a shot. It is pretty good!
Greek on the other hand – nobody watches and therefore nobody really discusses the show! But a few weeks ago Hulu.com posted the last few seasons. And once again seeing that there is no other shows on, and I do not want to finish Veronica Mars, I decided to give it a shot. I really liked it… In fact it got me out of my Veronica Mars depression!!! However not many people believe me when I tell them. Well it is their loss!!
I used to be an avid viewer, but somehow I just lost interest. I stopped caring about all the characters, because I know that Casey and Cappie will end up getting back together. What’s the point in watching and waiting? Also, I’ve kind of gone off sororities. All that sisterhood drama was getting boring. (Not to lay blame on the excellent cast, though.)
So glad Cappie and Evan are friends again.
I got hooked on the show by accident. Last year, when they were getting ready to air the season that started in the fall, I caught up on the reruns during the day. I was hooked.
Though, I forgot when it aired, I bought the seasons on iTunes and haven’t looked back since. I think it’s fun, sweet, and a little of what I wish my college years were like. It’s worth me dvring each ep now.
It’s a really great show – I don’t know a lot of people personally who watch it, because we don’t get ABC Family in Canada. However, for Canucks who are interested, I think it’s airing on Muchmusic (though I don’t think new eps are airing yet). I’ve caught up with it online and on dvd, and it’s great. It’s shockingly funny – in that, I was shocked that a show on ABC Family could be so funny. I laugh throughout. It’s also not as “family friendly” as I had pegged it to be – it’s pretty risque which adds a sense of realism – I mean, these ARE college kids. I also like that it’s multi-ethnic and it portrays gay relationships in a straightforward and honest way. Plus did I mention it’s hilarious??
I’m a little embarassed to admit it, but I really love this show. I do feel like it is pretty realistic. Of course, I was in the greek system at a school that had a lot of greek participation.
