Wolverine and James Bond will soon be squaring off eight times a week. And here’s the first publicity photo of Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in the Broadway play A Steady Rain, in which they play Chicago cops with enough troubles to fill Soldier Field. Jackman, who won a Tony in 2004 for hoofing it as 1970s singer-songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, plays Denny, a patrolman with a racist streak and violent temper. And Craig, a London stage veteran making his Broadway debut, plays Joey, a recovering alcoholic and gentler soul who may not be as docile as he first seems. In A Steady Rain, which just began rehearsals, the two buddies in blue recount a few harrowing days on the job and their very different accounts of a police call that quickly went south.
Performances of American playwright Keith Huff’s two-man play begin Sept. 10 with an official opening set for Sept. 29. The show, directed by Tony nominee John Crowley (The Pillowman), is scheduled to run through Dec. 6. And while I have my reservations about Craig’s porn-stache — a look that 007 could never get away with, thank heavens — I have to say that both stars look rugged, handsome, and intense. They can walk my beat any day.

Daniel Craig can go do whatever it is Daniel Craig does. I’ll take Hugh Jackman any day….and every day.
What Daniel Craig “does,” miss, is to provide this millennium with one of its indisputable best action stars, kick ass all over so many other, lesser Bonds, and show Hugh Jackman how a real testosterone-fueled movie star does it.

Sure, it’s acting, and I LOVE Hugh Jackman, but doesn’t it seem kind of sad that the producers couldn’t find two AMERICAN actors to play Americans, especially in a show about and named for a quintessentially American city??
It’s called “selling tix” too. Nothing wrong with fine British actors — who also happen to be audience-drawing stars– playing Americans. Should only Danish actors play Hamlet??

I’m with the majority here–facial hair on Daniel Craig is totally unattractive! Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, is very attaractive no matter the state of his hair (cf. Wolverine, Van Helsing, etc.!).

I saw Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz on Broadway and his stage presence is unlike any I have seen before. I assume these tickets are so hard to come by, you will have to give up your first and second born to get them.
The facial hair on Daniel could be part of the play and a plot point, like maybe Jackman’s character makes fun of it or something since he’s supposed to be some type of bully.
I’ll be taking my binoculars when I see the show. Oooo la la!

SPOILER ALERT! I have tickets for the show & can’t wait to see the man who is Bond & the man who wanted to be Bond duke it out on stage. Interesting story line about 2 cops who return a runaway back to his “uncle” who rapes, kills & eats the boy with the repercussions on the 2 cops.
They’re both male butterfaces. Talented, though.
