I loved your singing, Danny. You should have won the American Idol 2009 competition. I went to see you at the Idols tour in D.C., and you were great.

It is truly a tribute to how good-natured a man that Danny Gokey is that he would ever participate in another interview with anyone associated with Idolatry ever again, but to have a sense of humor about someone as frighteningly hateful towards him as Kristin Baldwin is truly remarkable. Maybe in your next interview, Michael, you can explain to Danny how you were justified in describing his singing as “screaming” while not describing Adam Lambert’s so-high-pitched-only-dogs-can-hear-it wails as “screeching”?

Well thank you! I didn’t want to be too defensive, but Slezak and that horrible creature Kristin Baldwin were just ridiculously cruel and judgmental towards him.
Danny gives me indigestion. I find him so blah and boring. I know he thinks he is cute and all that, but honestly he has no charisma. You can’t just have a nice voice to make it in the music business today, you have to have some style. Wearing chain on his pants, doesn’t do it. He needs a stylist, like right now. I can’t imagine buying his music. He needs to go into Christian Music, because looks are not that important in that music industry.
Love Idolatry! Was not a Danny fan (although Michael & Kristen-thought you were a bit too harsh on him during the season). Was genuinely surprised then at how really good he was at the Hartford show! Very entertaining!
This was hilarious and major kudos to Danny for his perfect slam at sleezy and company- classy, funny and no malice whatsoever; just like Danny himself. Unfortunately, insecure, small people continue to bash Danny (because they need to put someone down), even thought anyone attending concerts will tell you he has a huge fanbase (his applause has been louder than Kris’s at times, and even as loud as Adam’s teenie screamers) that appreciate the man’s sweet funny personality, his good looks and immense talent. Even critics have given him good to great reviews.
Sure, with his background, he is a little naive, thus opening himself up to cold-hearted ridicule; but I find his non-PC candid honesty oh so refreshing after hearing the same old, same old from entertainers.

I liked a lot of last season’s contestants, but the one I listen to now is Danny. I like his voice the best…don’t get tired of it.
I just don’t see how some people find Gokey exciting. I find him boring and I saw the tour. He just does not have the charisma. Sorry but in a years time he will not be heard from since. Hope he can still get his trucking job back and that he saved his money from the tour.
Well, I guess a major record label and A-list producer find him exciting enough to invest in him. Guess he won’t be heading back to his truck anytime soon.

It will be interesting to see in a year how any of the current AI8 finalists are doing.
Danny is a great and very natural singer, though, and really engaging with live audiences. Saw him on the AI tour, very impressive.
I saw this interview reposted today, reminded me how funny it was to see Danny giving back in his own way. Literally killing with kindness, more or less.
I will be interested to see how EW treats him as his single will be coming out soon, and then his country album early next year.
