Like Denise Richards’ E! reality series, the relationship between Idolatry and Danny Gokey is complicated. But when we caught up with American Idol’s season 8 second runner-up during the Idols Live tour stop in Albany, NY, Danny took control of the interview for a hot minute to ask me some tough questions of his own, and to give a shout-out to his nemesis, Idolatry co-host Kristen Baldwin. Let’s be honest, what would this season have been without Danny Gokey? Sure, Adam blows us away, Kris charms us and Allison rocks us hard. But Danny is a true gift, a never-ending source of amusement. Oh Danny, don’t ever change! <3

Well, gotta thank Danny for those LOL and WTF moments he gave us. Not to mention, he showed us everything that is wrong with American Idol. Props to Gokey for that. As for his singing, I’d rather he be in reality TV than in music.

Danny was GREAT in the Albany show, and I was never very fond of him during the competition.
The studio version of Dream On was fantastic. As good as the live one was bad!
OMG this is one of the only times i really like Danny. LMAO you and Jim from MTV and some of the others totally skewered Danny during the season. I think he’s just socially tactless and still quite ignorant bc he was raised in a homophobic family. I don’t think he means bad maybe. He’s also a sleaze (I will never forget the way he interrupted the interviewer in the Movieline chat just to ask if he knew who that hot lady in the room was, oh god) but still. I think he’s just one of those annoying pervy guys I’d avoid IRL who try way to hard and impersonate others but the Idols all said they like to make fun of him as well so. He has a really good voice anyway.
